Automatic Transmission Control Module problems of the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Description of the problem: my 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has a recurring transmission issue involving hard shifting and shuddering during normal driving. The transmission frequently hesitates, clunks, or jolts when changing gears, especially at low to moderate speeds. These symptoms occur consistently and have worsened over time. Safety concerns: the harsh gear engagement and shuddering make the vehicle difficult to control smoothly. It feels like something will break while I'm driving. The unpredictable shifting behavior feels unsafe in traffic, during merging, and when accelerating from a stop, or driving on the freeway. I am concerned this may be related to widespread transmission complaints reported by other 2023 silverado owners, including valve body and tcm failures. Service history: I have not contacted my dealership regarding the issue. Why I’m reporting: I believe this transmission behavior presents a potential safety defect. I am submitting this complaint so NHTSA can review it as part of ongoing monitoring of similar issues reported for this model year.

Valve body in the transmission failed while driving on the freeway, all of a sudden it was like the car was in neutral and the rpm's went to redline. Dealer is telling me it is a known issue and has no idea on when they will be able to get parts because they have been on backorder forever. Says that they also have to replaced the transmission control module (tcm). Same thing no eta on parts. If this is a known issue why have they not recalled them. Fom what I see on line this failure is happening a lot to people, hence the unavailability of replacements parts.

The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at approximately 60 mph, and shifting gear, the vehicle lost motive power for 15-20 seconds. The forward collision avoidance warning light was illuminated. On another occasion, while her husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, the driver assist function was activated, and an error message was displayed, and the vehicle failed to operate as intended. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the contact was informed that the transmission fluid needed to be flushed, and the tcm module needed to be updated. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 42,000.

No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the transmission control module (tcm) needed to be reset. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving into his driveway, with the vehicle lunging forward. The vehicle was then taken to murdock Chevrolet (2375 s 625 w, woods cross, ut 84010), where the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired and had remained at the local dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 1,000. The VIN was not available.
