When I attempt to speed up or slow down my truck hesitates, and it's followed by a significant shake, like a shudder, and sometimes it just jerks, or clunks, like it's doing a very “hard shift” when the automatic transmission changes the gears. Sometimes it shifts so violently, I feel like I got hit by another vehicle. I've also tried to accelerate into traffic, and the truck hesitate and then abruptly and violently jerks into gear. It creates a big traffic safety issue! other times the transmission shifts gears so hard that it slams the truck forward, and makes feels like I've been rear-ended.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle made abnormal noises. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 183,000.
I bought this truck in sept 2017 and have had this intermittent problem from the beginning. The first time I noticed the electrical issue was while travelling on the interstate with the cruise control on. When I would use my turn signal to signal a lane change or press the power window switch, the cruise control would go off. This has been reported to the dealer and another repair shop and they were unable to replicate the problem. This electrical issue has evolved over the years to create a significant safety issue. Occasional while driving at slow speed (I have not had this problem occur at highway speed, thankfully) the warning bell and signals would start dinging and flashing error messages. The errors would advise about stabltrak control and power steering assist. The dash lights would flash and the display screen would go blank. Occasionally the truck would die completely. I lost steering control while turning onto my road and almost went into a ditch. Luckily I was going slow (10 - 15 mph) and I was able to stop in time. The truck always restarts once I put it in park and turn the ignition. I took the truck to the dealer and they charged my over $900 to "found low voltage and high resistance from the negative battery cable and replaced it". This did not fix the problem. I have a video of this actually happening and will gladly send it to you. It is a . Mp4 file.
The toque converter is bad and is ruining the transmission. Gm is aware of this issue and will be repairing fleet vehicles at no charge. I have a problem with this discrepancy in their policy when they are aware of this problem yet only cover the repair if your a fleet owner.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at slow speeds or making a turn, the electronic stabili-trak warning light was flashing and the steering wheel seized. The contact restarted the vehicle and steering functionality returned. Additionally, while his wife was driving and approaching a stop, the vehicle inadvertently shifted into neutral(n). While depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to move. The contact stated that the brake pedal was released, and the vehicle started rolling away. The contact restarted the vehicle and the vehicle worked as designed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to duplicate the failure. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated the failure was related to NHTSA campaign number: 14v246000 (steering) and 14v374000 (power train). The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
My truck loss of electric power steering it shuts off especially during low speed turning maneuvers. Lost and then returns then might lose temporary control of the steering wheel, increasing the risk of a crash. I have made an appointment at my dealership .
Friday November 26th after having hit a deer, my truck quit entirely. Transmission would shudder, and rattle, then not engage, causing engine to die during several attempts. I had to have the truck towed 3 times just to get it to where I could have the issue diagnosed. Gateway transmission quoted $4200 minimum on repairs including torque convertor, drive shaft (replace w steel not orig. Alum). The repairs are completed, which now totaled $ 6,374. 84 paid out of pocket. I have been without a vehicle for 60 days. The transmission coolant lines also had to be replaced. No gm notification has been received. Multiple complaints found re same issue. I am deaf phone included is a voice contact family member.
I purchased vehicle new 12/2013 and have had the vehicle to chevy dealer after purchase due to hard downshifts and banging in transmission on shifting. Dealer claimed condition was a normal condition and would do nothing to remedy. This shifting condition stayed the same until the following event. 10/19/2021 driving northbound on i75 in michigan at 75mph vehicle starts jerking and banging and starts losing speed. Tachometer is bouncing up and down between 1800-2300 rpm, transmission temp was 270 degrees. Vehicle is having transmission failure. I put transmission in manual mode and used 4th gear at 45 mph to limp into my destination. It was pitch dark, raining and very hard to see and I was concerned of being rear ended if I pulled off the side of the road and waited for a wrecker. The next day I drove the vehicle to a transmission shop, again using m4 to limp in as my brother in law followed behind with his emergency flashers on to alert others of a slow moving vehicle. The independent transmission shop inspected my vehicle and determined the torque converter failed and contaiminated the transmission, lines and cooler with metal shavings. They also commented they see several of these vehicles for the same problem, it's common issue they said. Mileage at failure was 124780. They rebuilt the transmission, replaced the torque converter and flushed the lines and cooler at a cost of 2755. 00. Gm should be held responsible to reimburse owners of these vehicles as they knew of these transmission issues and placed the occupants of vehicle at risk of injury or death if this issue caused a collision. I have attached documented complaint at gm when vehicle was new of clunking and banging in transmission and their answer was its a normal condition.
The code service 4wd come up and it locks the 4wd up can’t be driving took to shop put on computer and 200 miles later did it again.
Problem first started about 6 weeks ago. Slowing down making a turn my truck would shut down without any warning. Once turning left in a four lane highway. Once turning into mc donalds jumping curb and several other times. Took into dealership for a recall told them about problem. They put analizer on it showing nothing. It has shut down several times since and a light on my truck finanally came on saying it was the trucks thief deterrent system. I will be taking this into my dealership again this morning but feel you should be aware of this problem as all control of truck was loss when turning into oncoming traffic.
Vehicle will shut off while driving at low speeds. Also power steering will come on and off during turns. Happens often. Then a messege pops up on dash to lower than put up drive side window. This happens without any warning.
My truck has a vibration in it and no dealership knows why.
1) transmission when out while driving at 55 ml per hour, truck only had 107,000 miles had to replace transmission more like a rebuild transmission from the dealer. 2) my air conditioner when out 9 months later after replacing transmission, there was a leak on the a/c condenser, dealer replace the condenser two years later air conditioner when out a gain with the same problem a/c condenser leaking the condenser that dealer replace. This's not coment and I think gm needs step in to the plate and looked in to this transmission issues and air conditioner condenser leaking refrigeran.
When I take low speed turns, either going forward or backwards, the power steering starts going in and out and the radio will turn off. Sometime the whole vehicle will shut off or just turn off then right back on. The stability track messege pops up on the dash. When this happens my vehicle will reset itself.
At 72k miles the torgue converter on my 2014 Chevrolet silverado ltz required replacement at an out of the pocket expense of $4486. The auto repair garage where I had the work done reported they have seen multiple vehicles with this transmission coming in lately with around the same mileage (72k) having this issue. I drive mostly around town (not much highway), heard a grinding sound and caught it early before losing any gears. Unfortunately, some vehicles have actually lost gears. Sounds dangerous.
With any kind of acceleration above 30 mph, there is a vibration under the driver side floor board and seat and the vehicle is "searching" for the correct rpm within a 200 rpm range. When in a parking lot with 4x4 hi engaged, the front hubs will bind with the steering wheel turned over half way right or left, making tight turns difficult to complete. I will be taking this to a dealership to hopefully get diagnosed and repaired. Mileage is 114k.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The contact stated that the engine was consuming 2-quarts of engine oil every 2 weeks. Additionally, while the vehicle was turned on, the contact smelled an abnormal odor. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 14v152000 (power train). The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
Transmission pump all of sudden rent out driving down highway.
Truck began to idle rough and would jerk during taking off and stopping. Check engine light began flashing and stabilitrak light came on. Took it to a mechanic who reported fuel buildup. I was told that the pistons were broken as well. My truck has 88,000 miles on it and gm refuses to fix it even though there are service bulletins pertaining to the engine misfire from fuel buildup because the truck is greater than 5 years old.
My 2014 chevy Silverado 1500 has 55,000 miles and the cam shaft and lifters broke. The vehicle broke down on the highway after driving 50 miles.
Code p06dd came on while driving home from work 10 miles away. We reset and truck was driving fine. On 10 degree day, truck displayed low oil pressure shut off vehicle while driving one mile away from work. Checked oil and topped off, tried to start vehicle, heard a noise and truck started ticking noise. Replaced spark plugs and oil pressure switch and still ticking. Forums stated it could be that or the oil pump. Looking at putting in a new oil pump but wondering if this is part of the previous recall.
The transmission began shifting oddly and more sudden than normal and was not getting enough power unless the accelerator was pressed really hard. While my car was under warranty (<60,000 miles), the dealership, lafferty chevy, indicated the shifting was a result of an adaptive transmission that learns my driving habits and it was normal. Now, the problem is worse 6 months later, and the car is out of power-train warranty (65k miles), and they inspected it further and have told me the transmission needs to be fully replaced. The transmission and power train made it very safe to drive these past few months and gm knows this is an issue and the dealer said nothing about this until the problem got much worse and is now out of warranty.
Rear-end has to be rebuild. Making whining noise for about a year. Dealer says it is common with vehicle. Why is Chevrolet allowing this.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle shuddered. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where unknown repairs were performed on the transmission; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that while driving at 85 mph, the transmission downshifted, and the engine made an abnormal sound. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who performed unknown repairs; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who replaced the torque converter. After driving the vehicle approximately 2,000 miles, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, who replaced the torque converter again. The torque converter was replaced four times; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to the NHTSA campaign number: 14v374000 (power train). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
My transmission went out. I was driving down the highway and I could feel it slipping. I managed do make it to my street and it locked up and skidded to a halt as if was thrown into park even though it was in drive. Revers would not engage nor would drive. The truck would roll in neutral. The truck is only a 2014 and has 130000 miles. Most hwy miles. It is currently in shop javing transmission rebuilt. This event happened yesterday morning July 15th 2019.

Takata recall the vehicle I had for about maybe 6 months while driving on a city street we all of the sudden heard a pop we thought it was a tire so we pulled to the side and seen that oil started leaking from the bottom and smoke came out from the hood and now it will not turn on we believe is the engine that broke by husband looked down and saw there was a piece broken of the motor as seen on the description of recall number 14v152000.
It has a problem shifting from 2nd and third gear.
Radiator failure due to cycling of the thermostat. This is a design problem. It is not just a common parts failure. Gm issued service bulletin, pi1513f in recognition of the failures seen in 2014, 2015 & 2016 model year vehicles. The extended warranty that gm announced in January of 2019 does nothing for many of the owners of these vehicles.
I started my truck and while in a parked position the dashboard displays a message regarding power-steering has been reduced, please drive with caution. I googled it and notice that my particular model has a known issue and re-called. I called Chevrolet customer service and they said since my VIN # has no open recalls, they couldn't assist and that I have the option to take it to a service shop and pay out of pocket to fix. It is frustrating that with all the information online I couldn't get any help on this matter.
Vehicle looses power when turning, radio screen flashes on/off, stabilitrak error displays on screen, total loss of power to vehicle while on the road while driving while in motion. This specific VIN# was involved in a recall for the exact issue last year and was repaired but is still functioning as per manufacturer agreement. This vehicle is unsafe to be on the road as is. Took it back to autonation gulf fwy to get a diagnostic they claimed it was the neg batt terminal, I got that fixed still having the same issue. Gm nor chevy want to help with this issue. I guess they are waiting for someone to die before they take this issue seriously . I don't see paying for all the repairs out of pocket if I just bought this vehicle Aug 28, 2018 and was never informed that it had been involved in a recall.
While driving vehicle while turn itself off with no explanation. This has happened multiple times in the last few months. It has increased since I got the last recall done. This is extremely dangerous as it has shut off while I was turning across lanes and died in the middle of the intersection. The truck shuts completely off and has to be restated by turning the key.
There are 2 conscerns I have there is a vibration so bad it will spilll a coffee in the cup holders when I am on the highway at cruising speed and passing speed up to 80 mph and my second issue will happen during city driving where I will step on the gas and the truck lunges forward making me hit the brakes so I don't hit another car I have had my tires balanced and had the truck in the shop multiple times and got different tires to try and fix the vibration and nothing worked and I've thad the truck at the dealership for the transmission issue but they said it's normal.
Incident occurred on may 27th, 2018. At 65 mph (interstate) going on a downhill grade of approximately 6%, towing an approximate 2500 lb trailer with wet roads to slow the truck down applied brakes lightly, the transmission upshifted (higher rpm), applied brakes again, upshifted again, did a third time, upshifted again (now at 4000 rpm). Had to tap the gas to get the truck to downshift. Transmission was set in drive, not manual mode. This is a repeatable condition; it does not matter if trailer mode on the transmission is selected or not. Less downgrades (approximately 3% or less) do not seem to cause the issue. Transmission programming seems to have an error. This is highly undesirable and could lead easily to an accident.
