Dash began to crack around the passenger airbag door. If airbag was to go off, dash pieces would go towards occupants. Called gm, said no recalls and would have to replace out of pocket. Should be a safety recall. Numerous other similar models affected.
My dash on my 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is cracked in multiple places, including over the passenger airbag and instrument cluster. Over the instrument cluster there is now a 6 inch wide hole which leaves electrical components exposed. This is a large safety issue and I would like to have a factory replacement since this a widely known defect by gm.
Dashboard excessively cracking. Cracking around passengers airbag most severe.
My 2010 Silverado 1500 dash board has cracked in two locations. The vehicle was stationary parked at work. Siting outside in 73 degree weather. Car was cool on interior and a/c had been used prior to parking. Got in the truck. Started it up and heard a snap and there was the crack.
Shortly after purchasing my 2010 silverado a small crack appeared on the dash by the corner of the passenger air bag. A month or so later another crack developed above the instrument cluster that is now (years later) I have friends with similar trucks and these cracks occurred in the identical spot on their dashs. It has to be a risk to the airbag, or in any front impact. These cracks are sharp and right in the driver and passengers face. After searching online I have discovered it is a widespread issue.
Dash is cracking and gm doesn't want to assist with what is clearly a defect.
Was sitting in my truck truck was off. Just heard a load cracking noise! looked and seen 2 different cracks in my dash. Driver side and passenger side of dash.
I took my truck in because the a/c on the drivers side wasn't cooling properly. I was told it was $1000 to replace an actuator. I declined. I came back from dealership with a cracked dash around the passenger air bag. Apparently this and the faulty air bag are well known issues. So because gm doesn't have the part, I can't get my airbag fixed and the cracked dash make my vehicle less safe.
Dash is cracking in three places.
Plastic dash has cracks around airbag and above steering column. If I was to have a accident and the airbag deployed there would be plastic shrapnel deployed throughout the vehicle.
Dash pad is cracking around the air bag cover.
Noticed dash cracked, on passenger side on corner of air bag insert. I went online to find this crack and others common on I believe 2007 - 2013 gm trucks. I then contacted my gm dealer, edenton motors, edenton nc on 12/16/2015. I spoke with patty in service dept. I questioned her as to the possible dangers of the dash fragmentation, if the airbag should go off? she advised that there were no recalls or service bulletins for my 2010 chev Silverado 1500 lt. I then called gm customer care and spoke with another rep. They assigned me a case # 8-1712714405, they asked for VIN, mileage, dealer name and who I had spoke with at edenton motors (patty) also there were no recalls. I again voiced my concern over possibility of dash fragmenting and possible injury. He in turn at my request transferred me to a supervisor "cory" explained everything again, my online findings of numerous dashes cracking and the possibility of injury should airbag deploy. He advised of a cost assist program, however I needed to get a gm estimate of repair, we left to visit family the next day and returned on 12/30/2015 while away gm called again asking about the problem and to call this on 1/22/2015 . I call gm customer care and was advised I had been assigned a sr advisor "lenisha" ext 5913689. She advised that I needed the estimate to continue. I covered my concerns with her also. On 1/4/2016 I took to 2010 Chevrolet silverado to edenton motors to them to examine. They would forward there findings to gm customer care, on 1/5/2016 I called lenisha, she would look into it. At 2:30pm 1/5/2016 patty for edenton mtrs called and advised that cost of repair was around $800. 00, my cost would be $500. 00. I advised her no thank you. This is ongoing problem with these vehicles since 2007, retired with 35 years in law enforcement, I honestly believe that this is a real safety concern.
My dashboard has cracked from the airbag to the windshield defrost vent.
Dashboard is cracking apartment. Cracks around airbag on dash.
The dashboard is cracked around airbag.
The dash has a crack on the drivers side above cluster and passenger side air bag to the bottom of the windshield.
The dash is cracked everywhere piece is breaking off!!.
I have cracks on my passenger side airbag, and over my instrument cluster. This is a well known issue, and I'm sure that if my airbag went off, the plastic would become shrapnel.
Major and multiple large cracks in upper dash near airbag and instrument cluster. Gm claims no complaints received on this problem.
The dashboard on my 2010 Silverado 1500 has cracks on it. Because of these cracks it is a concern that the airbags will be affected if deployed.
Dash cracked near passenger air bag.
Cracks have formed along the dash board on both the driver and passenger side without any sort of event happening that would lead the cracks forming such as an accident, etc. The cracks on the passenger side are around the passenger airbag that seems to be an safety issues if the airbag deploys. The cracks lead to sharp edges that could either break off and cause sharp plastic pieces to fly at the passenger in the event of airbag deployment or the sharp edges may puncture the airbag causing it to not perform as needed to protect the passenger. After talking to the Chevrolet body shop and reading several other complaints, this issue is common not only in the silverado but according to the body shop manager, it stretches across all gm platforms such as the escalade.
Dashboard cracked on driver side and runs over to air bag on passenger side if air bag deploys cracked dash could deflate air bag my dealer nor general motors would help said they would fix for $1100. 00 dollars this is a safety defect.
About two years into owning this truck, (purchased brand new from dealer), the dashboard cracked at the corner of the passenger side airbag. There was no incident which caused the dashboard to crack. Nothing hit it, no accident, etc. This is a potential hazard and it seems to be a recurring problem for many Chevrolet owners. I took it in to the dealer and they said it wasn't covered by any warranty. How is it okay for gm to know about a defect with many of their vehicles and not have to assume responsibility for fixing it??.
The dashboard is cracking and falling in all around the airbags and instrument cluster . If the truck is ever in a wreck the pieces can injure or cause death to the driver and passengers.
Shortly after purchasing my 2010 silverado a small crack appeared on the dash by the corner of the passenger air bag. A month or so later another crack developed above the instrument cluster that is now (years later) a foot in length. There is a 3rd crack developing. I have 3 friends with similar trucks and these cracks occurred in the identical spot on their dashs. It has to be a risk to the airbag, or in any front impact. These cracks are sharp and right in the driver and passengers face. After searching online I have discovered it is a widespread issue.
The interior dash panel on my Silverado 1500, 4x4, crew cab has cracked behind the instrument cluster causing a loud rattle when going over bumps. The dash panel has also started to crack at the passenger side air bag location and I feel this could be a very dangerous situation if the airbag were to deploy, causing plastic dash parts to dislodge and hit occupants.
Dash is cracked over the air bags. In case of accident, cracked dash pieces will be projected into cabin of vehicle causing injury or death.
Our truck has a crack/hole in the dash, right side. A/c "recycle" air doesn't work from day one; constantly smell exhaust. Rear 60/40 seat rattles whether up/down. Front passenger door outside handle broke; cheap quality plastic; seat cushion bottom not holding up, already worn. Moisture in the white reverse lights.
