general problems of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 - part 1

The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 mph, the traffic ahead started slowing down and the contact depressed the brake pedal, and there was resistance coming from the brake pedal. The contact depressed the brake pedal with added force and shifted the vehicle down to 1st gear. The contact stated that the brake and stabili-trak warning lights were illuminated. The contact continued driving to the destination and both warning lights continued to turn off and on, with the brake pedal remaining firm while being depressed. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.

The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 19v761000 (service brakes, hydraulic, service brakes, electronic stability control (esc). The failure mileage was approximately 147,000.

Stabilitrak off window randomly appeared on my dash. Followed by radio shutting off, wipers going erratically, horn honking, steering wheel locked up, and cruise control shut off all as I was driving on a major highway.

When I'm driving the truck the steering wheel turn to the right side very dangerous when you are driving 45 to 70 miles I'm call the dealer and no recall for this problem.

While backing up or parked steering wheel gets really hard and the lights go dim radio turns off and a sign in the monitor showing steering assist is reduced drive with care.

Multiple times moving at slow speeds the vehicle shuts off and all kinds of warnings pop up. Service power steering, service stabilitrak, service trailer brake controller, check engine light ect. When the vehicle does this it loses all power and the steering wheel violently jerks itself to one side. You can tell when it's about to happen because the power steering will intermittently start to struggle and go out and then the whole thing shuts down. Silverado 2014 crew cab 5. 3 with 79500 miles.

Numerous incidents while driving and making a turn into a public parking lot from a 55 mph hwy, all power went off, engine died and just before this steering was very hard to turn, stabil track light has been coming on. Gm dealer stated maybe bad battery, I had the new battery checked and it is good.

My steering wheel locked up and lost control of steering.

I got a stabilitrak failure chime and message with a reduced steering assist message and I lost my power assist for a second then it came back. I was fortunate that it was just myself in the truck going slow and pulling into a parking lot. I'd hate to think of my wife behind the wheel going down the freeway with my grand kids inside.

There are multiple complaints on the net on multiple forums for this specific issue for these specific models and years. My truck has roughly 44000 miles on it. I feel as if I'm getting the runaround at the dealership. Like I stated earlier this has happened multiple times to me and there are thousands out there in the same situation as me. This is a serious safety concern that gm needs to address and fix.

Started making a turn and the truck instantly shut off leading to power steering loss causing me to end up in the opposing lane almost hitting two children and their father on bikes. Father didn't have much patience with me trying to explain that it was a problem with the truck. . . Fix this issue or else it will become a huge liability. Buy back all of these trucks and crush them.

Loss of power to vehicle when making turns at low speeds on city roads, in parking lots, and on and off highways, you have to place vehicle in park and turn back on. Steering assist and stabilitrak has been becoming disabled on a regular basis along with the steering wheel being jerked out of my hands while making turns on city streets, in parking lots, and on and off the highway. Service stabilitrak and steering assist messages are displayed during these time however do not leave a check engine light no to be scanned. Gm dealer states they are not able to duplicate the issue and are not able to fix it. This is a safety concern for me and other drivers on the road.

Sometimes when I hold down on the brake pedal some electrical issue happenes and my steering wheel gets very hard my ac turns off my whole dashboard turns off and so does my radio then after about 10 seconds it turns back on. I also noticed that when I'm rolling up the windows my headlights dim. I think somethings wrong with the electrical system of the vehicle I had the battery checked once and it was not the voltage it needed I replaced it with the battery from the dealership it was well for about three months and the issue reoccurred. When I am reversing my steering wheel gets very hard as I'm pressing on the pedal while I'm parking it doesn't do it all the time but it does do it frequently.

While driving through a public parking lot, at a slow turn the truck stopped dead. No power, barely was able to stop without hitting parked vehicles. To make it even more dangerous than it already was, another car almost hit me because of my sudden stop. I was then trapped in my pickup. Windows and doors would not open. No response from turning the key. This is the second time its happened and both were at low speeds. The first time I thought it was my error. I looked it up on social media and found many others had the same problem. Some people said no recall on such a 'common' and unsafe problem, another said there was a recall open. I was told by gm headquarters no recall. Told by service mgr at the dealership, told me there is a recall issued. Only after I brought it to the dealership, they tell me it'll cost me $364. I asked about what he told me only 3 days earlier of the recall, he then denied it. With the severity of the problem and the numbers of persons who complained, I would think this should be at chevy's expense. I will be taking the truck on vacation the end of the month. If something should happen, I've instructed our two children to secure a good lawyer and open a wrongful death/injury suit. I will have documentation of the information I reviewed through social media comments along with this complaint and the repairs by this 'certified' dealership at their ready.

Twice now while driving in a parking lot and also on a street making a turn, the electrical flashed, turned off and then the truck died, locking the power steering and power brakes. Dealer service department has twoce said battery, but based on so many others with the same issue on many cehvy forums, this is an electrical issue and needs a recall. Extremely dangerous!.

Stabilitrek flashes and then vehicles steering locks up and the truck dies. Usually it's when I'm going slow and usually it's when I'm turning. This is happening now in August of 2020 but also happened a few years ago and then there was a recall. It's very dangerous. No warning and the truck dies very unexpectedly. Please fix this problem I see others are complaining too.

After driving approximately 100 miles I returned back to town. As I was slowing the steering wheel jerked a small amount to the left. I slowed to a stop at an intersection. When accelerating and turning left the steering wheel jerked three times. After that I turned into the wal-mart parking lot. Slowed to make a right turn. This time the wheel jerked very hard to the right and the engine shut off. I was able to stop. Put the truck into park restart the engine and move to a safe location out of traffic.

150 miles after regular service of engine light/abs/and stabiltrak lights being on, and an oil change, the truck stalled (luckily I was in my own driveway). Shortly after, the engine light, followed by abs light came on. Suddenly the speedometer gauge acted wildly, there was a very hard shift. I put it on cruise control just to help the engine quit hard shifting. . . . Cc cancelled itself out. Everything sets back to normal for a minute or less and it all happens again, this time taking away power steering and a louder "hard shift". In the mean time, every warning I think there is would pop up. . . . "stabiltrak off, starring assist reduced. . . Etc". This just continues and seems to get more aggressive, more frequent. . . Including resetting to normal briefly each time. Schumacher Buick/gm/chevy said it could be tcm, or ecm, or another I can't recall. Unhappy with lack of knowledge of issue, and a "let's try this then this then this. . ", it has perplexed not one but two very accredited mechanic teams. The truck has 130,000 miles, and was serviced as it should have been by the chevy dealer since iacquired it new. It never had any similar issue until just after its most recent maintenance. Thankfully this all occurred within miles of my home, as the issue is most definitely a threat to any hopes of safety. Towing it, is the only way to safely move that vehicle after experiencing the issues.

While driving stabilitrack light comes on all electrical flickers while driving, also shuts off while driving which is dangerous and can be fatal.

There is an unintended braking during drive started to happened. Usually happens in auto and 4wd mode. The truck was in the middle of freeway of around 70 to 80 miles per hour and suddenly brakes jammed by itself. This happened more than 5 times. Checked the VIN first time through NHTSA website for VIN recall and shows 2 recalls. First one for ebcm reprogramming and second one for equipment vacuum pump replacement. Bring it to chevorlet of folsom, CA and they did reprogramming without the part replacement and told that truck is running fine. But the issue still persists. Now bring it to them and they said we dont deal with salvage titles. And just for my sake checked again for recall on NHTSA website and it shows none or might be they reported it fixed. But the issue is still there.

Truck flashed service stbilitrak and then shut off while driving and shot right and made me go up and over a curb at 35 mph. Scanner says voltage lost in bcm and now it says to service the trailer brake system with no trailer hooked up.

When I am turning, my vehicle loses power and or dies. If my emergency lights are on it causes my ac to turn so low it almost doesn't work and other electrical problems. I was almost hit in an intersection because my vehicle died due to loss of power when I was turning.

When the truck is running it loses power and the ac turns off and the radio turns off and a message comes on the message box stability rack and then the ac turn back on and the radio. Then when drive and try to make a turn truck turns off have to put the truck in park and turn it back on.

It started out as the truck losing all power when entering the truck . No power to the dash or ignition. Then power would return out of nowhere. Lately the truck will lose all power while the truck is running sitting still and moving down the highway. Engine will stay running but no dash no a/c and when the dash returns stabitrac notification is on the screen . Today the truck did this 11 times in 1 hour and even lost steering control while driving down a large highway. While on the side of the highway with the hazards on the dash, controls and a/c intermittently flicked for a full 2 minutes.

When on highway, when turn signal is engaged the cruise control turns off. Also at low speed, ac will turn off, brake stability warning appears and power steering goes off.

Has occurred multiple times with the vehicle was stationary, in motion, on a city street, highway, turning, at a variety of speeds. The vehicle temporarily loses power and power steering. The stabilitrack and steering assist indicators appears on dashboard. Sometimes the power returns, other times I will have to put the vehicle in park, reposition key, and restart the engine. I had vehicle serviced by dealership earlier this year, and my VIN did not match any recalls. They couldn't identify the issue and suggested I replace the battery. I replaced the good battery with a new battery, and still experience this issue. This occurs multiple times a week, sometimes multiple times a day, and has been ongoing for at least a year. .

Our truck will shut off while driving down the road. The radio and air will turnoff first then the truck will shut right off. It is scary when you are towing and going right along on the highway when it turns off. Someone it's going to get killed before anything it's done. We had the recall done but it did not resolve the problem. The company does not care because I have complain about this problem before and nothing was done. Drivers beware and stay safe!.

It is too bad I can not check all that apply! I have the same problems as other people loosing steering and getting the stabiltrack message at low speeds. When this happens you loose all power and the lights all dim. I also have begun to noticed that while driving down the highway in cruise control any turn of the vehicle with the steering wheel kills the cruise control. I also have the trailer, break system message flash randomly at low speeds without a trailer or pulling anything this is just annoying the other problems are major safety issues!!! I have had this truck in the dealership several times had very poor customer service and wasn't even told about the recalls that were on it. However, I don't seem to see any recalls for the problems that I have and that thousands of other people are describing with the electrical issue and stabiltrack at low speeds. I also want to add that the rear seatbelts in this vehicle are complete junk.

Warning lights came on for steering assist while driving down the highway. At this time, the air conditioning and radio turned off, but the engine remained running. Dismissing the alert returned the a/c and radio, and the truck continued running. A few minutes later, an alert popped up for stabilitrack, the a/c turned off, and the engine shut off, all while moving. I lost my brakes, was still able to steer, and had to use the emergency brake to come to a stop. This is extremely dangerous. There are people all over the internet talking about grounding issues related to this, and it's not uncommon. Why is there not a recall for this?.

When driving with the cruise control on at approximately between 55-70 mph the dash flickers and the truck will occasionally will turn off completely for approximately 1 second and then come right back on. This problem will occur also if you tap the brakes after this happens. Upon parking the truck the flickering of the dash can occur more mildly by engaging the brake, turn signals, or high beams. Seems impossible to use the cruise and turn signals to change lanes without this happening. Stability trak error comes up when the truck turns completely off. It has once said something about steering assist going off or something like that.

While driving vehicle on city street, going straight or turning, voltage will go down and result in the truck cutting out (radio) lights flicker (headlights and dash lights) and service stabitrak will come on dash then the airbag light will come on. With final result of having surges of power steering with voltage drops. Resulting in almost a head on collision. Pulled over and shut the truck off for a minute then it will be fine. Took to local Chevrolet dealership, they �visually checked� all engine grounds, battery terminals, starter wire, alternator wire, and power steering wires. Everything checked out good. It did throw 13 dtc's related to low voltage. Haven't had a problem in 7,000 miles and now it is starting again. I am uncertain of the faulty issue, and so is my local dealership. But, they wanna �try� all kinds of different things at my expense, which I think is wrong. There are recalls for the same year of truck with the same issues.

While driving 73 mph on the interstate I would notice that the dash light will flicker and the touchscreen as well. As I got to 78 mph the electronics blackout, steering wheel tighten up for about 2 seconds then everything came back on. As I decided to decelerate without the brake to get off on the next exit I hit my right signal light and the electronics flicked off and on again and maintenance stabiltrak showed up. When I got to a stop I cut the truck off an back on everything was back to normal. 30 miles down the road the dash lights was flickering again. I kept the truck steady at 73 until I got home. Upon backing into my driveway the truck shuts off. When I cranked the truck a message read roll the window down and up.

The steering assist comes on in the info screen, truck power steering goes out, and crusie control shuts off. This happens at 60mph, and also happens when the turn signals are use at a low speeds.

An electrical problem that happens randomly. It will be fine for 6-8 months then it will act up. It starts when I brake the lights will dim. The stabiltack light will flash off and on. While still in motion. The truck will lose power and the brakes and steering will lock up. Usually when coming to a stop or turning slow. It's happened at stop lights, parking lots and a parking garage. This is very dangerous for myself and others. I have no control at this point. I've also experienced the truck not cranking but after it sits for a while it will crank like nothing was ever wrong with it. Interior lights and door locks come off and on. I've researched this problem online and it seems a lot of ppl have the exact same problems. What everyone is saying is that it is the g218 ground issue. I've took it to the dealership and they act like they haven't heard of the problem. Every time I've took it they charge me a fortune and tell me to put a new battery in it. I hope this get investigated because it's a very serious issue and someone will be hurt. I am actually scared to drive this vehicle. Thank you.

Everything turned off while driving on fwy at 80 miles. My doors unlocked truck turned off. Turned back on. Airbag light came on after everything turned off.
