2005 chevy Silverado 1500. Bought brand new at the end of March 2005. Speedometer reads incorrectly. Sometimes reads 120, sometimes reads 90, etc. Etc. Etc. My truck has just over 72,000 miles on it and is less than 7 years old, but misses the VIN recall by 9570. This speedometer problem seems to be a popular complaint from what I see on the internet. Shouldn't this recall be extended to higher VIN numbers with the same exact problem???.
I was driving down the road in my 2005 chevy silverado with the ac on and the cab of the truck started to fill up smoke. The wires to the blower motor meted and started to burn.
My truck as dual ac controles, while driving the driver side air blows hot air while air conditioner is on. If you turn the truck off and then back on it fixes the problem for sometime 2min and sometimes 30 min. I know multiple people that have the same problem as me, I have seen hundereds of people on forums that have the same problem with the same truck and others such as the tahoe, avalanche, suburban of same year and different years. Some forums that I have read stated that the truck could catch fire, I am very concerned about the situation, most people say that the parts to fix the problem are around $500 - $700, but this is occuring in hundereds if not thousands of gm vehicles.
Driving to work on I-80. Speedometer just went to zero. Stopped at rest stop and called my mechanic to ask if possible blown fuse. Was told that this was controled by computer. Needed to get to work and started again and speedometer was now working again. I now have a gps system that shows my speed because I cannot go 30 miles before my speedometer ether goes to zero or now indicates that I'm going 120 mph. I have a 2005 chevy silverado and was told that there was no recall for this problem but from what I have found on the web it seems to be a major problem.
