1 Brake Antilock Wheel Speed Sensor problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2014

When I am applying the brakes, at about 10 mph, the abs kicks on and keeps the truck from stopping. The driving conditions haven't mattered. The roads are dry and there is no indication on the dash that there is a problem. It is happening pretty consistently at slow speeds. It seems to be a problem with the abs speed sensor on the drivers side.

2 Brake Antilock Wheel Speed Sensor problem

Failure Date: 04/25/2009

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that if the vehicle wsa driven under 10 mph, the abs function activated and the wheel speed sensor failed by not detecting the wheels turning. As a result, the vehicle made a noise and jerked forward without warning. The contact had to apply force to the brake pedal to stop the vehicle each time the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who cleaned the wheel speed sensor. Years later, the failure recurred. At a low rate of speed, the brake pedal was slow to respond and required great force to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized dealer again and, an hour later, indicated that they were not able to get the wheel speed sensors removed to clean them. The wheel sensors were placed back on the vehicle. If they were damaged, the contact would need to replace the wheel speed sensors, if they were damaged. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 24,000.
