general problems of the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

My frame rail on the drivers side is corroding away to the point where it is no longer safe to drive / I have brought the vehicle to the gm dealership to verify the concern / I have contacted general motors about this concern and was given the run around / I have a vehicle that has costed my time and money to purchase / and maintain / this truck runs great and should be capable of lasting many more years - except for the fact that the frame rail is corroding away in the same spot on this truck as on other gm trucks from this year and model range . I believe gm designed a faulty frame/ I beleive the frames on these trucks were never treated to resist the elements /.

My vehicle will just start up sometimes on its own with or without key in ignition, as well as set alarm off. Also, it constantly feels like the brakes are on at all times. It feels like it drags alot. And it feels like it doesn't properly have enough power when accelerating.

Power surges sometime everything shuts off while driving leaving no brakes, steering, or acceleration. Other times there is a no start due to no power or the instrument cluster goes haywire. Reacquiring problem with no answers why. Others have had the same problem. Scary driving fine at 60 with kids in the back and all of a sudden you lose control of your truck unexpectedly for the first time. No warnings or obd2 codes.

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, the vehicle loss motive power without warning. The brakes and power steering failed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's father's residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 167,000.

After buying this used truck from gm certified dealership having advanced inspection before we took home 3 months in first start of the day about 7am, 5-10min into driving, no mil light, truck engine shut off hard to pull over and I tried to restart but wouldn't start. After waiting an hour for a tow truck I tried once more and it fired up. Cancelled tow drove home fine. But it did it a few more random times while driving until oct. Now it sits. Its scary when theres no mil indicating a problem, but this is a problem and safety during travel. It wont start after 7 month ownership ,mil light is now on saying u0100. Bought 4/2021.

Won’t shift into 3rd gear.

The brakes are very hard to press and the truck shakes I tried everything to try to fix it balanced the wheels and everything still shakes and brake pedal is very hard.

Just had someissues with the differebtial on my 07 Silverado 1500 lt the problem being is the bolt the goes througn the pin that hold spider gears in place broke off chewd the pin up preety godod was a temporary fix finally was able to fix it proper afte it started again did not have 1500. 00 dollars laying to rebuild it found a good used one with low miles on just swaped it out the cost for all about $500. 00 this is a problem that should be looked in to and general motors needs to recall these vehicle to fix it being a a common problem could have causeed me major wreck or someone else was driving it when happened this issue needs to be resolved soon stated about 160000 miles if not sooner before I caught it.

Hey. I have a code p0011 on my truck and it shifts hard into second gear if I drive it for like 2 or 3 miles the light will go out and everything works fine and I've change the camshaft position sensor. Just wondering if you might have an answer? and when the light is on and says service traction control and stabilitrak.

My issue is with the oil pressure in my 2007 chevy Silverado 1500 4x4. The low oil pressure light comes on and I can hear the lifters tapping. I got online and there are thousands of complaints on this same issue. It appears to be a problem with either a defective oil pump or a screen in the oil pressure sensor clogging. This issue needs to be recalled because it effects literally thousands of people.

Driving down road when reduce engine power comes on and shuts down the power and I can not drive over 15mph on a busy highway. . . . .

I have a major rattle, and loud roaring at all speeds. I took it to the shop and they couldnt find anything. But it seems loke it is getting worse I dont want my front end to fall out and kill me. Could you please look in to this problem and tell me if there is a recall or notice thank you.

Week prior to incident these truck symptoms occurred simultaneously while driving in hot weather highway speed smooth dry surface highway. Abs light on service 4 wd on left speedometer and tachometer flicking off and on door locks flipping off and on shifting hard jerking rear end clunking odometer window going blank on 9/2/13 while driving hot weather at 25-30 mph on dry gravel left rear wheel locked up without warning possibly due to down shift. Clunk in rear end service 4wd indicator light came on then went off. Service engine light came on immediately following left rear wheel lockup with the following codes. Code p0121 throttle position sensor p0171 lean air fuel ratio bank1 p0174 lean air fuel ratio bank 2 p0121 p0171 p0174.

This is a recurring problem- my vehicle (purchased brand new by me) while cruising on the highway will start to try and cut off while driving. The door locks will pop up and down, the dash gauges power on and off, the headlamps flash on and off, etc. . . Last week the vehicle completely shut down while doing this and I had to coast to the side of the road. This happened three times in 48 hours.

This 2007 Chevrolet silverado has only 73,730 miles . The vehicle in question has an oil consumption issue and is available for inspection upon request. An oil consumption issue will lead to low oil and low oil pressure which can lead to a fire. Problem has been confirmed by an independent service center. Vehicle has been inspected by a certified automotive technician. Vehicle loses oil close to 100 miles and the add engine oil display on the driver information center. Every trip that is close to 100 miles will cause oil consumption and the add engine oil will display. Vehicle was taken to a repair shop and I was informed that some Chevrolet silverado trucks engines will consume oil due to excessive amount of oil going to the pistons. The pistons result with damage to the piston rings and will need to be replaced. In the long run the engine will lose power start to smoke lose oil pressure and low compression which could lead to a fire . No recall was ever posted concerning this issue. I thought the consumption was due to viscosity breakdown until I noticed it got worse. I did some research and asked several silverado owners and they all had the same issue. I confirmed the issue when I took the vehicle to the technician. This vehicle only has 73,730 miles and I am the first owner.

As to date,December of 2012, there are over 212 complaints to NHTSA about the quality of the 2007 silverado pickup,be it 1/2 ton or any other. Why hasn't the above administration done something about the problem? my own problem with my vehicle is on the list of complaints as I have already filed a complaint with NHTSA, but to no avail. The gm manufactures have sold the consumer a bill of goods. From reading the list of complaints it leads one to the conclusion that the consumer has purchased a pile of junk. The quality of the vehicles are based on the quality of parts put into the vehicle when it is put together. The auto companies are getting away with highway robbery, when they purchase low quality parts, passing the problems onto the consumer, and not standing behind their workmanship. We as consumers have a right to be protected from shoddy workmanship,and as I see it,we are not getting our moneys worth. When is the administration going to do something about all of the complaints filed?.

While driving and coming to a stop, a loud clunk noise comes from the rear end. Within 2-4- seconds after stopping, it feels like someone hits my truck from the rear end. You can actually feel the truck move forward, but very slightly. I bought this truck new in 2007, and took it back to two different dealers within the first year of ownership. But was told nothing was wrong, and now it does it everytime I drive it. I am afraid the rear end will lock up and caused me to lose control.
