To whom it may concern, below is my support statement regarding recurring safety and reliability issues observed in the vehicle over an extended period: 1. Sensor malfunction and resulting damage the front and rear proximity sensors exhibit repeated failures. During reversing, the system issues false warnings when no obstruction is present. Conversely, while driving forward, the system fails to provide warnings when approaching walls, sidewalks, or other fixed objects. These failures have directly contributed to multiple instances of exterior damage, including impact with hard surfaces, as well as damage to tires and rims. 2. Warning system deficiencies the engine warning system has proven unreliable. Significant oil leaks occurred without any corresponding check engine notification. On separate occasions, the check engine light illuminated briefly before extinguishing without resolution. 3. Diagnostic inconsistencies independent diagnostic inspections identified multiple ecm fault codes. However, upon subsequent service visits, these codes were cleared or dismissed without adequate explanation, creating uncertainty regarding the vehicle’s underlying condition. 4. Excessive repair history despite limited use over the past several years, the vehicle has required multiple costly repairs despite being operated only for routine transportation. It has not been utilized in off-road conditions or to its full 4x4 capacity, yet has demonstrated significant and repeated mechanical deficiencies. The issues experienced indicate systemic failures in critical safety systems, monitoring functions, and diagnostic reliability. These unresolved defects have resulted in repeated safety risks, physical damage, and disproportionate maintenance requirements.

3 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 09/11/2023

The following recalls were found on kelly bluebook, that matched the issues I have been having with my vehicle perfectly. When calling the recall center, they stated my vehicle year 2018 chevy silverado and serial number were not listed for this but it's the exact diagnosis of what I'm experiencing. The unintended activation of the driveline-protection system will cause unintended braking on the wheel on the opposite side of the failed sensor, causing the vehicle to pull to one side unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash. As the vacuum level drops, the brake assists decrease, increasing braking effort, extending the distance required to stop the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of a crash. A decrease in brake assist can increase the brake pedal effort and distance required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? the brakes inflate on their own as if someone is pressing them down while driving. The vehicle begins to jerk horribly causing the inability to steer or maintain control of the vehicle or the ability to stop. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes how was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? this is very dangerous. I have no control over the speed of the vehicle or if the brakes will fail, or if the brakes will burn up due to fighting with the accelerator while driving. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? yes, the manufacturer inspected it and stated they could fix the issues, paid but then the same malfunction kept happening even after payment and supposedly being fixed. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? none related to the issues, stabilitrak warning and then random hill assist to inflate the brake vacuum.

4 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 12/24/2022

The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced unintended braking. Additionally, the steering wheel was shaking while driving. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA hotline. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 19v761000 (service brakes, hydraulic, service brakes, electronic stability control) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.

5 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2021

Trailer brake service warning.

6 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2021

On 10/03/21 at approximately 1251 hours, I was driving my 2018 Chevrolet silverado which is the vehicle with the above mentioned VIN. As I was traveling towards a heavily traveled intersection in my current city, I approached a steady red signal on the traffic light. It should be noted that this particular part of the roadway is a slight decline towards the intersection and traffic control signal. It should also be noted that on this particular day, there were no inclement weather or roadway conditions that would affect the vehicle to deviate from normal maneuvering. As I applied the brakes at a reasonable distance from the stop light, almost all pressure and power towards braking was lost. As a result, I was forced to apply extensive pressure to the brake pedal as the vehicle failed to slow and stop in a timely fashion. After gaining some braking power, the vehicle and brakes began to shake and produce a clunking sound. This was troublesome because had I failed to stop in a timely manner, I or other motorists could have suffered serious injury or death as a result of a crash at a heavily traveled intersection. Prior to this incident, there were no warnings or alerts provided by the vehicle, dealer, or manufacturer about this issue. As the event occurred, an alert flashed on my dashboard that read “service brake assist. ” following the incident, my vehicle was inspected by a certified mechanic. Said mechanic deemed that the problem with the braking was a result of a failure of the brake booster vacuum system. After doing some research, it is apparent that other years, makes, and models of GMC products suffered the same issue with the braking system. Said issues were remediated with a recall by the manufacturer. This defect also caused numerous vehicle crashes with reported injuries.

7 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2021

Abs (trailer braking system) and stabitrak warning lights randomly come on while driving and remain on until vehicle turns off. On multiple occasions the rear wheels have locked and steering becomes difficult even when brakes are not being applied. This has occurred while driving at varying speeds and in varying weather conditions. Vehicle has been checked by dealer on 3 separate occasions for this and service was reported unable once lights have gone off. Said incident has occurred approximately 30-50 times over the past 18months.

8 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 09/26/2020

While driving on 30-40mph and hit the brakes slowly, it feels as if the pedal is gonna fall off and can also feel a vibrate on it. It also stalls as if the brakes are being pressed but I'm not, this happens usually in the beginning after being turned on and then stops doing it after reaching the middle of the temperature.
