The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle unexpectedly hard shifted and the check engine warning light along with the reduced engine power warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with trouble codes p0700, indicating a transmission control module (tcm) failure, and p2717, indicating a pressure control solenoid failure. The contact was informed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for further assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
