Warning alarm goes off and power steering goes out happens with vechile in motion.
As I was backing out of my driveway the truck suddenly shut off and the steering wheel jerked hard out of my hand. The screens all went blank. I was halfway onto the road when this happened and luckily the oncoming traffic was able to stop in time. I restarted the car and it did it again. It took three times to get the car going. I immediately called the dealer to take it in for service. On the way to the dealer it happened again and prior to the screen just blacked out only then the ac blower fan surged on and off. The vehicle again shut off as I was turning from dual highway to the dealer and the steering wheel jerked out of my hands and the brakes locked. Also when I backed out that morning the rear felt like their was some slippage. I bought my 2016 silverado used in 2018 with 24k miles on it. The odometer just turned 50k two days ago, so this vehicle has not been driven hard and has always had proper service. I began researching and there are thousands of the same complaint online so I thought there must be a recall. However, the dealer tells me that there is only a "bulletin" and that since I am out of warranty I have to pay for the known repairs needed to fix this issue that clearly gm is aware of. Repairs are over 1300 dollars! I can not believe that gm knows about such a dangerous problem and will not fix it for owners. How many injuries and deaths must occur before a bulletin warrants becoming a recall? I also noted that the previous owner, right before I bought the vehicle according the the car fax took the vehicle for service due to electrical problems. So this was known by gm and dealer when I bought the truck. Deceitful. I have a family that relies on this vehicle for transportation and now I can't afford to fix it or trade it and it is not safe to drive. Help!.
Power steering lost temporarily, lights went on and off fast and vehicle dash went black and truck died while turning causing me to hit a car. Moving about 5 to 10 mph.
Steering will get very hard to turn for a second on low speed turns, stabilitrak will disable and dash will blank out.
While setting in a drive thru my steering wheel will jerk back and fourth and then my truck will die. I get several different messages on my dash stability track needs service, window needs rolled down then up, or trailer assist. This has happened multiple times.
Service power steering came on, car was completely unable to control with zero steering assist. Extremely dangerous almost hit multiple cars turning at low speed. Dealership claims the code c056d but is taking zero responsibility charging outrageous prices for an electrical unit that has failed in less than 70,000 miles.
My 2016 silverado steering wheel locks up and all of the power in my vehicle shuts off. It only happens when I'm turning but I cannot move the wheel in any direction. This problem is very dangerous and could lead to injury or death. I was almost involved in a head collision this morning because of it. Not to mention that not one Chevrolet mechanic or auto dealer knows what I'm talking about or even acts like they care. This problem has been well documented in older model silverado's and 2016 silverados should be included. It's only a matter of time before someone is killed because of this problem and now their is documentation.
1st I notice my info screen would black out and come back on then a service camera message would come on once in awhile. Now every once in awhile the stabilatrak will come on my screen and the steering wheel will jerk violently out of my hand. Very dangerous. Up to this point it has been at slow speeds. . . (under 30 mph).
I will drive down the road and the display goes black on dash and I hear clicking sound and truck shuts off. Steering wheel has locked up making turns, left or right. Issues mostly happen when driving extended period of times but has cut off with short trips and parking, backing in. These issues started around Dec 2019 and increased in frequency this year 2020.
Erratic steering and slow speed?s jerky car dies ground problem.
Tl the contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While making a left turn at a stop sign, the steering seized without warning while the brake pedal was depressed. The brakes did not engage, causing the contact to sideswipe another vehicle. The contact managed to steer the vehicle onto the shoulder and applied the emergency brake to come to a complete stop. The air bags did not deploy. There were no injuries and a police report was filed. The vehicle was towed by roadside assistance to everett Chevrolet Buick GMC (161 us hwy 70 se, hickory, nc 28602, (828) 393-0876) where it was in the process of being diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The driver's door and front bumper were damaged. The contact's insurance company sent an adjuster to the dealer who deemed the vehicle with needing cosmetic repairs. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 19v761000 (electronic stability control, service brakes, hydraulic, service brakes). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided case number: 9-5719213094. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.
My 2016 Silverado 1500 problems is the along with the loss of power steering, other electrical systems turns off including the radio, driver information center, door-lock cycle, ac and the stability control system. Abs and brake light turn on also hard to turn. Vehicle could be just on or driving around for hours or minutes time doesn't matter it could do it as soon it turn on those problems appear when the stabilitrak light comes on.
Electronic power steering suddenly stopped working. Vehicle is a 2016 Chevrolet truck with 25,852 miles. A very dangerous thing to happen with a male driver. I shudder to think what would have happen if the sudden loss of power steering had happened to my wife on a curvy road. Gm has recalled 1 million plus 14-15 gm vehicles over this problem. They say the 2016 is not in the recall. The $1,500 plus dollar cost is on me. Why is gm being allowed to continue selling vehicles with electronic steering?.
Tl- the contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet silverado. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel jerked out of the contacts hand with the service stabilatrac warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for a diagnostic test or repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000. Dr.
The truck will yank the steering wheel back and forth, multiple electrical errors will occur and the engine sometimes dies while the truck is moving at slow speeds and turning. A stabilitrack error shows on the dash. This happens almost daily. This truck is accident free and appears in excellent condition.
Car stalls and restarts when driving and turning. Car won't turn or go. Have almost wrecked multiple times. Says something about stabilitrak.
My battery failed at 53,000 miles, and after changing the battery the electronic power steering would not work. I've also noticed electrical issues with the display panel, and the stereo changing channels. I've taken the car to the dealership in roseville, CA. And await details on repair.
While turning onto a road, I turned the steering wheel approximately 20% and suddenly the steering wheel kicked back hard nearly breaking my wrist. Once I pulled off I was able to repeat the process several times in either direction, I have video of this issue. When it kicked back, I would lose all electrical power to dash instrumentation and also upon power coming back on, I would get stabilitrak errors and the vehicle and traction controlled would be turned off.
I was driving down my street. Waiting to turn left to wait at stoplight. When going I couldn't turn the steering wheel. Traffic was coming from both sides when failure occurred. The only thing that saved my life was to continue straight through to the other side of the street. This incident could've killed me if was traveling at higher speeds. Total loss of control of the vehicle. This is a major safety issue.
While backing out of a parking spot the steering wheel jerked itself out of my hand, almost breaking my hand and locked up and couldn't be turned at all. While locked up it finally broke free for a bit and jerked itself out of my hands again. Put it into drive to pull forward so I didn't get hit by other vehiclse in parking lot too. It did the same thing going forward, jerked itself from my hands, the radio even changed stations on its own. During this the dic showed a stabilitrak needs service message and worked ok once I finally got it to back out and go forward and as long as the vehicle wasn't shut off it ran ok, abut once shutoff, the same issues returned every time, even at the Chevrolet dealer where it sits now in mission, TX these events occurred while stationary and also while vehicle was in motion which is downright dangerous. . When driving 2016 Silverado 1500, I put on brake and lost power to steering. Dealership said there was no recall. Other time when touching the brake, lights got brighter on touch pad for radio and for over 200 miles while someone was in passenger seat, it said passenger airbag was off. While turning and applying brake, loose all steering. It happens while driving. Not sitting still. First time it happened, 8 2as turning in the driveway and lost all power and had to slam on the brakes 2 times to avoid going into the ditch.
My truck starts shaking when I attempt to speed up or slow down, and it hesitates, shudders, and engages in a hard shift when changing gears. My mechanic could not fix it. Has been happening since Dec. 2018. Why is there no recall on this major issue?.
Shaking at highway speeds.
Tl the contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving slow speeds, the steering wheel violently jerked and the vehicle shook and lost power. Also, the electronic stability control indicator illuminated. The "parking assist off" and "roll down the side windows" messages were also displayed. Makiing a turn the steering locked and engine died 2 times and yesterday while diving on the freeway at 70 miles per hour it died and managed to pull off the road. First time we allmost got hit by an other car . Im very, very concern . Truck has 19k miles.
The stabilitrak has been going off at random times, several times in a row. Twice, over the span of two days, the stabilitrak has gone off while in motion, pulling into a parking spot on dry ground. It has also gone off about 4 times back-to-back while at slow speeds on an on ramp. The main display has also been randomly shutting off (screen goes black) without warning or obvious reason.
My truck has a defective electric power steering system that is known to be defected as the same system was recalled for all other models equipped with ut but because my vehicle is a special version the company expects me the customer to pay for this 4 figure repair out of pocket knowing the system is defective the steering just quit out of nowhere for no apparent reason it worked fine then went to drive it and it didn't have power steering it was stationary at the time I got in to go to the store and steering was gone.

I have a 2016 Chevrolet silverado. Once you get to 70-80 miles per hour it shakes pretty bad. I noticed others have experienced same things. They even named it the "chevy shake". I just wanted to file a complaint so it could be added to the list of others.
Ongoing safety issue. . . Vehicle looses power, steering, braking, all other devices inactive, driving safety of occupants and others relevant when driver has no control due to defect. Chevy mechanics believe might be steering system such as ignition and locking elements, due to grinding noise before vehicle looses power and other parts lock up, chevy techs thought might be race and pinion, might be electrical, might be whatever, they are unable to conclusively determine this critical safety defect in truck. Chevy techs have commented they are skeptical about letting anyone drive until resolved. Investment hugh with loss of use and finding other transportation. Why own it. Gm needs to reimburse cost and replace. This is a significant liability. All aspects of non functioning parts don't generate error codes, and this incident has reoccurred over eight times in five days. This requires action by gm, where is it. Loaner vehicle not sufficient replacement for investment. Safety issue commenced on March 16, towed multiple times, been to two dealers, initial more than 200 miles from home, and current dealer where purchased with 25 miles of home.
Purchased truck in February 2017 new had 100 miles on it now has 4435 miles on it now it's been in the dealer 3 times for vibration itso going back for a 4th time for theveryone same issue been to 2 different dealers has had 1 tire replaced on right front and 1 rim replaced on right rear still have vibration issue the the dealer is purchased it at said there's nothing wrong with it took to 2nd dealer they found the issues with it it still has vibration at 55 mph to 70 mph and developed a bad vibration at idle when in park and gm is involved.
