40 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2013

I purchased my 2008 Chevrolet silverado crew cab back in 20011. It had approx. 70,000 miles on it at the time of purchase. A few months ago I started having problems with the automatic door locks on the drivers side of my vehicle. I could lock the doors but not unlock them. Then a few weeks later, my drivers side speaker went out completely. I am also unable to move the driver and passanger side mirrors in all directions when they need to be adjusted. My cruise controll also has recently started working off and on. My passenger side speaker has just recently started going in and out. My left turn signal works but doesn't make any noise when it is turned on.

41 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2013

Both drivers door and passenger door lock actuators are not working. They don't work with key fob, they don't lock or unlock when the truck is put in drive or when the key is turned off and they dont work with the lock switch on the door. This is a safety issue when it comes to children in the vehicle. This seems the 2008 is a bad year for these actuators and gm should recall. They know they were bad.

42 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/16/2012

My dash is cracked in two different places. Started out small and are getting larger as time goes on. My power windows and door locks have not worked on the vehicle since I bought it in 2012.

47 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2011

Driver and passenger side door locks have failed. It would appear to be the lock actuator/switch. Doors will not lock/unlock automatically. This was a sporadic problem over the last three months and has just started to fail completely. This is not only an inconvenience, this is a safety hazard since the door does not lock when the vehicle is being driven. Apparently this is a common problem with the 2008 chevy truck. Only 33,500 miles on the vehicle.

48 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/25/2011

I have a 4 door 2008 chev siverado 1500 and my third power door lock actuator has failed within 1 year. I have 24000 miles on vehicle. A google search indicates this is a problem with this vehicle. I consider this to be a safety issue since the door locks do not lock the doors when in drive. Passengers can open the door while vehicle is in motion. There is no doubt in my mind that this is a part defect and should be listed as a safety recall. I would appreciate it if you can look into this matter immediately. Thank you!.

49 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2011

Driver and rear passenger locks do not work. This is the 2nd time now that these dont work. First it was the front driver side, now its the same side but rear door. It is annoying not having acces to the doors via keyless entry. It was a one of the reason why I bought a keyless entry for safety reason for women. Also, I have a grandson who rides with me occasionally, and if emergency occurred, I fear he could be trapped as I would have to insert key to unlock driver door or worse. The rear door has no way to insert any key into door. How do you expect me to save my child if I can't even open it. I have to lower my driver side seat back and reach far back to where locks were placed and manually unlock the back door. Recall all trucks back and replace locks in them. This is a serious issue with safety and children safety!!!! this would make 3 locks. One when new purchase vehicle, 2 replaced by dealer and now 3rd its broken again!!!!.

Short in the electric windows switches for 2008 Chevrolet silverado. The drivers front window actuator has been replaced but all four window actuators have gone bad and must be replaced.

51 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/08/2011

Have a 2008 chevy silverado, the rear drivers door lock has failed and won't open; now the front door and window is making a dragging noise. Checy won't stand behind it. But I've seen several reports on line from others with the same problem. What if there was a wreck and someone needed to get to someone in the back or someone needed to get out. Plus if the front one gets worse it could happen to them also. Have taken it to 2 dealers in the portland or. Vancouver wa area, they won't stand behind it and neither will cheverolet. With so many complaints can't something be done to make them honor it.

52 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2011

Power door locks failed, someone can open the door when the truck is being driven and fall out of the truck, the locks are suppose to engage when the truck is put into drive.

54 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2010

The catalytic converter had strong sulfur smell after the first year. I complained to chevy dealer and was told there was no problem. By year three I complained for the third time again was told no problem the computer didn't show a code. I asked the mechanic to take it for a drive he returned saying the cat was junk it was replaced and I was told only to run top tier gas I did that but after about 8 months it smelled again my truck is just five years old and I need another converter, my power locks have each been replaced three times in second and third year. Now I need new airbag sensor and my truck has never been hit .

55 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2010

Forty-five days after purchasing a used 2008 chevy Silverado 1500 4x4, the service abs and stabilitrak warning lights appeared on the drivers informational screen. Following the manufactures recommendation to re-set the components did not resolve the issues. Warning lights appeared every time the vehicle was started. Vehicle was returned to dealer where the right-rear wheel sensor was found to be wet, corroded and broken. Dealer service advisor (and) technician stated they have seen this on many other [same make and model] trucks. ¿ damaged sensor replaced at my expense and old sensor retained by dealer.

56 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2010

The problem has been occurring over several months, it is as follows: the door locks activate to the on position then relock. Following that, all electronics shut off, the vehicle lurches, then everything comes back on and you continue on the way. It is especially dangerous at night because all lighting goes off and you are left in the darkness while driving at a high rate of speed. The vehicle has been into the Chevrolet dealer an several occasions and they have been unable to find the reason for the problem. The dealer's service manager stated that the vehicle was unsafe and agreed provide me a vehicle, however that was two weeks ago. I have had to purchase another vehicle to drive at night for fear of injuring myself or someone else during one of the episodes. The vehicle is a 2008 Chevrolet silverado crew cab with 4 years remaining on the warranty. The episodes occur without warning and at different frequencies, it may happen three or four within an hour or go for a day or two without happening. Each time it is a surprise especially if you are traveling 70 miles an hour and at night.

My father was driving a stock dual cab chevy 2008 silverado, not sure what the stock tires for this truck is. Was bought in lucedale, ms at walt massey Chevrolet. He was forced off the north side of road traveling west at approx. 60 mph and when reentering pavement or during yawing (still uncertain, but pictures were taken by investigators), the right tire detached from the axle which caused the vehicle to go off other side of road and hit a large oak. The onstar services, which were functioning, did not notify ems or family. The truck was still running when witnesses went to assist him. The vehicle started smoking inside the truck, which made witnesses leave scene and the vehicle blew up and nothing was left to identify him or the vehicle to notify family of his whereabouts.
