Chevy has poor quality frames trucks with less then 70k miles on them are unsafe to drive it is a 2009 been garage kept and well taking care of there are tons of these trucks not road worty because of frame me and most people still owe money on these trucks and get no compensation for them Ford Toyota make frame replacement panels while chevy has no one my truck has 69k on it and truck looks amazing till you look at the frame even the new trucks how can a dealer charge so much money for a truck and by the time it's paid off it's unsafe it's gonna cost me several thousands of dollars and hopefully be able to fix there poor quality issue if not I'm stuck paying 10,000 dollars to pay off truck or my credit is no good and can't get another vehicle I love paycheck to paycheck and just purchased this truck used 12 months ago the frame is solid on outside but it rotten from inside out just like ever other chevy sad for a truck with such low miles below is a image of how nice truck is and taking care of again this has 69,000miles on it now I can't get it to pass inspection.
On or around the end of September of 2022. My 2009 Chevrolet duramax began to act up . Showing a trouble code of u0101… tcm could not communicate with the rest of the vehicle. Contacted all the local auto parts stores. Nobody could get this part. Finally contacted the dealer. No luck , this part is on national back order. Contacted gm , they have no idea when this part is going to be available. After months of research I have found there is 1,000s of trucks parked awaiting for this one part. Ironically if you read some of the stories. Regardless of what year the truck is or how many miles is on it. They have all went out around the same time… odd my truck has been parked awaiting this part for 7 months. I’ve continued to make payments on this undriveable vehicle. Not only am I making payments on the truck I cannot pull my trailer for my lawn care business. Gm is costing us money everyday. Something has to change ASAP.
My 2009 silverado has a very rusted frame. I have replaced bedsides and rocker panels due to excessive rust. Now the frame has holes in it. I'm not sure when it becomes a critical safety incident, but it is bad. It is ridiculous that I have owned this truck since 2012 when it had 42,000 miles on it. This frame is terrible for a well-taken care of truck.

Airbags for the steering wheel did not deploy.
The dash is cracked. There was a lawsuit against gm about this issue, and im filling a complaint also. This can cause a safety issue by the broken dash could possibly puncture the airbag.
Incredible amount of frame rust. Vehicle only has 22500 miles but has extensive frame rust and front sway bar frame separation. Also heavily rusted brake lines. I have already replaced transmission shifter pawl and transmission cooling lines. I see widely posted occurrence on youtube & social media. I do not understand why gm is getting a pass on these horrible product issues. No listed recalls on site.
When replacing the fuel pump the mechanic noted that the frame had serious rust corrosion and also the brake lines had serious rust issues.
Musty odor from air condtioning system may cause reaction to mold or mildew.

Outside chrome door handles (3 of four) are extremely loose and falling off. One door handle fell off while driving on a highway in addition, the broken handles do not fasten securely.
On thursdsy, April 27, 2017, I parked my 2009 chevy silverado at home in my driveway after work and shut it off for the night. It was stationary at that point. I did not restart it or move it for the remainder of the day/evening. The next morning, the engine would not start. It sounded like it was going to start, but to no avail after several tries. I determined it was not getting fuel. I called a local auto repair tech who diagnosed it on site, to be a faulty chassis electronic control module, which sends fuel to the fuel pump. Upon researching the problem, I found a recall bulletin / product safety recall #14515b issued January 2015. It clearly states that the 2007-2013 Chevrolet silverado (along with many other makes/models/years) may have a chassis electronic module could have internal contamination (water, build-up causing wire and bolt corrosion). I believe this to be the case for my vehicle. According to the bulletin, the unsafe factor is that the "vehicle could stall while in motion and increase the risk of a vehicle crash. " www-odi. Nhtsa. Unknown. The passenger airbag I've noticed has not been working correctly. It doesn't come on when ppl are sitting in the seat. But I did a recall check and it's telling me all this. Manufacturer recall number2049151 NHTSA recall number16v381.
The locking mechanism broke on all passenger doors causing passengers unable to open the door. The key-less entry only opens driver and release on door does same. Dealership stated required to replace door lock actuator on all doors. This appears to be big problem with silverado trucks.

I have had this problem occasionally since I bought the truck new, but recently it started to do the same thing on a regular basis. Start the truck and it's fine, but go to shift into gear and the service engine, service traction control, and service abs lights and messages come on the dash. Today, I pressed the brakes while driving it and heard a click when I did so, so I pulled over and checked and found that if I push my brake pedal very far, my brake lights went out. I just had my vehicle serviced and inspected at the gm dealership about 9 months/5,000 miles ago. Hopefully this truck doesn't get me or my wife into a fatal accident. . .
