A safety recall was issued for the passenger-side frontal airbag inflator. Recall service was performed on 04-12-2021 at parkway Chevrolet in tomball, TX. The dash was cracked and broken when the service technician removed the cover for the airbag.
Dash cover keeps cracking I've talked to others silverado truck owners and they have the same problem the truck is not in motion when this happens . It's an on going occurrence.
I came back from work and the dash is cracked. Doors were locked.
Dash board cracked as apparently many others have. Not that many miles on it.
The dashboard is cracking around the passenger airbag.
Dash on vehicle is cracked, as it gets colder it continues to get worse causing crack to the point of the dash falling apart as driving.
As thousands of other gm customers. Cracked dashboard with the split by the passenger side air bag. When deployed dash could potentially shatter.
Dash is cracked over passenger air bag ,also cracked in center of dash, and cracked on driver side.
This is an airbag concern, there is cracking in the dash board near the pasenger airbag. This started two months ago, but the crack keeps devolping. I have also heard other cases of 2007-2013 gm vehicles. I don't know if this affects the airbag. This is a concern because I have heard other complaints. The vehicle was stationary when it started. I think it's because of the weak plastic.
The dash cracked next to the upper left corner of the front passenger side airbag cover. It did so completely by itself sometime between about may 10 and may 18 . It was fine the last time I dusted the dash off around may 10. I discovered it a couple of days a go. I have found that it seems to be common in 2oo7 to 2o13 gm truck type vehicles. My son in law had same problem with his 2010 silverado he bought new. I also purchased my 2009 silverado new. I also got the passenger airbag recall notice. Seems the airbag problem could be more dangerous because of the cracked dash. Don't know if truck was stationary or moving when this happened. I assume it may have been parked as I don't remember hearing any sort of cracking sound.
The dashboard is crackied, breaking, and deteriorating around the passenger side airbag and in various other areas along the dash. In the event of a front end collision, pieces of the fractured dash could become potential projectiles causing further injuries.
Cracked dashboard by passenger side air bag. My concern is if the air bag is deployed will it cause the dash to shatter causing more injury. I had the same crack in the same place on my 201 3 tahoe but I have traded it in. It seems that there a major issue with multiple Chevrolet vehicles similar to mine.
The dashboard immediately surrounding the case holding the passenger side airbag in my 2009 chevy silverado is cracked and broken in three (3) different places, including two (2) corners. I was advised this is a common issue in gm trucks, and that it is a structural integrity issue that could cause airbag deployment without accident. I was advised that since our truck is part of the takata recall to have our airbags turned off, especially since the dash holding the airbag is broken and damaged. Three-way Chevrolet in bakersfield, CA refuses to turn the airbag off, even after agreeing the cracked and broken dashboard poses an inherent safety risk by compromising the already defective airbags.
Cracking dash in corners of airbag compartment and on the drivers side. The dash was replaced because of this problem once and now the replacement dash has cracked in the same spots. I have concerns of airbag safety.
Dashboard is starting to crack around airbag compartment and splitting across to center of dash. If airbag deploys could send sharp objects flying into truck cab or possibly puncture airbag as it deploys. I am the original owner of this truck and it has never been in any accidents. 00, 2009 ##.
My dash was replaced at 63000 miles because it cracked on the passenger side by the airbag. Now it's cracked again by the airbag in 2 places this time. I took it back to hendrick Chevrolet and they said there was nothing they could do because it's out of the 12 months 12000 mile warranty. I would have to call Chevrolet. I called Chevrolet and talked to a nice lady who transferred me to a senior advisor who l explained my situation and concern over safety if the airbag deployed. She took a second and they have done testing and there is no safety issue is what I was told. Then she checked to see if there was any customer assistance and came back with the customer has to pay 100 % to fix because it's cosmetic. I've looked online and it looks like a huge problem everywhere. For mine to crack for the 2nd time within 28000 miles is uncalled for. What's it going to take someone getting seriously injured before they do something or fix the problem. Looks like there going cheap and take a chance. We the customers need any help we can get for Chevrolet to own up to this flaw in design and take responsibility.
A few days ago while detailing the interior of my truck, l noticed several cracks in the dash where the takata airbags deploy. I only have 69,000 miles on this vehicle. It has been garage kept. I took it to our local delership & the advised it was out of warranty & nothing could be done. I would like to add, l just received my recall notice of the deteriorating airbag recall for this vehicle. I'm fearful to drive this truck for fear of dash pieces & early airbag deployment. Dealership was contacted yesterday & l was advised by paul, a service writer, the parts to repair this recall are not available. I asked about what would happen if the takata inflators airbags deployed & l or passenger was killed or hurt? my response was there is nothing that could be done at this time.
Dash board is cracking on passenger side by airbag in tow places and on driver side by window vent.
The dash has several cracks throughout.
Cracking identified near the passenger side airbag on the dash of the truck.
Walked out to my truck today to find the dash was cracked right by the passenger airbag. While this does not bother me the fact that it could be a safety issue if the airbag deploys does. Shards of sharp plastic could easily fly about the cabin if an accident occurred. Gm needs to fix this and recall for this issue. The plastic is cheap and thin and from what I have researched it would include just about every gm truck made since 2007.
2009 chevy Silverado 1500 lt has a big crack on the dashboard on top of the airbag for the front passenger side.
I have a concern about the dash board around the passenger air bag. . The dash is cracking around the plastic cover and I know of 2 other trucks that have done the same thing? I have read different articles about people who have had the same issues and the dealer tells them it's too bad and they will not warrant the repairs. This to me is a very very bad safety matter just because if you are in a bad wreck and the air bag does deploy there is a good chance the dash will pop the bag if it doesn't blow the dash board up and send plastic projectiles flying all over the place possibly blinding or killing you from the scrapnal plastic pieces. Has anyone else complained about the dash boards being defective?.
I currently own a 2009 chevrlet silverado ltz crew cab with approximately 96k miles I have owned this car for about a year now since purchasing a noticed a crack on the driver side dashboard under the instrument cluster and on the passenger side next to the passenger air bag. Also the two door handles one being the driver front and the other being passenger front the chrome finish seems to be defective and not staying adhered o the handle and come off in sharp edges making it easy to cut you hand. As the dealership knows this is a defect in the manufacter they used on these trucks the 2 issues on here are not just on 1 vehicle but numerous silverado tahoes and trucks with the same dash and handles. It seems like they pose a safety issue because the handle may cut you and the dash may project sharp pieces if jagged plastic if involved in a collision. Myself and many others feel that the general motors knows about the safety issues and as the vehicle manufactures should do the right thing and fix a defective and dangerous product they put out with the form of a recall. I've seen this issue range from trucks between 2008-2012 with 1- 10000000 miles.
Dash board cracked by passenger airbag.
Dashboard cracked in 4 spots and defrost center dash vent broken. Happened over the first 4-5 years of ownership.
Dashboard crack in several places/including around air bags/there is a recall on air bags but a permanent fix has not been found. When a fix is found my vehicle can not be work on as is because the cracks around the air bag compartment. Cannot ride any one on the passenger side of my vehicle because of the fear of air bag deployment.
Dashboard above passenger side airbag has cracked , if airbag deploys plastic from dashboard will break& become airborne---- eye and face safety hazard. It should be recalled and replaced with better quality material. Guess it is cheaper to replace an eye than a cracked dashboard.
The dash cracked in several places and the door trims are all falling off.
Dash board is cracked and continues to crack. It rattles horribly and the major concern is that if the air bags are deployed, sharp hard pieces of plastic will be shot throughout the truck interior or the cracked dash could puncture the air bag making the air bag useless.
Takata recall my dashboard is cracked in 3 places near the airbag. I took it to the dealership and they told me that because my warranty was up they couldn't do anything. I expressed my concern with the cracks breing so close to where the airbag is located, but they did nothing about it.
I noticed that the that the console under the steering column started to crack. Nothing happened to cause the issue at all. Then about a year later I noticed that the dashboard near the airbag on the passenger side also began to crack. Of course at this time the vehicle was out of warranty, and I would have to repair out of pocket if I wanted fixed. There are several other things like the automatic lock actuator malfunctioned. I am really disappointed in this particular year workmanship. For this reason, I have recently purchased another vehicle, and did not consider chevy at all. They need to step up and fix this issue. It obviously is a defect that is a vendor issue.
2009 chevy silverado crew cab passenger dash cracked right in between airbag. Really concerned if airbag is engaged/deployed the dash will interfere or cause harm or bodily injury due to cracked dash pieces to become projectiles into the cab. Filed complaint with chevy GMC they wont fix it under warranty but will charge a goodwill fee. Prices vary from dealership to dealership depending on location. I am very concerned that this is a mass phenomena and a safety hazard.
My dash board is cracked and getting worse as the crack grows. The crack is behind the passenger side airbag and will cause the airbag to deploy in an unsafe maner and also cause extra debrie to fly around when the airbag does deploy due to the faulty dash that affects 2007-2013 gm trucks and SUV's.
"takata recall" dash board cracked . Major cracks through out. Concerns about flying debris if ever the air bags deploy.
