Loss of steering at low and high speed. Dash saying service stabilitrak and steering wheel locks up and loses power even at 65 mph.
Whenever we make a slow turn the truck with shut off right in the middle of the turn. It has turned off while driving down the highway going at least 50mph. It is scarry when the truck shuts off with no warning.
While driving with cruise control on when I turn my signal on to change lanes my cruise will turn off and my dash lights flicker. When driving at slower speeds and try to turn into parking spaces stabil track warning pops up and truck will lose power shutting the engine completely off withthe key turned . The doors will lock and unlock during this time and it will show nearly every warning light on the dash. It has shut off and not started back up. It has left me stranded in the middle of a parking as well as busy highway when making a turn. Also the service trailer break system will randomly pop up on dash screen and immediately clear itself and keep going off repeatedly back to back annoying you to death. This truck is suppose to have a high safety rating for I have 2 small children and I don't need a 5 year old truck with less than 100,000 miles shutting off in middle of turn on a major highway with my kids with me. The shutting off and the trailer break system has been steadily getting worse. Gm needs to get this fixed or they will have legal actions from multiple people.
Stabililock light comes on. Trailer braking system comes on. Loss of dashboard lights. Lights go dim. Truck shuts off while moving. Won't start sometimes and yes it has a new battery. It has shut off on me about 5 times so far while driving on highway. Started about 3 months ago.
While driving on the highway going about 70 to 75mph my 2014 silverado just cuts off and shuts down gravelly reducing my velocity. This occurred as I was merging onto a lane and when I accelerated to merge my truck turns off. All the displays in the vehicle turn off including my radio and a/c. I lost power steering functions and I could not even turn on my emergency lights. My 2014 silverado also stalls while coasting to a stop, the power steering goes first and the steering wheel gets hard to turn and the vehicle shuts of in order to turn it on I have to put it in park and turn the ignition again. The cause is unknown.
Ok so I took my truck in for the brake recall which nothing was wrong with it but now when engaging brakes vehicle won't stop brake peddle goes to the floor then brake light stabilizer light there's one more light that comes on can't seem to remember so I have no idea what they did to my truck but I would really appreciate it if chevy could fix it at no charge being that nothing was wrong in the first place and now after they touched my truck my brakes is fucked up peddle shakes like crazy when slowing down.
While driving the engine cuts off and there is power loss. I loose all power including power steering etc. I can restart the truck right away while driving. And it turns back on while driving.
While driving on the highway merging lanes at about 70 mph my vehicle blacked out. The engine cut off, the lights went out and all my functions were lost. I wasn't able to steer and I wasnt even able to put my emergency lights on. Everything turns off it is almost like the whole car just hits a reset button. . After it stalls the airbag light come on and stays on for about a minute or so and the display on the dash goes to the media section. This isn't the first that that it occurs, it happens at random taking even months to happen again. This is very dangerous and could cause several injuries. I purchased this vehicle with the illusion that it would keep my new family safe however it has caused me nothing but frustration time and most importantly worry for my life and my family's. I have video documentation.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet silverado. The contact stated that while driving 5mph, the steering lost power and caused the vehicle to turn right and crashed into a parked vehicle. The service stabilitrak light and power steering warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the power steering was restored automatically. A police report was filed. The contact sustained a broken hand that did not require medical attention. The air bags did not deploy as the front of the vehicle has a brush guard. The corner of the front passenger's side of the contact's vehicle was slightly damaged. The contact stated that the vehicle was serviced under NHTSA campaign number: 17v414000 (steering) at autonation Buick GMC corpus christi (6602 s padre island dr, corpus christi, TX 78412) however, the steering and service stabilitrak warning lights illuminated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure however, no assistance was offered at this time. The contact stated that the vehicle was currently and the dealer for the repairs of unknown recalls and the loss of steering failure. The failure mileage was approximately 82,300.
I was driving approximately 70mph on the highway and my chevy silverado speedometer lights began to flicker as well as my dash radio that flashed off and came right back on. While these other two things were going on a message on the dash appeared as "service stabilitrak". On a separate occasion, I was going approximately the same speed as mentioned before with cruise control activated and suddenly the cruise control deactivated and the "service stabilitrak" message appeared along with the "deactived power steering", as well as the speedometer lights were flickering. Also it happens most often when I signal while going over 70mph, this is usually the thing that commences all of the messages and flickering of lights along with what I mentioned above.
My seatbelt has locked on me a couple of times without even being on break an the foot area is extremely hot . I've took it to get serviced an it stills does it . My steering wheel an locked also I just don't drive it like I use to an I'm still paying a note on it . Very frustrating . I was driving at all time these problems occurred.
My 2014 chevy silverado, it's elecktronicks debility control system comes on inadvertently, causing my vehicle to lose control. My track she control light comes on, steering becomes difficult, breaks stop working, I have gone off the side of the highway twice in the past 3 weeks. I have taken my vehicle to chevron way at least 5 times for this issue with no resolution. Now my vehicle as a 101000 miles and they will not look at it again with out money. This is the most dangerous vehicle I have ever driven, and general motors will not help me at all. Chevrolet will not honor this is you and would rather me crash my vehicle, then help me resolve it. Stay away from general motors they are not putting out good products at this time period.
Had an issue with the eps cutting out after the truck was cranked and the wheel was turned immediately to one side. Took the truck in to deal with the recall out on the vehicle which dealt with eps cutting out. A week later, while turning into a parking lot the eps cut out yet again (this time while moving) and straightened the steering wheel back up. Luckily, there was nothing that I could hit because I lost all control of the steering. I contacted gm and they said there was nothing that they could do. Someone could hurt due to this issue. When this issue occurs the service power steering box pops up in the dash.
My trucks traction control will come on when getting on or off onramps, turns in the mountains, around town, everywhere. It is very scary, the truck will show the traction control light and begin to lose power and become hard to steer. I went off the freeway yesterday with my whole family in the truck,. I was on the freeway taking a ramp to another freeway and the light came on, the truck lost power, the steering became hard to turn and I could not make the freeway exchange and went off the highway. I have taken it to Chevrolet 2 times and they said that they were either unable to recreate the situation, or that they don't know what the problem is. My next door neighbor has the very same truck, year, make and model with the same issue. This truck is a deathtrap. This has been going on for 2 years with no resolution. I will never buy another vehicle from chevy, because they do not care if we got killed or not, or they would have kept working to figure out the problem.
While operating vehicle at low speed and turning, the steering wheel turns back the other direction repeatedly. When using turn signals the dash and headlights flicker as well as when I press the break pedal sometimes causing the vehicle to turn off!.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While operating the vehicle, the stabilitrak message displayed and the power steering malfunctioned. The contact stated that the steering wheel became very difficult to turn and the headlights flashed on and off. The vehicle was taken to roberts Chevrolet(3301 s. Mill st, pryor, ok) where it was diagnosed that the battery cable was faulty. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 92,000.
Traveling at all speeds the stabilitytrak will turn off when hitting the breaks. Simultaneously, the truck will lose quickly lose power and then it comes back on. I have taken the truck to get fixed multiple times at a chevy dealership and each time they come up with something new that could be the problem. I have called and make 2 complaint to gm/chevy (8-3966798693 and 9-5684003780) both times the manufacturer have done nothing for me. I did the recall back in 2017 for this problem and that did not work. I have had grounding wire work done, a new battery put in, a new engine fuse block with wiring harness, and recently a new steering column. Nothing has worked.
Turned a corner while braking, the engine died, "service stabilitrac soon" illuminated on the instrument panel; driving down the road pulling a light weight boat trailer, the engine died but came back on immediately and the "service stabilitrac" illuminated; pulled into a parking lot and as I turned about halfway through the turn the engine died and "service stabilitrac soon" illuminated. I took to the truck to the Chevrolet dealer and they diagnosed the positive battery terminal was loose and the positive cable had too much resistance - $507. 00 later and approximately 10,000 miles later reared it's ugly head again. Coming back from a morning drive to the lake and the 'service stabilitrac' light illuminated but the truck didn't die, a little further down the road it did the same thing and died but started right back up on its own while driving, started to back into my driveway and it died in the middle of the road, turned the ignition off and attempted to start it two or three more times, nothing!!! it's like there was no battery installed. Every time this happens I lose steering, the brakes seem to fade but I am able to stop on the slow turns like into the parking lot. In all instances the vehicle was moving. One time I noticed an increase in the a/c speed within the cab and the 'service stabilitrac' illuminated but as soon as I turned about half way into a parking area, it died, but continued to pick back up on the engine running. The local dealer had also perfomed some service bulletin regarding the campaign for 'loss of steering assist' at 19,340 miles. The vehicle currently has 42,000 miles. . . . . The date "when did this happen" was today 7/16/2019 but the other times were various before this date.
Experienced loss of steering and traction at low rpm after being stopped resulting in a near collision with a cement divider. Steering and traction control did return after a brief moment. This was the first episode of this happening with this truck.
When warm voltage drops, warning lights go off such as stability & trailer brake. Lost steering & drove into my yard. Have had it looked at four times with no resolution. They can not find anything wrong.
After 1 hour of driving and stopping at a intersection truck decided to shut down at the intersection causing me to almost be involved in a accident since I was dead in the middle of intersection without warning or reason I had just accelerated through light when truck shut down.
My 2014 chevy silverado suffers from the same loss of power steering issue gm just issued a recall for in sept. Of 2018 for the 2015 model of the silverado. When attempting to park or performing low speed turns the power steering with fail making it incredibly difficult to safely control the vehicle. When on the highway using cruise control, the cruise control had failed without warning and the steering locks up for a moment when this happens. This is a serious safety issue affecting more vehicles than just the 2015 models, and the recall should be expanded to include all affected year models. This issue happens intermittently without warning, and occurs multiple times a week. I purchased this vehicle in Dec of 2017, and the issue has been present since my ownership.
Loss of steering; steering wheel locking up and jerking out of my hands while making a turn. Headlights ac and radio cutting off. Multiple warnings including stabilitrac and power steering assist. Engine failure. This happens at low speeds and turning. I took it to the dealer ship today and they said that it fried my battery and cables and fuse but theydont know the reason why this is happening. This is almost $700 out of pocket with no garuntee problem solved. My truck has 32,000 miles 2014 chevy silverado lt 1500. When pulling into the dealership this morning, everything listed above happened and thankfully it reciprocated when the mechanic tested it. It threw off ten different codes .
Approx. 1 week ago while driving on a city street, stabilitrak error pops up on screen and power steering goes out while attempting to park. A few days later while driving on highway with cruise control on and engaged, stabilitrak error displays again. Initiated my turn signal to signal lane change which disengaged the cruise control. A couple of days later, while driving on the highway with cruise control on but not engaged, the cruise control engaged on it's own causing the engine to rev as an attempt was made to slow the vehicle. Dealership says it might be negative battery cable assembly and fuse block and said it would cost me $768 but there is no guarantee it will fix the problem and is likely just the starting point. Had the recall done back in August of 2018 for the loss of power steering (where they simply erased the software and loaded new software) so the dealership takes no responsibility for the issue.
I purchased this truck used 3 mo ago, from a dealer with ~101,000 mi on it. In the past several weeks I have had multiple electrical problems, affecting multiple systems. Initially, the problems involved the stabilitrack and power steering dash warnings alarming, with a slight change in responsiveness of the steering. It has progressed to complete loss of electrical power (dash, ac, radio, everything goes out, loss of power assisted steerin, and 2/3 times with the vehicle requiring being restarted manually (engine had also shut down). Typically after the electrical flicker either the stabilitrack, the power steering or both messages with alarm. This has generally happened when approaching a stop, somewhere between 20 mph and 5 mph, but it next originates after the vehicle has stopped. 2 of the 3 times also included stopping with a gentle turn, as approaching a stop, from which I would then turn. One of the electrical flickers occurred on the freeway while in heavy traffic. I have been unable to capture a picture as this is occurring while driving, and the warning indicator turns off after 3-5 seconds.
While driving vehicle turns off by itself, locking steering wheel and everything going blank. After a minute or so vehicle will turn back on.
Vehicle has several electrical issues. First, power steering fails at low speed turns. Then, the car occasionally loses all electrical power (screens, gauges, lights, starter, garage door opener) while parked and off. Then last week, it lost all electrical power at 70+ mph on the highway. Lost power steering, all screens turned off, gauges when to zero, etc. This lasted for about 3 seconds and then everything came back on. Many warning lights including power steering, traction control, parking assist disabled. This also gave a 4wd service warning. Now, I get the service 4wd warning every time I start the vehicle and it will not go into 4 wd.
Cruise control will shut off when using turning signal or rolling up windows. It is very dangerous in busy interstate traffic. Service stabli track and steering assist reduced will come up on display. Power steering is intermittent when turning. Headlights flicker when turning signals are used. Truck will completely shut down for a split second while driving then everything comes back on, complete loss of control when this happens. When knob for headlights is turned from auto to on position the dash and instrument panel gets dim and stabli track and reduced steering assist message comes on. Rear passenger door will not lock using fob, sometimes I will have to hit the unlock button multiple times before door will unlock after lock has been manually pushed down. Passenger seat belt ding is also intermittent, sometimes it will not work at all. My truck just now started having all of these issues at the exact same time. We drove from texas to kentucky and back to texas and these issues all started during this trip. It is not safe for my family, I have always bought Chevrolet and currently own this truck and a tahoe but they may be my last. All bulbs are good, all fuses and relays are good. Truck now has 66000 miles on it. Battery was replaced around 59000 miles. Seems to be a wiring or ecm (computer) issue to me. I see many complaints similar to mine but yet no recalls have been issued for my VIN number.
When driving truck and turning the steering gets hard and takes a few seconds to control it again. Also when I turn left or right driving slow the power steering gets hard and causes stereo screen to turn off for a few seconds, and causes headlights to dim. Also the interior lights and dash lights dim. It's very unsafe when turning, can almost lose complete control for steering jerking. Not only does this happen when vehicle is in motion but also when truck is stationary.
Stabilitrak light kicks on and off, steering wheel locks up and shudders when turning at low speeds, headlights and dashlights blink like the trucks about to lose power. Searching online it looks like there is a device bulletin that fixes these issues, but I shouldnt have to pay for a safety and common issue with this truck. Pit5405a is the bulletin number.
The powers steering goes out when pulling into a parking space . The car has completely turned off while waiting to make a left turn , seems to be effected by turning the blinkers on ? , it's like there is a complete glitch in the electrical system ? the electric dash comes on and off & yesterday the truck would not start . . . . I tried it multiple times and finial after 15 minutes it turned over and no more issues yesterday .
Headlights flicker, radio head unit flickers, error messages (service stablitrak, traction control off, reduced steering assist) doors occasionally will lock and unlock and then truck will shut off all together. Steering wheel randomly jerk out of your hands. Somebody will end up dead if this issue is not fixed, and recalled. Very common through my research in 2014 silverados/sierra's.
: the power steering system temporarily fail without warning during operation, causing the amount of effort needed to turn the wheel to fluctuate dramatically during the maneuver as the power steering system cycles on and off. The issue is especially prevalent during low-speed maneuvers and can be accompanied by the failure of other systems such as the radio, stability control, door-lock cycling, air condition or cruise control. This happens randomly, when I'm parking or making a turn. I almost crashed into a vehicle in mid turn as I lost power steering and the vehicle shut off. I put it in park and restarted the truck.
The power steering message claiming the the traction was unstable, assistance required. Then when truck was in motion and was maki g a turn the truck lost all power. This has happened 3 times.
Takata recall - 2014 chevy silverado ltz about 6 months ago now, I have been having this problem and now I have had enough! when turning on a low speed the steering wheel locks and seems to bounce back. I don't know what causes this. It use to happen maybe 1-2 times every month while parking in my drive way. Use to be always in my driveway only. And now that thanksgiving passed and I was doing some shopping with my kids; from 11/22/18-now 11/25/18, it has locked on me about 15 times! once turning left on a green light on a busy city street, it locked and wouldn't turn was going straight with my kids inside and my wife driving! another time parking at store parking lots with cars in front and behind me! and just now 7:26 p. M. It locked 5 times while parking! I took it to get it checked out back in August I believe and all they told me was nothing is wrong. I can not keep driving this or having my wife drive my kids and risk loosing them! you need to fix this now! please! I believe there is a recall going arround; I believe the recall number is 17v414000 a lot of what it says sounds exactly what happens to my truck.
