general problems of the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 - part 1

In michigan- stopped for lunch - used remote start as always when it’s cold. Came out and got back on the road and about ten minutes later a loud bang and the back window shattered. A quick google said it’s a known problem on this model with the power sliding window due to the rear defrost and there’s a recall for canada and 10 us states but illinois isn’t covered. Hard to understand when it’s the same part number. Gm customer service rep also stated they won’t cover it when we called the corporate office. If we’d been alerted we would’ve disabled the rear defrost long ago. Frightening to know it’s a fire hazard and what if we’d had children in the back.

Vehicle stabilitrak light comes on and engine dies. Headlights flicker and completely cut off at night. When starting vehicle the dash says to roll the driver window down and then up to continue. Tonight August 12th 2025, the air quit completely and headlights cut off. Engine dies while in gear. When I put truck in reverse engine will die. Sometimes turning the wheel will cause the engine to cut off or lights to go out. I have taken to the dealership multiple times for this issue and it has yet to be resolved. This has been going on for around 7-8 months. I bought the truck in December and it’s been in the shop 4 times now.

Few time the truck shut off on me while pulling into parking lot and take to mecanic they dont find the problem the las insident hapen 6/5/2025.

No accidents, I just recently found out my vehicle is on recall.

I remote started my vehicle about 5 minutes prior to getting in. After I got in and placed the key in the ignition, I started to smell smoke. I see in my rear view mirror the entire cab of my truck started to fill with smoke. When I turned my head around the interior of my rear window was on fire and my entire truck cab filled with smoke. I get out of the vehicle and immediately try and look for help as the fire was inside of my vehicle and the smoke smell was overwhelming. The fire then died out and the driver’s side pane on the rear window then shattered. I am now left with a shattered window and a vehicle that is left with unknown damage from a fire inside the pane. After going back and forth with a dealer that contacted chevy for me, they determined there was no recall for the vehicle. Further research showed that this incident happened one other time in March of 2020 and was repaired once and the original recall was cleared. Chevy states that they have already repaired it once and are not liable to fix it a second time. This is a huge safety hazard and I am left questioning the integrity of my vehicle and the safety after what unknown damage has been done.

My radio changes channels on its own. It disconnects my bluetooth connection for no reason. The display screen changes from one option to another randomly. This has been happening for over a year now. My research on the internet shows many customers had their radios replaced. Soon thereafter the issue starts all over again.

Used the remote start feature to warm up my truck (automatically turns on rear defrost). Upon entering the vehicle I could smell smoke. While driving I turned around and noticed smoke pouring from rear window. I turned off the rear defrost and the window exploded! I contacted the dealer and they claimed the recall had already been completed and they could not assist me.

While going through an s curve the dash lights went dark and engine quit while pulling a trailer. Had no power steering or brakes. Put it in neutral and was able to get engine started again before hitting a car coming from the other direction. On initial start up, there was a message "action required, open then close driver window". All dash settings for radio, information and media had to be reset. This is dangerous, vehicle shutting down randomly, as it could cause accident and injury or even death.

While driving on the highway, I came to stop in traffic. Power shut off in truck. I had ac on and radio on and everything turned off. Dashboard went blank as well. Power restored and service stabiltrack notification came on. This happened multiple times while on road. Got off as soon as possible and took to dealership. Dealership has yet to get back to us. I believe this is related to the two recalls that I had completed. At no point should I lose power in the vehicle and not be able to control the car. This could have been a tragedy if driving at full speed and for vehicle to shut down.

“service trailer brake system” this message randomly appears with no trailer connected at all, I recently bought a brand new trailer and im scared to tow it since there is no current fix for this error message on the display, it comes on randomly and will not stop popping up and dinging it is a huge distraction as it repeatedly does it over and over, also when it does this you lose trailer brakes which is very unsafe especially in the mountains. This has been a known issue for years that is why I don’t understand why there is only a fix for the 22-23 models. Gm needs to address this issue as there are tons and tons of complaints, it is never safe to lose trailer brakes especially with all that weight you could burn up the truck brakes and cause an accident or if the trailer starts swaying you can not correct it with the breaks.

A 2015 Chevrolet silverado seemed to be running rougher after an oil change. When inspected by dealership, litha Chevrolet located 200 east cypress Ave in redding CA, they identified lower end knocking and lifter ticking noise. Also identified was po300 was randomly missing and po324 knock sensor performance. The dealership recommended total engine replacement, after reviewing the report. The 2015 silverado is currently out of commission. It is not roadway safe. The silverado has been serviced regularly as recommended and has not been in any collisions in the past. The truck has had one owner previously, my father, who left me the truck when he perished. I relied on the truck for daily and extended transportation for myself and my children. I have maintained excellent care of the 2015 silverado with regular maintenance and services. There is no explanation of this issue other than it was caused by faulty equipment from the manufacturer. Recently purchased a 2015 chevy. The truck in is excellent condition , garage kept. Problem is the horn. It stops working after it rains, or after we wash . We have almost had several wrecks due to the horn not working. The water runs down the seam of the hood and drips in the switch. That in return keeps the horn from working. I feel unsafe in the vehicle. At anytime people pull out in front of us or anything from around us. We have no way to warn nor get their attention. Transmission is not shifting properly, shakes whole truck, steering wheel. Gm has many open recalls for the same issue in the same vehicles that has my transmission in them.

I was about 1. 5 miles from my house with the rear defrost on, when I heard a pop. I then noticed the driver side rear window was shattered. Not the middle or passenger side, just the driver side. I did a ton of research and noticed that 2014 through 2019 canadian Chevrolet silverado’s have been recalled but none in the us.

Service trailer brake system constantly turns on. I have never used the trailer system, my concern is that while driving it will light up and causing an accident because I might take my eyes off the road. What I also notice is radio (usb) stop working and motor takes time to start.

Trailer brake system I have owned this chevy silverado 2015 since 2018 when I purchased it certified from a used car dealership in upstate new york. About one year into owning the vehicle I started to experience an alarm that was flash trailer brake system. This alarm would beep and flash in my center consul restricting me from sight distracting me from driving and is almost impossible to drive the car without distraction. I checked youtube I called the manufacture I did so much to figure out what was going on and why this was happening considering I do not show any thing I did not understand why the trailer brake would cause such a problem considering I never told anything. After about three months of driving the car this trailer brake system alarm stopped. Now recently 2022 the trailer break system alarm is back and flashes nonstop and is relentless. I cannot listen to music I cannot hear my own self think the alarm is so loud and so distracting I would rather walk to the store then drive the truck I am forced to drive this truck because of the fact that I need to get to work but the safety hazards that are now limiting me and I am afraid this is going to cause a major accident or loss of life. I recently discovered that this is a manufacturers wire harness malfunction due to faulty wiring and a low-grade wire harness system. Before this gets any worse I need some sort of help. Knowing that it is impossible to fix without thousands of dollars being spent and finding a specific electrical auto technician to fix it it is nearly impossible to have this fixed chevy refuses to even acknowledge there is a problem I need someone to please help me and the other chevy silverado owners to get this under recall so that these wire harnesses can be replaced please help us my name is kevin nugent my address 174 jefferson Ave. , emerson, NJ 07630 201-615-1659 is my cell phone number.

This is a 2015 chevy silverado, I continuously get a message reading "service: trailer brake system". This error message would continuously chime every 5 seconds, no matter if I cleared the message with the check button on the steering wheel or left it on. This chime would override the radio, phone calls, turn signal chime and any other noises put out by the vehicle in addition to covering the digital speedometer readout. I have yet to take it to a dealership as today was the first repetitive issue lasting over 30 minutes. I first noticed this at random over the last 2 months, but these messages would stop after 2-5 minutes worth of chimes. I plan to take this to a dealer for inspection, but wanted to check for recalls/ report the issue before doing so.

The truck just shut down for no reason,then can not turn it or can not use the brakes to stop it,then will not start,then it will start in time.

2015 chevy Silverado 1500 lt/ltz double cab 5. 3 liter v8. Electrical short to power in underhood fuse block part number 84303175. Passenger side brake/tail light stay on constantly even when vehicle is shut off and key is out of ignition. Driver side brake/tail light works fine, customer had to disconnect harness to prevent battery from going dead. Hare Chevrolet dealership, noblesville indiana, found short to power in under hood fuse block. Invoice: 340227 part: 84303175 customer pay 674. 17 replacement of under hood fuse block. * major safety concern *.

Unknown issue. For this vehicle at speeds in excess of 60 mph the truck begins to shake. The shaking increases in violence as speed increases. This issue can be replicated without fault by a dealership or other auto-shop whenever necessary. The issue has not been specifically looked at by a dealership. There are currently no warning lights or indications. Mileage when started is 10400 +/- 50 mi.

Service trailer park system.

I own a 2015 chevy silverado ld. There was a recall that included (among other vehicles) the 2014 silverado ld and the 2015 silverado hd but not the 2015 ld. It is for the base radio audio output not working causing audible safety warnings to not work as well. I have this problem on my truck. I took the truck to a local dealership but they claimed to have no knowledge of this faulty condition.

Side rail airbag deployed knock me out and total my vehicle.

Upper right hand corner of display screen can be unresponsive or, more frequently, select items on its own. It will select different radio stations, rearrange apps, and call or put calls on hold. Steering wheel display changes to radio tab on its own. This puts my safety at risk because I have to fight with the radio to keep it on a single station and take my eyes off the road to constantly take phone calls off hold. Problem occurred in presence of dealer mechanic and I have videos of the problem. I have taken this to the dealer and they were unable to solve the problem. No warning lamps to indicate anything wrong or preceded the incident. The problem began in July 2021.

A/c condenser gave out causing window to fog/ same issue with all gm / tahoe / suburban / escalade . Life safety issue visibility compromised I have a 2015 chevy silverado with only 30k on it. This should be a mandatory recall.

Ac blows out warm was told the evaporator leaks from the factory.

Activated remote start on vehicle. As I got into vehicle, my passenger noticed a burning smell and then saw thick smoke coming from rear window. I turned off the rear defroster and the smoke started to dissipate. My rear window then shattered. Gm recalled 159,000 vehicles in canada due to what seems like the same issue with rear defrosters. My truck was purchased in the united states.

Loss of brakes when driving slow.

First off the truck my father and I purchased was a brand new lt 1500 model with v6 engine and 4 wheel drive from bill defouw Chevrolet lafayette, in in 2020 I contacted the sheriff's department because the vehicle we had purchased had been stolen and switched out with another truck that had a non matching stamped VIN on the frame underneath and nothing else matched with photos of proof did not match either. I gave the photos to the authorities to observe and they handed them back to me and laughed at me. The truck that was left with me that the thieves tried to make me believe was my truck was a salvage flood vehicle with the strong smell of mold and mildew and tires that didn't match and other areas on the truck that did not match our brand new truck we purchased that had never been altered except for adding a bed liner. I have tons of photos showing the unmatched stamped VIN and photos throughout the years of ownership that I've been trying to get help with before someone gets hurt. When they wouldn't help me and continuously told me it was my truck in my possession even though I showed the proof I literally was brainwashed into believing what they were saying and I traded the truck in. When I finally realized that my gut instinct and proof was enough I contacted the dealership and took photos in where we purchased the truck to show them the differences and they agreed with me and told me to contact the police again. So I did and got the same results. Therefore there are two trucks out there possibly more that have been VIN swapped and vehicle swapped from victims driveways, or work, or garage etc. I can submit my photos of proof immediately. They got my other vehicles too including my motorcycle I never got to ride because I noticed it a couple days after purchase. This crime is heavy and victims don't even know it's happened due to cloning.

Having grounding issues with vehicle. Whole dash goes blank. Has stalled on highway several times. Have taken it to the dealer they stated that I had to pay $800 and to install it it cost me $1100 and then $256 to go underneath the dash and tighten a bolt I have research this on youtube and it looks as though from the 2014 to 2020 it's an issue to all trucks. Just purchased this and may 2020. On dashboard the alternator indicator shows below 14 volts. And during one of the stollings on the highway and the whole family in the vehicle scared to death. I think this is a great issue that needs to be recalled that I shouldn't have to fix less than six months after purchasing a vehicle. This all happened in the st. Louis area.

Breaking at low speed in traffic or a parking lot the breaks grab, skip and the truck vibrates before coming to a stop. Returned truck to glendora Chevrolet where purchased. They performed recall n192268490, updated ebcm, wcc:28yn28468172 per receipt they gave me. Vacuum pump was replaced. All this did not correct the break problem to this day. Please advise.

This picture represents some of the paint loss on the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 crew cab. I bought this vehicle brand new and have never been in the snow. There's no way that a vehicle should have paint peeling or have exposed metal.

Special coverage adjustment bulletin 17336 for ac condenser. Condenser leaks and breaks. Replacement required but replacement equipment sub par and also pron for failure. Chevrolet will not cover cost of replacement of condenser stating that the vehicle with 85,000 miles is not covered. This is a nation wide issue. This vehicle has had a total of 15 recalls on it. I am requesting assistance with the cost of the repair. Due to my allergies and this time of the year driving with the windows down and no ac is affecting my physically. The customer care center for chevorlet is giving me the run around and have been avoiding my claim since 3/03/2020. Today is 3/11/2020. Thus far they have offered to cover only $215 of $879+tax repair that they are aware of is a nation wide issue. Please help.
