My father purchased this truck brand new and inherited it from my father when he passed away. The truck has just under 100,000 miles on it and the service trailer brake system light came on in the dash. I have tried to reset it and it still comes right back. The truck hasn't ever been used commercially only as personal use. It is the only vehicle that I own and I don't know what to do I am disabled and I need help.

I was driving my 2007 Chevrolet silverado when the power steering, power brakes, dashboard gauges, electronic stability control, traction control stopped working simultaneously. There was a significant loss of power and the transmission shifted violently and the vehicle jerked. I was traveling in motion on a city street with traffic present while this occurred. This nearly caused an accident as I was barely able to steer the vehicle off the road.
The brakes are very hard to press and the truck shakes I tried everything to try to fix it balanced the wheels and everything still shakes and brake pedal is very hard.
This recall has been for a year already and yet they havent fixed the issue.
The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving approximate 70 mph, the front driver's side wheel fell off. The contact was able to safely merge to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that the front driver's side wheel bearing and rotor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000.
My brakes did not work as before the warning lights and buzzers went off.
Warning lights and alarms on.
Anti-lock brake system (abs) activates when not needed during low speed (<10 mph) stopping. This suddenly increases stopping distances in low speed braking situations. This is the exact same problem described in NHTSA campaign number 05v37900 issued for 1999-2002 Chevrolet silverados for which a recall was issued on 8/30/2005.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving 25 mph he engaged the brakes and they pulsated when the antilock brake system activated. The vehicle stopped in the middle of an intersection. The failure occurred nine to ten times while driving at low speeds. The failure only occurred while making left turns and now it occurs while driving in any direction. The failure had been on going since the middle of February 2011. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The failure continued to occur and the vehicle was taken to a second dealer who was also unable to duplicate the failure. The failure mileage was 24,300 and the current mileage was 24,370.
Temperature around 0 degrees. Snow on road. Dash lights for abs and brake went on. When I got to a clear area of pavement I tested abs by jamming on brakes. Abs did not work. Drove vehicle home to garage. Turned on heater in garage. Next morning warning lights off and brakes worked correctly. Has happened once or twice a winter since 2011. Last happened 01/07/14. Happens only when less than 10 degrees and wet. Otherwise brakes have worked correctly.
While driving my 2007 Silverado 1500 classic, I have had the brakes completely lock up. The first time this occurred it caused and accident, luckily no-one was injured. This happens on a regular basis, every time the brakes are applied hard. This truck has been back to the dealership at least 5 times for this problem and the same result is given each time "our computer does not show any codes, so nothing is wrong. " it mainly occurs at speeds around 40-60 m. P. H. , but has started occurring on very humid or rainy days. I explained to the service manager that this should be some sort of safety concern and his response was, "well until a code comes up on our computer, nothing is wrong. ".
Brake rotors on 2007 Chevrolet silverado had to be resurface due to warping or metal defects, dealer said was not covered by warranty even though vehicle had only 34,200 miles on it, paid for repairs, but felt this should have been a safety issue repair, due to possible loss of control in a hard braking situation.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While backing out of a parking space at 15 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal and had to use both feet to stop the vehicle completely. He drove to goodyear and a technician test drove the vehicle, but could not duplicate the failure. The dealer followed suit, but could also not duplicate the failure. The failure and current mileages were 17,100. Updated 4/8/08 the consumer stated pedal depressed 4 times within a 10 min period and would not move. Updated 04/08/08.
