general problems of the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 - part 1

There is a recall number 09184c that only pertains to certain states but I live in a wet state also not listed and the carpet under my seat held moisture and now my airbag control module totally disintegrated from being in moisture for so long, they won't accept my truck in for inspection or repair.

T ruck left my wife totally stranded in the middle of a busy intersection. It was running but would not accelerate. I ran the codes and 2 codes that has never popped up before was p1682 and p2138. One said it could be the ignition and the other said it could be accelerator position sensor on gas peddle. My mechanic said this is a communication problem where the wires go into the ecm. Bad connection or moisture getting in. I have had a few wonky codes pop up that we believe to be bad connections. Gm needs to get this recalled and resolved. Trucks just stopping in the middle of the highway and in traffic is super dangerous. After I pushed on connection going into ecm, it started and I have not been able to duplicate code. We will see once it rains if it comes back. Way too many computers running these cars. A computer should never be involved with the running of engine, acceleration, braking or steering. Keep the computers for the entertainment systems!.

Vehicle abruptly malfunctioned (lose of power) while sitting at the traffic light during a heavy storm. Fortunately, I turned the vehicle off and restarted it, which gave me enough engine power to get a a safe place. I had the vehicle towed to love Chevrolet, columbia, SC. Dealership stated the entire wiring harness needed to be replaced. The replacement cost would be $3500. They also stated the wiring harness for this vehicle has been discontinued and I have to take the vehicle to an electrical shop to be fixed.

Sdm corrosion due to poor placement. Carpet and other material covered sensor and liquid has completely corroded sensor. Sensor is now dead and air bag light is on.

Yes the warning light came on before the air bag was replaced, if the waring light comes it indicates that the airbag is faulty, why is it going to cost me $791 to repair the sensor. Is this not a problem that should be resolved, as the airbag wont work if the sensor is not fixed. The air bag was replace at george nahas on January 8th. At the time we were not told that the airbag would not work because the light was on. It was much later that a friend (mechanic) told me that the bag would not work if the light was on. Thus we contact feldman and were told that the cost would be $791. Why replace the bag is it not going to work.

Fuel pump flow control module replacement 1500/2500, sierra 1500/2500) was never replaced by the dealer, vehicle stalled while driving, almost lost control while driving due to the engine stall. I took it to the dealership and they want to charge met to replace the fuel pump flow control module that was suppose the be fixed during the recall. I just bought this truck from the chevy dealer a month ago.

My neck, shoulders and back have been difficult to move since this happened. I tried to lift the hood but that was too hot to do so, I ran into my friends house screaming for a fire extinguisher!! as I was running back to remove as much as I could out of the truck her husband came out with the fire extinguisher and she came with the hose. I now I can barely move my neck, my back is in severe pain, and my ribs hurt immensely. As I survived this life threatening ordeal, I started doing background checks on this type of vehicle and 124 deaths have occurred because of this gm problem. How is this not a class action law suit?!!.

Car was parked. Door locked with remote while person was in the car with doors and windows closed. Unable to open doors manually from inside or outside. Unable to manually unlock doors from inside or roll windows down. Person inside was trapped and unable to get out of the car. Pushing the door unlock button did not work, nor did manually ilfting the door lock. Only way out was by unlocking the car with the remote.

Hi this truck has been a nightmare worst truck I ever owned I have sunk over 5k into it in repairs the air bag service light went on over a year ago wen I first got the truck my garage told me there were recalls on it I took it to a dealer they fixed 1 but refused to fix the air bag recall light my garage told me its unsafe and dealer should repair my garage sed metal could kill me and bag could go off at any time I took the truck to spurr chevy in brockport and hartway chevey in medina as well as chevy dealer in rochester and batavia all told me there is no fix and to keep driving I did and things just got worse I keep getting stranded and the truck looses power because the constant warning service air bag light I had to call aaa and get towed a bunch and get jump starts I have a 18 month old child this truck is not safe and this is effecting the trucks computer the complete muffler from engine back including converters was replaced at dealer by previous owner passed inspection first year I had it now it will not pass get messages like ecm not communication codes for dealer etc I took it to dealer in brockport they reset computer codes were clear for 2 hours by time I got to inspection shop all codes were back this thing is dangerous I smell odd electric smell by air bag almost like something burning and another problem I had the damb wheel berings on both sides went the one side started making a noise I tried to get home turned on to my rd and the whole front wheel break rotor and all lugs came off with bearing I went skidding 400 feet down the road the dam bearing is just pressed in when they go the whole front falls off you can not steer I have fixed everything on this truck and still not safe to drive new breaks rotors pads tires rims fuel pump sending unit all new ac all new exahust everything is new but the dam air bag is malfunctioning I and.

Door lock actuators do not always work first it was the passenger rear then driver rear now the passenger front is not working with the research I have don't I have come to the conclusion it is a very common problem even with low mileage trucks of this model year. The issue is not only annoying but can create a dangerous environment.

My vehicle has stalled multiple times while driving as well as failed to start. When these symptoms occurred they are accompanied by a check engine light for a u0109 code (loss of communication with fuel pump control module). I believe that my vehicle, although the VIN is not listed, is affected by NHTSA recall bulletin number 14515 as quoted above.

The engine doesn't slow down imediatly after you release accelerator. . Also the electric system comes on and off in motion. . . Also sometimes speakers work and sometimes the don't . . . Hello, I got a check engine light and found the code is for "low flow, check fuel control module, fuel pump". I found a recall bulletin no. : 14515b date: January 2015 subject: chassis electronic control module internal contamination. It is model year truck and the exact part number of the control module but the local dealer advised gm does not list my VIN as being involved, even though my truck is listed in the model year bulletin and it is the exact part number for all vehicles!! my truck could stop at any time and is unsafe to drive. I can;t drive the vehicle for fear of it stalling and even gm advised it could stall in trafiic and is a safety hazard. Please help. Thank you.

The problem was not with the air bag, but the front switch that activates the air bags upon impact. When one or both fail the test when you turn the ignition on, it posts a message saying service the air bag system. There is lots of information regarding this on utube. Apparently this is a common problem. I am an electrician and an electronics tech, I know that the air bags will not activate if the crash is on the side with a bad air bag. I had 2 brake light switches go out, at which time the person behind me,would have no idea, I was braking. The switch is a 2 part switch, one part controls the brake light, the other enables or disengages the cruise control system.

Tried to open passenger side front window from master module(switch) on driver side, notice a burnt odor. On farther inspection I found the passenger side window module had shorted out with burnt and/or melted wires at the connector. Possible fire hazard! I was parked at a post office.

Rapid temporary loss of engine power, doorlocks cycling repeatedly, guages malfunctioning, radio shuts off and turns back on with no preset stations and showing 12:00 on the clock ,cruise control disengages. Once vehicle is shut off, no guages nor lights work. . . As if there wasn't any battery in the vehicle. Vehicle won't start until dome light is restored on via jumpstarting. Cleaning battery connections and numerous ground wire connections gives short-lived relief from symtoms but problems ultimately return. Chevy dealership diagnosis shows that ground wires have high resistance. Online research shows that tens of thousands of other chevy owners are having similar to exact same problems, yet no recall has been issued. Problem was "fixed" last year and has returned yet again.

I first contacted them on November 7, 2017 and was told the device was not available. I contacted them again on may 10, 2018 and spoke with amanda. I was on highway 84 passing another car at speed 75 mph the door locks started came on and off, the safety belt lights came on, the engine started to slow and speed up, the clock went from 4:00 pm to 12:00 pm, the date went to 01/01/2004, the a/c started to blow hot air. I stopped on the shoulder and turned it off, everything stopped only the abs light stayed on. I called onstar to check what's wrong, they said everything looks good, check the tires, if the tires are good, you are good to drive. All tires were 33psi. I reset all the electronic functions and went home. I was in danger for at least 5 minutes in the left lane passing another car.

Driver side rear door lock- unlock no longer works. Stuck in locked position though locking mechanism pops up and down.

When driving at low speeds and making turn veg steering makes loud sound and steering wheel makes vibrating sound and locks temporarily. A code turned on that reads stabilizer trackability it stayed on from that time until now.

Instrument panel randomly goes crazy as well as power locks and engine shuts off going down the road. Sometimes will not crank up takes a few times turning the key.

The engine died without warning while driving at about 30 mph. Power steering and brakes were lost making the vehicle very difficult to control. I managed to stop the vehicle safely and had it towed to a Chevrolet dealership. The cause of the engine die out was found to be an internal fault in the engine control module.

I have a short in my fuel pump flow control module. It causes my car to stall while while in operation, check engine light comes on, sometimes it doesn't start, etc. This issue has haunted me for about a year now. I found a recall bulletin from gm; #14515b. This is the exact part # and issue that I'm having but my VIN # isn't part of the recall. Is it possible that my VIN was missed?.

On multiple occasions, while driving, my truck suddenly locked/unlocked/locked/unlocked doors, airflow changed from a/c to heat, stabiltrak disengaged, parking assist shut off, traction control turned off, lights shut off, engine stalled, and was unresponsive.
