The tailgate is clicking continuously and dropping at random moments when I’m stationary as well as driving. It is draining the battery and leaving me stranded with zero power or resources for help.
The truck is jumpy during stops. I get a low voltage code but the battery is fine I had it checked out. Reduced acceleration has been activated and after I turn the truck off it is fine. The check engine light comes on and turns off on it's on sometimes same day. I know there is a recall on certain 2022 silverados but they told me this one wasn't on the recall. It did have one for the brake system they said.
The onstar module goes bad I have a 2022 with 60,000miles and they won't replace it and want to charge me $1,000 on a $80,000 truck. I'm not the only one I've seen multiple people with gm vehicles with the same exact issue. The people with super cruise (car drives itself) it will cause it to stop working. Not even the clock will work because onstar controls updating it I can't even connect to wifi to have it fixed. If I manually set the time the next week it is 5 min behind the next 10 and within a month it's 20 mins behind. I'm pretty sure the sos button won't work either.
The rear window did not stop when a child's hand was in the closing space. The [xxx] old's hand was caught, causing injury and pain. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Fuel tank and def tank issues that throws error codes that will make your engine go into slump mode.
The automatic shifting gear is not shifting the vehicle won't speed up.
A recurring malfunction occurs with the infotainment/radio and rear backup camera display. The rear backup camera view remains stuck on while driving forward in drive at speeds over 20 mph, including highway speeds. The system also cycles between screens (including switching to the camera view), and the infotainment freezes and becomes unresponsive (loss of screen/control). Audio playback and hands-free calls become staticky/distorted. These events create a serious driver distraction and safety risk while driving. This has occurred multiple times, including during long-distance driving, and has been significant enough that I have had to pull over to the side of the road multiple times. In multiple incidents, the system did not recover until I pulled a fuse to reset/shut down the system so I could continue driving safely. The unit remains powered on after the vehicle is turned off and exited. There is also a history of battery drain/no-start events requiring jump starts. No warning lights or warning messages are displayed before or during the failure; the system becomes unresponsive and behaves unpredictably. The problem is intermittent and has occurred multiple times over the life of the vehicle, including after a head unit replacement. Dealers have documented the concern on repair orders; during the most recent visit the dealer noted no diagnostic trouble codes (dtcs) stored.
Vehicle has experienced repeated internal engine failures related to the exhaust valve lash adjusters and valvetrain. The engine developed abnormal valvetrain noise, misfires under load, and loss of power. The check engine light would only flash during hard acceleration or when passing another vehicle (wide-open throttle), then turn off after approximately 10–15 seconds and never remain illuminated. Because the warning light would not stay on, the vehicle continued to be operated without clear indication of an active or worsening engine failure. Dealer inspection confirmed exhaust valve lash adjuster failure, which led to camshaft and valvetrain damage. This failure has occurred more than once, including after prior dealer repairs. This is a serious safety concern because the vehicle was driven at highway speeds and during passing maneuvers while experiencing internal engine damage and misfires, without persistent warning to the driver. Sudden power loss, stalling, or catastrophic engine failure during acceleration or passing presents a risk of crash or injury. This appears to be a systemic engine defect rather than normal wear, as the failure recurred and was not reliably detected by the vehicle’s monitoring system.
Tailgate opens automatically on its own while parked and while driving. This also causes the battery to drain down to being dead as it continues to operate the actuator I had to unplug the electronic tailgate switch to stop the battery from graining. Besides the battery draining, the tailgate opened when I had a load in the bed of the pick up truck as I drove causing a possible unsafe load and spillage onto the road way. Dealership notified. Appt scheduled for jan7 2026. No warning lamps came on.
The drivers side window regulator cable completely rusted through and broke. There should be a recall as there is a ton of videos on youtube on how to fix this. Every single one of us the bottom cable completely rusted through and broke on the regulator. First picture is old rusted broke one, 2nd is the new gm part, you can see it was sitting in water, my truck is less than 3 years old. Oh it’s always the driver side.
My check engine light came on and the diagnostic code was p1098. I noticed there was a special warranty for my make and model and engine but for some reason mine does not have this special warranty. I have researched and found out this is a common problem with these trucks. I think there should be a recall for this as it poses safety problems and concerns when it enters limp mode.
The telematics module on my car stopped working. It caused all of my warning tones to go out and are not audible. Furthermore the onstar system is not working. I have read a lot of post and it seems like the module is a high fail item and if it fails after the manufactures warranty then we are left with a pretty hefty bill just to get one of the safety features to work. Gm needs to fix this at their expense given the amount of modules that have failed in the past few years on newer vehicles.
We are having 2 problems with this vehicle. The first is the key in the ignition is not always removeable when you turn the truck off. The second is we are told called the chevy shudder. It almost feels like the wheels pause for a micro second. It feels like the there is something wrong in the transmission, drive train area. The truck started doing this when it had less than 50,000 miles on it. It hasn't broke down yet but it wouldn't surprise me if it did any day now.
The truck lost power without warning. No warning lights, messages or other symptoms prior to the truck not having any power. Scary because we where traveling at around 40-50 mph and the truck lost power while on the road with other vehicles. The truck is at a dealership now being investigated.
I have contacted a dealer on 3 occasions to help me with an unrepaired recall. I contacted gm directly regarding the recall. They won't look at my truck to determine what needs to be done.
Unknown. The transmission is kicking really bad. There are recalls on other vehicles similar to ours that are having the same issue. It has been doing this for a while now. It shifts hard from 1st to 2nd gear and when coming to a complete stop it also jerks. Also at times the check engine light comes on and it will not shift at all. I am afraid this is going to cause an accident.
This truck is locking up momentarily, sometimes at high rates of speed on the interstate. It is very violent and jars the neck of my and my passengers. It leaves tire skid marks on the highway at high rates of speeds. It happens when I slow down or when the truck tries to shift gears. Turns out, gm has a recall for this exact issue, (n242454440) but my VIN is not included for some reason. The chevy dealer has confirmed this issue and is recommending a new transmission. This has been ongoing since July and I am on pins and needles every time I drive this vehicle. Can you please encourage gm to include my VIN in their recall: n242454440, holding me harmless for the repairs?.
While driving my 2022 Chevrolet silverado, the vehicle suddenly veered to the right without any driver input, ultimately crashing into a concrete guardrail. At the time of the incident, I was merging into the left lane with my turn signal activated and traveling below the posted speed limit. According to the statement provided to my insurance company—and based on my direct experience—the truck appeared to take control of itself, and I could not prevent it from veering off the road. The impact caused significant front-end damage and triggered the deployment of the airbags. It is important to note that the lane keep assist feature was turned off at the time of the crash—we do not use or rely on this feature. Therefore, the event cannot be attributed to any automated steering correction system. The airbag deployment resulted in serious injuries to the front-seat passenger, who sustained severe burns and blistering to the right arm and hand. The injuries were substantial and are documented in photographs, which can be provided upon request. A VIN search confirmed that this vehicle has no active recalls. However, the circumstances of this crash suggest a potential malfunction in the electronic steering assist, throttle control, or transmission system. After the crash, the vehicle was towed to my insurance company’s preferred collision repair shop. However, I have not authorized any repairs or inspections. I specifically instructed the shop to delay all work until after I file this safety complaint and have the opportunity to request a third-party inspection. The vehicle remains in its post-crash condition, and to the best of my knowledge, the event data recorder (edr) has not been altered and should still contain valuable diagnostic data. I respectfully request that this incident be investigated as a potential vehicle safety defect. I am providing photographic evidence of the crash damage and resulting injuries.
While driving, speed can vary, but yesterday we were going almost 50, and the transmission or brakes lock up which causes the back axel to lock up and the tire squeal, similar to slamming on the brakes. It caused my truck to sway side to side and scare the hell out of my son. Definitely not safe. The local dealer says it is a stuck valve or something. It has caused the engine light to come on multiple times, but will go off after 24 hours or so. But it keeps occurring. Happened 3 times on 7-8-25. Give a whiplash feeling to the body as well. One coded p0747 transmission solenoid valve 1 stuck on invalid configuration other time was p0700 transmission control module requested malfunction please issue a recall so this can be resolved before an accident or injury occurs.
Driving across town, rear wheel lock up occurred. Feels like hitting a small tree. Scary situation. Whole truck is rocked.
Our parking brake locked up and we could not go anywhere. Had to have it taken to a dealership to have it looked at. Then all our warning lights keep going off and it says acceleration speed slow down drive safely and its parked. We have had nothing but problems with the truck since we bought it. We had the transmission replaced before there was even 50,000 miles on it. I feel we got a lemon nothing but problems.
Driving across town. Going around 30 mph. Through a busy intersection and the rear wheels locked up again. Sends a jolt to anyone in the vehicle. Causing a whiplash effect. Scary as hell. Seems to happen almost daily now. Very unsafe. Worried about myself and anyone behind me. Dealer and other mechanics described it as "momentary wheel lock up". Please issue a recall.
When accelerating, it started around 35 mph, I would be driving and it would feel like hitting a speed bump, even though there wasn't a speed bump. Over the past month, it has moved to about the 45 mph, and the rear wheels completely lock up for a second, cause the tires to "squeal" as if slamming on the brakes. It gives anyone in the vehicle a whiplash effect. Any loose items in the truck will go flying. It is a scary situation and I am worried it is going to cause damage to myself or my passengers or cause an accident. The term given to me by the dealer is "momentary rear wheel lock-up". They were very familiar with the issue, but since my VIN wasn't on the recall, they wouldn't do anything. This has happened numerous times, starting back in early March. The issue has escaladed and gotten worse. The latest date is noted below.
2022 chevy Silverado 1500 is unable recognize that it has been placed in park consistently, essentially trapping us in the vehicle until the "shift to park" error gets corrected. After shifting the vehicle into park and pressing the button to turn off the vehicle, an error comes up on the dash saying "shift to park". In order to clear this error and have the vehicle recognize that it is safely parked, we must turn the vehicle back on, put the vehicle in reverse or drive, and depress the gas pedal to move the vehicle slightly, shift the vehicle to park again, wait at least 30 seconds to a minute, and then finally press the button to turn off the vehicle. And we must repeat this anywhere from 3 to 15 times until the brakes safely engage to park the vehicle. I worry that the vehicle wont safely go into park and will roll away on its own. This is the same error that was reported for other gm models recently and is affecting the safety, reliability, usability, and longevity of this vehicle.
My vehicle has 43k miles and I just got a p1098 code. I took it to a local mechanic and they have determined that the engine coolant control valve position sensor is not functioning. This is causing the fan to run at 100% at all times. I am also getting a message on the dash stating that the vehicle is in reduced acceleration mode. When doing my research I have found that this part is failing on multiple silverado's. The part is on national back order and the dealership won't answer any questions regarding warranty.
My tailgate started opening randomly for 2 consecutive days now. This happens while the vehicle is in park with the keys out of the ignition and also while driving down the road exposing items in the bed to possibly fall out and cause potential injury or death from accidents.
Electrical component failure in the tailgate handle causes the tailgate to come open at anytime during driving. Also the malfunction causes your battery to go dead.
At ~51,000 miles, my 2022 silverado trail boss 6. 2l l87 experienced a sudden engine failure while on / exiting the highway. The engine began shaking violently, the check engine light flashed, and it lost all power without warning. It was towed and remained out of service for 28 days. The dealer diagnosed lifter delamination, a scored camshaft, and scored cam, main, and rod bearings. Metal shavings were found in the engine, indicating internal contamination. Despite the severity, the manufacturer approved only an engine overhaul, not a full replacement. The service manager stated, “it’s nearly impossible to get these motors,” pointing to a national shortage due to widespread failures of the 6. 2l engine platform. After picking up the vehicle, I immediately noticed a rattling noise from underneath. I returned to the dealer (who also failed to recharge the ac system). They traced the noise to the catalytic converter and muffler and quoted $2,709. 24 to replace the full exhaust system. The manufacturer refused to cover the repair, even though the issue appeared immediately after the engine failure. The dealer did not confirm the exact cause, but possible contributing factors include combustion instability, engine misfires, unburned fuel, and extreme vibration during the failure. These conditions can severely impact the exhaust system and emissions components. I was quoted nearly $4,000 for an extended warranty, which I now feel pressured to buy due to loss of confidence in the engine. Metal debris may have affected the oiling system, injectors, or other critical parts. This raises serious safety concerns: sudden power loss at highway speed, compromised emissions components, and the risk of future failures. With the 6. 2l under NHTSA investigation, I believe this incident supports further review or recall.
Difficulty shifting from drive to park.
I have both key fobs with me in the vehicle and it will not start. I have a message on the dash stating” key fob not detected” I live in north dakota and the winters here reach temperature to -40. I find this issues to be very dangerous, potentially being stranded in the middle of nowhere and not being able to start your vehicle manually.
Back glass has cracks in upper plastic rail and is leaking.
- engine seizure: reason undisclosed to me - vehicle was traveling at highway speeds, lost power steering - dealership disclosed that it was due to an engine seizure - unknown - only 1 indicator came on the instrument cluster and occurred after the failure. The indicator stated “shifting conditions not met” I had lost power from the vehicle and vehicle shifted into neutral by itself. The vehicle was within normal temperatures before the incident and maintenance was up-kept.
I am filing a complaint because my 2022 high country Chevrolet silverado truck has experienced multiple dangerou transmission failures 4all occurring while driving resulting in complete loss of power sudden stalling in traffic placing everyone in danger. This vehicle has malfunction repeatedly since just day 10 after purchase date and each breakdown has been transmission related occurring suddenly transmission was replaced twice in last 4 months. First incident November 27, 2024 the truck stalled in the middle of the road on card sound heading to a job in the florida keys. The vehicle locked up while driving putting us at extreme risk two-lane road next to water with no shoulder. The truck remained in the service department at bomnin Chevrolet west kendall for 73 days until February 7, 2025. The second incident was only 13 days after the truck again experience loss of power & transmission malfunction the second safety incident for the same issue vehicle was in the shop until March 5, 2025, third safety incident for the same issue was June 25, 2025 once again same issue transmission we took the truck back for service bomnin Chevrolet west kendall. The truck remained in the shop for a full month. Although the truck was returned July 25, 2025 and they said transmission was replaced. The truck continued to give us issues leading us to the last incident for the same exact thing transmission failed again October 7, 2025. Again in the middle of a very dangerous street in hialeah, florida where we had to once again to the car to the service department the truck remained in the service department until November 21, 2025. Each failure has happened while driving. Two transmission replacements June service and oct. 2025 three months apart. The truck is unsafe I am scared to drive it and we have children ranging from newborn, one year-old , teenagers. I keep getting a runaround between the gm customer service the service department. Almost 6 months non use first year!.
As I was exiting a highway offramp after about (4) hours of driving, the infotainment radio went to full volume as I was listening to music either on spotify (through apple car play) or sirius xm, I can't remember. It startled me to the point I almost rear-ended the car in front of me. As fast as I was trying to turn the volume down with the steering wheel controls, it went right up to 100% faster. The mute button on the dash did not work, I finally was able to hit the pause button on the app. , and eventually fiddled with the infotainment system until the volume controls returned to normal.
While driving, my bose radio system went to full volume and would not respond. I tried to turn the radio off but the power button would not work. I tried to turn the volume down using both the volume knob and the volume controls on the steering wheel with negative results. If I turned the volume knob fast enough, I could get the volume to turn down, but I had to continually keep turning the knob counter-clockwise else the volume would return to full volume. I was able to pull off the road and I turned the truck off. I turned the truck back on but the volume was still at full volume. I let the truck sit around 10 minutes and was able to drive it again with normal volume. I called my dealer, bob jass Chevrolet in elburn IL to report the incident. Erin said to bring the truck in to have it reprogrammed. This happened once before - summer 2023. Bob jass Chevrolet reprogrammed it on June 30, 2023. Other owners have reported having this issue in the silverado truck forums. When this happens it is a major distraction, and it will result in someone crashing because of it. Component: bose sound system. It is available for inspection with proper notice safety at risk: the volume goes to full volume instantly without warning and can't be turned down. The truck must rest approximately 10 minutes to return to normal. Problem reproduced: when I reported this to the dealer in June 2023 erin advised this has happened to other owners and she wasn't surprised. Component inspected: bob jass Chevrolet service department has reprogrammed the bose sound system once before but the problem happened again on April 30, 2024. Warnings: no warnings - the volume jumps to full volume instantly without warning.
