1 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2020

Radiator has stress cracks in the upper left corner. The dealer has done water pump replacement and thermostats upgrade. Dealer has replaced radiator 3 times and I have paid labor and parts. The cracks occur about every 2 years.

2 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 05/13/2020

Long story short. This is a weekly issue that I no longer feel safe in this truck. Last year about 5/2020 I took it on a 6 hour-round trip drive. The highway is 70 miles per hour. About midway back home the truck jerked hard and shut off for a second and turned back on. While I was driving on the highway at 70mph! I pulled over to make sure everything was still "okay" to drive home for the next 2 hours. I am very lucky that, that did not result into a serious collision. I had a full truck of people including a child along with a 4x4 in the bed of the truck. This continues to be an on going issue with the "stabilitrack" alert always coming on every second. Another occasion I was pulling into a parking lot when half-way through the entrance way, the truck shut off, completely. None of the lights turned on, the truck would not turn on for a good 10 minutes. I was blocking the entrance and there was nothing I could do about it. Then just recently I notice that my lights, all lights flicker when I move the steering wheel or when I step on the break and gas pedals. If I drive it long enough all sound is off even though the volume is up. Then when I need to make any turn, any direction, the wheel becomes hard to turn to the point where I cannot move the steering wheel then it shuts off again. I have been lucky that I have not been in a serious collison due to this. I see a lot of complaints regarding the same issues I have. I have two small children and if this truck is the reason we get injured, I will be seeking legal action. I have taken it in to a local dealership with my concerns but the diagnostics never bring up an issue.

3 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 09/04/2018

Austin, TX 2nd time ac goes out, truck has 67,000 miles. Previous failure (Nov, 2016 @ 39378 miles) was due to faulty line/design in refrigerant discharge hose. Had repaired by dealer and bracket installed. Sept. 2018, after leaving truck parked for several days while traveling, experienced warm air blowing out of vents upon return. Working with dealer to resolve, for the 2nd time.

4 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2018

At only 42,000 miles (warranty is 36,00 or 3 years) there is a crack in my a/c hose. The a/c was blowing hot air. They found a cracked hose at dealership part # 2348932 needed to be replaced along with a bracket costing $750. 00. This is ridiculous for a truck with very little mileage.

5 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2018

On June 3, 2018 upon cranking the truck, the a/c began blowing extremely hot air to the point it left a red mark across my hand after feeling for the vent waiting for the temperature to cool down. It was 90 degrees outside and raining so windows couldn't be rolled down. Windshield remained foggy due to humidity within the truck and I had to pull over frequently when driving in order to wipe the windshield to be able to see. Two children in the backseat of the truck, one in a rear facing car seat were beyond over heated and well on their way to heat exhaustion by the time we reached the dealership due to temperatures reaching above 95 within the cab. Truck was seen at dealership and was advised due to vibration from driving, the a/c discharge hose was cracked allowing the heat from the engine to be blown directly into the cab of the truck. Hose was replaced ad a bracket added to improve the stability of the hose and refrigerant added. Eight months and 4 days later, a/c suddenly began blowing hot air again. Was advised at the dealership that the high side service port was now leaking and needed a valve replacement and refrigerant added again.

6 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2018

A/c only blows hot air, cannot defog windows at certain times and increases the likely hood of my newborn getting over heated. It is a known issue with general motors and they said it is the NHTSA that will not do the recall because it is not dangerous. Well we will see how dangerous it is when we cant see because it will not defog window or what the hospital bill will be when my newborn overheats because of a faulty a/c compressor and bracket for the hose. A 2014 should not need a $1600. 00 repair. That is 3 months payments for a a/c.

7 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 03/27/2018

62000 miles, and my 2014 silverado's, ac condensor is gapped, and seeping freon. . . This needs to be a national recall. Even an ac man told me he keeps a huge amount of these condensors on hand because they break too often, and too early in a 2014-15 silverado's. Simply a design flaw . . And say to costly for such a simple crack. Thank you for recalling this.

8 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 09/11/2017

Today I purchased a new set of truck tires at dave stern tire located in paterson ,new jersey. Near completion the service manager informed me that one of my lug nuts split/cracked on one side ,the caster cover on the lug nut came off. I observed that like has happened to my 2006 Chrysler 300 the same thing and problem-there is a safety hazard that the lug nuts can crack and come off while driving . All of those lug nuts sheered off and or rounded and costed me money to replace all of them. On my Chrysler ,like now my chevy silverado I have to go to a certified dealer to purchase all new ones, these lug nuts cannot be purchased in a automotive store due to the certain tappered end to fit securely to keep the wheel on ,in closeing this is a dealer defect and new lug nuts- are need to replace the casted covered/and lug nuts that was original equipment when this truck was purchased from dealer originally. This is a safety hazard waiting to happen.

9 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2017

I have a 2014 silverado and the ac condenser just went out. I brought it to a shop and it appears they bracket has a leak and the entire condenser has to be changed. The mechanic stated that this is a known issue and after reading all the other complaints on your site it appears he was right. Gm knows of this issue and has not placed a recall for this part.

10 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 06/26/2017

Per dealership the upper ac hose that hooks to the condenser will crack due to needing a bracket that was not installed at all. The cost for me to repair is 1200 to 1500 bit why when there is a known issue will Chevrolet not fix it. Please respond the a. C. Worked fine one day and then absolutely nothing the next day. Does not cool at all. Can't afford to fix a Chevrolet error and prefer not to take it further. I would just like my a. C. To be fixed! please.

11 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 06/26/2017

Known gm issue with a/c condenser. National back ordered part. . . Nearly every 2014 silverado has has this issue, or is going to. Also known issue with radiator cracking issue. . . . Nearly all 2014's will have this issue if not already. Both my condenser and radiator has to be replaced. Gm must fix these known issues.

12 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2017

A/c condenser developed a crack and has failed / all freon has leaked out, have tried to work with gm and nothing but just telling us 2 to 3 months out for the part / it's 99 degrees with 70% today in south carolina plus this is the 9th week I have nothing. The local dealership tried to step in and help because gm would not and they will not even answer the dealerships calls. I'm one pissed off consumer with no other place to turn.

13 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2017

I own a 2014 chevy silverado. VIN: 1gcvkrec4ez340861. The ac stopped cooling. One day it was ice cold. The next day it blew hot air. I talked to my dealer and they say that it's a know issue and that gm issued a TSB for repair guidelines but have yet to issue a recall. They say the repair is between 1000. 00 and 1800. 00. They said I could get a refund if a recall is issued later on. They said they would look up the TSB number for me, but have not yet to given it to me. Looking at multiple forums I see many owners have the same issues. Several say they got the issue repaired and their paperwork stated "performed pit5337". Most threads mention that this is a known mfg flaw with the hose bracket for this model. The flaw allows the hose fitting to crack over time. It appears that gm includes a support bracket with the new hose as part of the repair. That replacement bracket is gm23264893. I have an appointment with my dealer to have my vehicle checked to confirm that my issue is caused by this flaw. The did say that they have had 8 vehicles in for this repair. The dealer is ray Chevrolet in foxlake, IL. 847-537-3300. Once I saw how many hits I got on my google search for this issue, I was shocked that there is still no recall. Please help. 14 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2017

The condenser unit has cracked and come away for the structural housing causing the unit to leak freon meaning that the a/c does not work. This is a design fault for the 2014 Chevrolet silverado models through gm/Chevrolet and currently there is a national back order on the part (nr. 84211191). This shows that there are a large number of people experiencing this problem and as things stand Chevrolet cannot even give me an estimate as to when the part will become available again. I feel as though this should be grounds enough for some sort of reimbursement / recall.

15 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 11/17/2016

Austin, TX while driving home with infant child, truck ac would not cool cabin in an unseasonably warm November afternoon. Took truck to dealership and diagnosed as crack in high side refrigerant discharge hose. Had it repaired & bracket installed. While having truck in shop became aware that this was an emerging issue and gm has not acted on resolving the design flaw.

16 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 02/05/2016

A/c line on my new truck keeps on breaking, vehicle is out of warranty by 10,000 miles, however this is a known problem by the manufacture, they now want to sell me a bracket to prevent the line from viberatiing, which is the cause of this line breaking. I find this not fair to anyone who is having this problem with this gm product, silverado or GMC sierra equipped with this engine.

17 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 02/11/2014

Was driving in the right hand side lane just went through a intersection. Less then a minute later the tire bursted and my steering wheel was forced to the right and I hit the curb, bending and denting my wheel. I didn't hit anything or go over anything. Got out of the car and the tire was completely flat. Had to call a mechanic friend to come and help take the wheel and tire off and put my spare wheel and tire on. When the tire came off there was no nails or sign of impact on the tire. On the inner side of the tire that faces the motor there is a 3-5 inch skinny jagged crack straight line on the side wall part. I always keep plenty of air in my tires there was no tire pressure warnings on the car before I left. I have a screen shot of my tire pressure an hour before this incident occurred. This happened to my front passenger side tire. The tire is defective but the dealership I have bumper to bumper warranty with won't do anything. They state I must have had let the tire pressure get low or I must of hit something. I have proof my pressure was fine and I didn't hit anything. The crack is on the inner part of the wall if I would hit something it would been on the tread part or on the outer wall.
