I was driving on the interstate at speed when the dash cluster stopped responding. All gauges went to zero including rpms and speed. I was unable to determine if the engine was still running. The cluster was out for about 15 seconds and then began working again. By the time I had maneuvered to the side of the road, everything was normal again. The same failure happened a few days later.
Instar and telematics module faulty! click is 30 min behind, auto me time set will not work, manual time looses 1min a day. No onstar button, no google maps or compass. Others have had same issue- telematics module.
This truck is locking up momentarily, sometimes at high rates of speed on the interstate. It is very violent and jars the neck of my and my passengers. It leaves tire skid marks on the highway at high rates of speeds. It happens when I slow down or when the truck tries to shift gears. Turns out, gm has a recall for this exact issue, (n242454440) but my VIN is not included for some reason. The chevy dealer has confirmed this issue and is recommending a new transmission. This has been ongoing since July and I am on pins and needles every time I drive this vehicle. Can you please encourage gm to include my VIN in their recall: n242454440, holding me harmless for the repairs?.
2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 multiflex tailgate main tailgate unlock/open button has stopped working. The dealership (marine chevy jacksonville nc)stated that they have had to replace alot of them even on the 1500 series. They are now on back order with no expected availability date. Yes my vehicle is available for inspection. Requires the use of the key fob to unlock. I do not know why it has stopped working is it a wiring issue? if it is a wiring issue it should not go out on a vehicle that is less than 3 years old. Also could this cause other electrical issues.
I have a 22022 refresh Silverado 1500 high country with 12,500 miles that gets a "service transmission" warning and kills the engine leaving it in the traffic. When trying to restart the truck it just keeps flashing errors and can't be restarted for about half hour. This has happened twice to me so far. The codes recorded are in the attached file.
Electronic tailgate malfunction which drained the battery. Tailgate will open on its on with vehicle off but will not open with key fob or any buttons.
Key will no release from ignition after being placed in park.
When shut off and put in park it will not allow the truck to turn all they way off because it says it’s not in park. I’ve read that there has been several issues with this is the dealer charges anywhere between $900-$1500 to attempt to fix but people are saying it doesn’t. Also there is no dip stick to check transmission fluid. And apparently even ase certified mechanics can’t check the fluid levels.
Unknown the tailgate keeps opening on its own.
My tailgate started opening randomly for 2 consecutive days now. This happens while the vehicle is in park with the keys out of the ignition and also while driving down the road exposing items in the bed to possibly fall out and cause potential injury or death from accidents.
Loss of motor power due to engine loss. Electronics not functioning properly. Was in danger on an interstate when motor failed to work. I had no warning lights that anything was wrong with the vehicle. Engine failure was not detected until vehicle was towed to the dealership.
We have had several issues with our vehicle from early ownership, such as, (1) signal light goes from very fast blinking to working. We have taken it to the dealership and are told they cannot duplicate the issue. It seems to correct itself when you turn off the truck and turn it back on. (2) the digital screen about the steering wheel where all all your gauges are have gone completely black. I took it to the dealership and was told that they had to keep the truck until they could duplicate the issue, but again, turning off and then turning it back on seemed to help. Sometimes it works on the first restart, and others it takes a few times and longer times between restarts. (3) onstar has stopped communicating with my vehicle about a year, year and half in. (4) google maps has never worked. (5) remote starts works sometimes. (6) auto-shut off works sometimes. (7) air conditioner started having issues last summer. We have to turn off and on the vehicle or rev up the engine so that it will kick in. This works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. (7) esc and traction control lights came on, the truck starts shaking, and brakes locked. Truck had to be towed to nearest dealership. The truck only had 12k miles when this happened. (8) around the same mileage, an injector had to be replaced. (9) now at 52k miles, we have the esc, traction control, and check engine light again. Truck is shaking, feels like the gears are slipping when you press on gas, and has white smoke coming from the mufflers. These issues have been report to both local dealership and gm corporate office. These issues have left us stranded 300 miles from home and has left us without air conditioner in 3-digit weather when we had our grandbaby with us.
Electrical component failure in the tailgate handle causes the tailgate to come open at anytime during driving. Also the malfunction causes your battery to go dead.
Tailgate got water in it. Continues to open repeatedly, user cannot stop it. Same part is recalled on 2500 hd and 3500 hd models. However, Silverado 1500 models (with the same tailgate switch part) are not currently covered by recall. This results in dead battery, open tailgate on the road - and contents of bed spilling onto highway. Vehicle further stalls due to electrical draw, causing total loss of usage, including brakes, steering, etc. I have video of the tailgate triggering and opening on its own.
We were informed by dealer that there is a recall reguarding some software that needs to be updated to reduce the chance of battery drainage. The catch is they are trying to sell us a part for $567. 00 to be installed so they can update the software to fix the problem. (terry thompson chevy).
I was driving down the highway at 60 mph and a display warning came on the display monitor. It said shift into neutral and restart engine. Then the engine died and I had to try and get off the highway. There was a complete lose of power so getting off the highway was difficult without any power including steering. The engine would not restart and when to tow truck came about 2 hours later it still would not start or shift into neutral to be loaded. Eventually the tow driver got it to shift into neutral so he could loaded the truck. My safety was at risk because it was difficult to get off the road and had there been more traffic it could of resulted in a collision. I was in a dead area for phone service and I had to sit there for about 2 hours waiting for someone to stop and help me get to an area with cell service. The pickup was dropped off at the nearest gm dealership and they looked at it and the engine had a catastrophic failure. It requires a new engine, but since it is under warranty it may take up to 1 years for a replacement.
I have both key fobs with me in the vehicle and it will not start. I have a message on the dash stating” key fob not detected” I live in north dakota and the winters here reach temperature to -40. I find this issues to be very dangerous, potentially being stranded in the middle of nowhere and not being able to start your vehicle manually.
Two separate but related incidents: 1. Sudden complete loss of power on a busy highway interchange. I had to pull over in an unsafe merge point. The truck would not start and had to be towed to a dealership. The tow driver was eventually able to start the truck and load it on a flatbed. The dealership had the vehicle for 3-4 days and replaced the starter and a fuse. 2. Second incident happened approximately 24 hours after getting truck back from the first incident. Sudden loss of power coming up a large hill. Truck completely died and would not start again. Tow truck driver could not get the truck started and therefore could not get the truck in neutral. Tow truck driver had to drag the truck on to a flatbed and tow to a dealership. Dealership reported metal in the oil filter and requires complete engine replacement. The incident happened on December 16th, 2024.
Approx. 8 weeks ago, the onstar module stopped working. Took it in for repair, dealer tells me "no eta on a replacement part, we will keep in touch" after further investigation, I went on the onstar and chevy message boards, and I've discovered that this issue has been going on for over 6 months in some cases and there are alot, I mean alot of people having the same problem. This problem causes all of the remote options to stop working among other things as well. In most cases people have paid a subscription up front for a year.
The transmission have a delay after you put in d after 2 of 3 minute it jump forward an another 10 feet does it again then drive ok until I stop the all stop when it restart it launch forward, I will have to hold brake down hard like emergency stop to keep it rear in the vehicle in front of me. I have to be careful with somebody is in front me in crosswalk. The problem is in the center on some go black for hour, if it done do that everything freeze on the display some time for hour even if I stop and restart the truck, this is get worse as the week go by. This is my third update.
I have already file for the transmission know my center task is freeze up me and not work some time for hours, know this week the rear end have start make noise it start happen around about 40 mile and hour on and off alway up 80. This is a everyday thing.
Driving down the highway and vehicle just shut off. Dealer says needs a new engine due to camshaft and lifters. Only 80,000 miles but out of warranty.
I was coming out of my workplace, made a right turn on to a main street, the lights were red so I was waiting to proceed and my truck engine just shut off. As the light turned green, I attempted to start the truck by turning the key off to restart the truck again, I tried twice to restart the truck, but it wouldn’t turn over, I couldn’t put my hazard lamps on because I lost all power. I was afraid because two 18 wheeler trucks were coming behind me . This area is heavily used by the trucking industry delivering goods to companies in the area. I was terrified that I was going to be hit from behind, I gave the ignition another try and the truck started, but it was sluggish in pulling off. I called the dealership that day and my new truck was at the dealership for almost a week. The following day of my drop off, the dealership said they recieved a recall on my truck. I have the repair ticket from the dealership. I no longer have faith in the truck that I paid so much money for, not the company that built it.
Transmission will not shift to park from drive or reverse on first attempt. It takes several attempts to put vehicle into park after it has been stopped.
While driving at highway speeds, the vehicle has spontaneously locked up the front brakes/wheels three separate times. All three times have been at 55- 65mph and have completely locked up the front brakes leaving tire marks on the pavement. No automated braking system engaged, just full lock up. No warning lights or obd codes and the dealer mechanics can find nothing wrong.
As I was exiting a highway offramp after about (4) hours of driving, the infotainment radio went to full volume as I was listening to music either on spotify (through apple car play) or sirius xm, I can't remember. It startled me to the point I almost rear-ended the car in front of me. As fast as I was trying to turn the volume down with the steering wheel controls, it went right up to 100% faster. The mute button on the dash did not work, I finally was able to hit the pause button on the app. , and eventually fiddled with the infotainment system until the volume controls returned to normal.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to respond. The failure was intermittent but had become a recurring failure. Occasionally, while attempting to start the vehicle, the starter was making an abnormal clicking sound, but the vehicle failed to respond as needed. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer to be diagnosed; however, the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact stated that the 12-volt battery had been tested and was deemed to be in optimal condition. The vehicle was not repaired, and the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 11,000.
When putting my vehicle in park and turning vehicle off keys won’t come out and stay stuck. Problem continues to only get worse and I have to wait to remove key. Battery sometimes dies as I am very busy and don’t have time to sit there and play or wait for key to come out 10+minutes. In the heat vehicle is off as I am trying to remove key and I have a baby in the car seat in the heat. This is extremely frustrating and dealership won’t do anything about it. This is my only vehicle and I can’t afford a rental car while I send it in so I continue to deal with it. Sometimes I have to leave keys attached hoping no one steals my vehicle or belongings. I have taken to a mechanic and they cannot firguee out the issue.
On more than one occasion, the vehicle jolted forward when going to accelerate from being stopped at a red light. It felt like the vehicle was rear ended by a vehicle behind (it was not) to give some perspective. The last time it happened, the engine shut down but the dash stayed on, and the dash would not turn off, nor would the engine restart. The Chevrolet dealership which it was towed to is stating that the wires from the engine wire harness are chaffing and that the entire engine wire harness needs to be replaced. Additionally, there is a service bulletin posted by gm indicating that the proper repair for this is to replace the engine wire harness and add additional protection, which is a clear indication of faulty engineering to begin with.
Bought the truck brand new and the transmission hard shifts in every gear. Has been in and out of the dealership nonstop for the past 2 years for electrical issues with the radio, an oil sensor wiring issue, and the dealership is trying to say 5 modules are out in the truck. They only posted 3 modules and they were transfer case module, power steering module, and body control module.
The engine started to shake violently while traveling down the interstate, my speeds reduced against my will. My safety and the safety of others was jeopardized while I'm traveling down an interstate with a minimum speed of 70 mph and my truck speed reduced to 35 mph or less. After an inspection from the dealership, I assumed the responsibility of having the engine rebuilt that cost me thousands of dollars. As the vehicle started to reduce speed is when the onstar alert went off. After having my vehicle for 10 ten days I receive it in worst condition that I gave it to them. Approximately 2 weeks later, the vehicle had to be towed to the dealership which they diagnosed it as needing the throttle body replaced. I allowed the dealership to fix that issue. Upon them returning the vehicle to me, I now have an electrical issue. The dealership stated that they may have crossed wires. The windows would roll down once I locked the vehicle, the door would constantly unlocked while I'm driving and the radio would shut down and restart while driving. The dealership was unable to find the problem so they decided to turn off everything so these I would not have these issues. Now I can smell something burning from time to time while I'm driving.
The dashboard fails and stops working, the shift to park wont engage and the key is not working to start the car. I have reported it to the dealer and to gm and they refuse to acknowledge the issue. The feldman service person says it will eventually be a recall and will not help until then. They wont even let me pay to have it fixed they wont acknowledge it at all.
Several times since I bought this truck new, the front turn signals fail. The blinker starts blinking very fast and if flashes a message to check the front turn signal. This has happened with both sides. Took it to the dealer 2x with a video of the dash and they say they cannot reproduce the problem. The internet is full of people with the same problems.
While towing a camping trailer, the brakes for the trailer kept issuing a warning saying "connected" then "not connected - check trailer brake wiring". Then "trailer brake not connected". After a while the brake system stopped working entirely. The 30 amp fuse that controls the trailer braking system blows out. This fuse is not a common fuse and not available at some auto parts stores (not really convenient while towing away from home). Evidently there is a problem with the brake control module that is factory installed. The module does not like the charging system on the trailer battery. I have spent hundreds of dollars and many hours in different shops trying to trace down this problem. It is very unsafe to have the trailer brakes not work while driving. This faulty module needs to be recalled. Part # 23306694.
The tailgate has become disengaged on 3 or 4 separate occurrences. I see there is a problem and a recall for 2020-24 vehicles although our vehicle is not in the recall. The problem I am having is the same as the recall. I am looking for some assistance because my issue is the same as the recall and my warrantee is about to expire. The recall covers certain 2020-2024 Chevrolet silverado 2500, 3500, and GMC sierra 2500 and 3500 vehicles that have power unlatching tailgates. The problem occurs if water has leaked into the tailgate's electronic gate-release switch. The electronic switch may short circuit, resulting in the tailgate unlatching.
