1 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2026

The rear park assist will randomly turn itself off. It happens while just driving down the road and also at times when backing up. This has been an ongoing issue since I took the truck in to get the chips installed for it to work.

2 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/29/2026

The micro switch that tells the truck that it is in park is not working. So when the truck is put in park the display says vehicle not in park and dings. This started at only 48,000 miles intermittently but is doing so constantly now at 53,500 miles and I’m having to buy a part to replace it.

3 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2026

Telematics module failure. Causing loss of onstar, self driving feature, compass, navigation.

4 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/27/2026

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, the tailgate unintendedly opened unintentionally while there were items stored in the trunk. Upon coming to a stop at the red light, another driver alerted the contact that the tailgate was open. The contact pulled over to the side of the road, and the tailgate was closed. The vehicle was driven to the residence and was parked and turned off; however, the contact became aware that the tailgate had opened while the vehicle was turned off. The contact disconnected the tailgate switch to prevent the battery from draining. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the tailgate switch had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in gm campaign number: n232426400. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000.

5 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/22/2026

The vehicle experienced a sudden loss of 4wd capability and transmission communication while driving. The dealership diagnosed a defective battery ground cable. Gm has issued customer satisfaction program n252515590 for this exact issue, but they are refusing to cover my specific VIN despite the truck exhibiting the exact failure described. This defect causes the vehicle to lose critical powertrain functions, posing a safety risk on the road.

6 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2026

The tailgate is clicking continuously and dropping at random moments when I’m stationary as well as driving. It is draining the battery and leaving me stranded with zero power or resources for help.

7 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2026

While driving with my trailer my tailgate opened by itself and hit my trailer when backing up. There is a open recall for a faulty switch that may allow the tailgate to open unexpectedly. I called my dealer and said they could only replace the faulty switch and not my damaged tailgate. It was due to the faulty switch that led to my tailgate getting damaged. I believe this switch and my tailgate need to replaced.

8 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/07/2026

Component involved: visibility/backup device, electrical system, forward collision avoidance ?description of incident: the android 12-based infotainment system in this vehicle is suffering from a progressive hardware/software failure that creates a severe, multi-layered safety hazard. ?critical driver distraction: the system has become largely non-responsive, requiring me to repeatedly press on-screen buttons to perform basic functions. This forces me to divert my eyes and manual attention away from the road for periods far exceeding 2 seconds. This "visual-manual distraction" is a direct result of the system's inability to process commands, making safe operation impossible while attempting to use vehicle controls. ?visibility failure (fmvss 111): the failure impacts the digital rearview mirror and the safety camera feeds. These cameras frequently glitch, lag, or freeze, depriving me of necessary rear and surround visibility while moving. This is a violation of federal safety standards for rearview visibility. ?systemic electrical failure: this "slowly dying" system is also interfering with the vehicle's communication bus, causing the power door locks to malfunction. This creates an entrapment or security risk. ?I have reported these issues to general motors/onstar. Despite their awareness of these "electrical gremlins" and the existence of limited service updates (like program #n242435631), no permanent fix has been provided. This is a systemic safety defect that requires a mandatory recall to prevent accidents caused by driver distraction and visibility loss. The system needs updating to android 14. It is android 12 now. This is the fix. Gm want me to pay $250 for a hour for a macanic to update it. Gm was updating over the air, but it was causing the battery on the vehicle's to prematurely die under warranty. It was affecting their bottom line.

9 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2026

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet silverado1500. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle in the driveway, the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was jump-started, and the instrument panel was black. The contact was unable to see the speed, fuel gauge, and other important information. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle with battery failure. The battery was replaced; however, the instrument panel was still black. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The mechanic informed the contact that when the vehicle was started, the battery charge immediately started to drain. The mechanic was contacted and reached out to the manufacturer for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000.

10 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/27/2026

The rear tailgate started opening when I opened my doors and also when driving down the road. I would pull up and tail gate was wide open. I was okay but thankfully nothing in the back came out and hit vehicles behind me. No warning lights and anything. Dealership said it’s a faulty tailgate switch. Which 800,000 vehicles were recalled but not mine. Even though it’s the same year as the recalled vehicles. Gm needs to be held accountable for all of them. This was a problem for 3 weeks. Constant dead batteries, jumping vehicle, closing tailgate and causing lights to go crazy. This is a definite safety concern. Had to wait a week to get into dealership for diagnosis. Than over a week for the parts.

11 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/26/2026

The truck is jumpy during stops. I get a low voltage code but the battery is fine I had it checked out. Reduced acceleration has been activated and after I turn the truck off it is fine. The check engine light comes on and turns off on it's on sometimes same day. I know there is a recall on certain 2022 silverados but they told me this one wasn't on the recall. It did have one for the brake system they said.

12 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/16/2026

Hi, I would like to report an issue with my vehicle. The transmmision has been experiencing problems, and the dashboard radio display has been flickering intermittently.

13 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2026

Am writing to formally request an investigation and potential recall regarding a serious and increasingly reported issue affecting certain Chevrolet trucks. Numerous owners have experienced a malfunction in which the vehicle fails to properly recognize that it has been placed in park. As a result, the truck may remain running and not fully shut off, even after the driver has exited the vehicle. This presents a concerning safety risk not only to the owner but also to others nearby. This issue is not isolated. A growing number of drivers have shared similar experiences across various social media platforms, demonstrating that this may be a widespread defect rather than individual mechanical failures. Many of these reports include videos and firsthand accounts showing trucks remaining on, displaying incorrect gear status, or failing to power down as expected. The consistency of these reports suggests a systemic problem that warrants immediate attention. The safety implications of this defect are significant. A vehicle that does not properly register being in park can increase the risk of unintended movement, potential rollaways, or prolonged engine operation. This could lead to property damage, injury, or worse, especially in residential or high-traffic areas. Additionally, a truck that remains running unattended raises concerns about theft and unnecessary emissions. Given the potential dangers and the volume of public complaints, I respectfully urge the NHTSA to conduct a thorough investigation into this matter. If a defect is confirmed, I strongly encourage the issuance of a recall to ensure that affected vehicles are properly repaired. Thank you for your time and consideration of this important safety concern.

14 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/04/2026

I was driving on the highway and there was a sudden drop in power and hesitation in the engine. I slowed down too quickly on a busy highway and almost got rear ended. I took it to the shop and found out I had to replace the engine due to the cam and lifters were bad. It cost $12,000 to replace a four year engine with 148,000 miles. The time before that this happened, I had to replace the engine wiring harness.

15 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/30/2026

Truck went into limp mode. Would not shift. Stayed in one gear and would not back up. The truck basically downshifted from 8th to 2nd gear, causing me to lock up the brakes and almost lose control. Several warning lights on the dash. It's been at a transmission shop for over 3 weeks. They are having issues being able to get parts from gm. They are having problems fixing it. The blind spot lights will turn on for no reason. The lights opposite of the vehicle comes on. I've almost wrecked multiple times.

16 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/28/2026

While driving my 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 rst, the vehicle has lost power on two to three separate occasions. During these incidents, the truck experienced a sudden loss of engine power and electrical functionality while in motion. The vehicle either significantly reduced power or shut down unexpectedly, creating an immediate safety hazard. The failure appears to involve the electrical system and/or powertrain, as dashboard functions and vehicle response were affected at the same time as the loss of propulsion. In at least one incident, this occurred at driving speed, placing me and other motorists at risk of a collision due to the sudden loss of acceleration and reduced ability to maneuver safely. No prior warning lamps or messages consistently appeared before the failure. The incidents occurred without warning. The problem is intermittent and has happened more than once, increasing concern that the defect may worsen or result in a crash. This issue represents a serious safety risk because loss of power while driving can lead to loss of control, rear-end collisions, or inability to safely move out of traffic. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.

17 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/27/2026

A recurring malfunction occurs with the infotainment/radio and rear backup camera display. The rear backup camera view remains stuck on while driving forward in drive at speeds over 20 mph, including highway speeds. The system also cycles between screens (including switching to the camera view), and the infotainment freezes and becomes unresponsive (loss of screen/control). Audio playback and hands-free calls become staticky/distorted. These events create a serious driver distraction and safety risk while driving. This has occurred multiple times, including during long-distance driving, and has been significant enough that I have had to pull over to the side of the road multiple times. In multiple incidents, the system did not recover until I pulled a fuse to reset/shut down the system so I could continue driving safely. The unit remains powered on after the vehicle is turned off and exited. There is also a history of battery drain/no-start events requiring jump starts. No warning lights or warning messages are displayed before or during the failure; the system becomes unresponsive and behaves unpredictably. The problem is intermittent and has occurred multiple times over the life of the vehicle, including after a head unit replacement. Dealers have documented the concern on repair orders; during the most recent visit the dealer noted no diagnostic trouble codes (dtcs) stored.

18 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/25/2026

The tailgate on the truck popped open without being triggered to. This continued to happen like every 5-10 seconds. It drained the battery and was a hazard as I drive down the road.

19 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2026

Onstar telematics module went out and took away my way to call in a car problems and if stolen wont be able to find and the forward collision don't work my high beam turn on and off by themselves and don't have there wifi or severs without it or emergency button.

20 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2025

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The stated that while the vehicle was parked, the tailgate opened independently, and the tailgate was manually closed. The contact stated that the next time after stepping out the vehicle, the tailgate opened independently. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started the tailgate was down, and the hazard light flashed. Most recently, the vehicle failed to start. The contact realized that the battery had failed to function as intended. The contact associated that the failure was a possible short circuit from the tailgate. The contact disconnected the battery. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the tailgate switch had failed and caused the battery to drain. The vehicle remained at the dealer pending the repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000.

21 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/14/2025

Was taking an exit car felt like lose control and got hit with the sign pole on the exit. I have been complaining for the safety reasons and the location and other issues in car to onstar and chevy for months. Went to freeport chevy dealer and changed oil, when I bought the car pre-approved but the when I went for the service they said no oil was changed since the car was new. And I have been paying for all the warranty and extended service but they said all oil change and others will cost approx $3200. They changed the oil but I have been seeing on the chevy app filter was never changed and the car didn’t feel same after the service.

22 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/28/2025

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, the vehicle vibrated and failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. Additionally, the vehicle failed to exceed 40 mph. The contact was able to pull over into a rest area. The power tailgate and power windows failed to function as intended, and the vehicle failed to restart. The message low battery power was displayed on the instrument panel. The contact attempted to jumpstart the vehicle however, the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where metal shavings were found in the oil pan and oil filter, which caused the engine to fail. The contact was informed that there was a hole in the radiator. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and paid for the engine replacement. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that days after retrieving the vehicle, the radio became inoperable. The contact stated that while the turn signal was activated, there was no sound, and the light on the onstar button failed to illuminate as intended, and the WI-fi intermittently failed to operate as intended. Most recently, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the telematic module had failed. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.

23 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/28/2025

The telematics module on my car stopped working. It caused all of my warning tones to go out and are not audible. Furthermore the onstar system is not working. I have read a lot of post and it seems like the module is a high fail item and if it fails after the manufactures warranty then we are left with a pretty hefty bill just to get one of the safety features to work. Gm needs to fix this at their expense given the amount of modules that have failed in the past few years on newer vehicles.

24 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2025

The problem that happened on my truck was the telecommunication module went out at 45k miles. That controls several features on my truck such as compass, navigation, remote start from cell phone, clock and several others. The biggest problem is that a check engine light pops up and you cant use your key fob to remote start your truck since the check engine light is on. I took it to the gm dealer to get fixed and they had to replace the module. According to my service advisor this is a common problem and I am looking for a recall or more information into why it failed.

25 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2025

On Sunday October 12th, 2025, we were driving in grand rapids,mn when our truck (2002 silverado [xxx] ) suddenly lost power. We were on a main highway without shoulders. The truck would not restart. The truck would not shift out of park to be rolled/pushed off the road. After about an hour, a tow truck arrived and towed the truck to our home ($200). We connected the odb2 code reader and found code p129f. After a bit of research, this code is related to a failed fuel pump control module (gm 13544060). The module is superseded with gm 13554821. We found this fuel control model is the subject of a recall (n252516900) on various gm vehicles that share a similar body design and year to this truck with this exact module. A semi-local dealer had the replacement part (gm 13554821 - $60) and we were able to replace it Monday morning to bring the vehicle back into service. I am requesting the following - expand the recall to include any vehicles with this known-faulty fuel pump control module information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

26 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2025

Megafuse on starter solenoid terminal of the buss bar has blown twice in a month, leaving a serious burn mark on buss bar where contact is made with fuse. Possible fire hazard inside engine bay on top of battery. This also keeps the vehicle from starting. 1 click, no start. Battery has full charge, jumping has no effect. Possible cause is ground wire short/fault between negative terminal and vehicle frame/body. No check engine light, no battery light, or any other indication of issue with starter or battery.

27 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/09/2025

While driving the tailgate released on its own. The warning lamp came on after the tailgate released, however if I had items in the back they could have been thrown out onto the highway. Other VIN numbers with this tailgate has a recall but for some reason my VIN was not included.

28 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2025

Onstar telematic module. Paying monthly for a safety service that does not work. My truck has 20k miles on it and has been in the shop multiple times for issues that should not have been issues. No warnings, onstar module just stopped functioning. Known issue but, I have to spend more hours at my dealership and pay $150 diagnostics fee for them to tell me what onstar already confirmed. All safety features disabled, all satellite and wireless features disabled. Gm is now saying it will not be covered under warranty. Again, the truck has 20k miles and this is a major safety issue that is being paid for monthly and was a major factor in the decision to purchase this vehicle.

29 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2025

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet silverado ltd 1500. The contact stated that the tailgate was opening unintendedly while driving and while the vehicle was parked. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact related the failure to an unknown recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

30 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2025

Issue: (1) was parking truck and as I placed the shifter into "r", it would not stay in "r" I could not engage reverse. After 3-4 times, I pulled straight forward and attempted to shift the vehicle into "r". It finally locked into "r" and I was able to back the truck up. I also experienced a hard shift when I had placed it into "d" to pull forward. Issue: (2) earlier that day, was as I was backing out of my driveway, I noticed my backup video, went out, and intermittently, came back on. At one point it displayed a circle with a triangle?.

31 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2025

The trailer brake controller goes off and on. A message in the truck reads trailer brakes off, trailer brakes on, check wiring. Repeats every 45 seconds or so. You never know when you have trailer brakes or not. Did not have trouble prior 3 years with a different truck? I saw 2022 trucks had a safety recall but my VIN was not included, which it should have. Very dangerous.

32 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2025

It stopped working and I turned it off and on it it worked next day stopped working and did the same thing its been doing it for about 5 months and it faild and dont work any more.

33 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2025

I was driving down the road at speed when the gauge cluster lost power and reset, the truck jerked violently. A couple days before the truck lost all electrical power (lost gauges, door locks, interior lights, door locks and ignition) while idling.

34 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2025

I have a 2022 chevy silverado and my wifi, onstar, gps mapping is not working.   I got the run around from the dealership and they told me to call onstar because my onstar and wifi it's not working.   turns out the telematic control module is defective and not working.   they want me to pay $450 for the part and $155 labor to fix this issue.   I have 54245 miles on my truck so it's not covered under the bumper to bumper yet this is a known issue with this part and chevy or onstar should cover the replacement.   I see all the complaints online and nothing being done.   how are people supposed to have confidence in the onstar program when they go to use it and it's broken? there's no indicator until it's just not working. The telematic control module (tcm) in a chevy silverado is the brain for connected services like onstar, gps, and remote diagnostics, collecting vehicle data (location, performance) via the obd-ii port and sending it to cloud.

35 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2025

The raido screen glitches randomly and wont let you use it. The engine has a bad shudder while driving. When the engine shudders the rpms go down. It has hard shift most of the time after sitting over night and starting driving in the morning. It has been doing these issues for at least 6 months.
