Instrument Panel Failure problems of the 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving 70 mph, the instrument panel lighting failed to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to an independent dealer where it was diagnosed that the passenger presence module became erratic and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact left a voice message for the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 186,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
