3 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2026

Transmission has jerked/bumped in past and now at approx 85k miles, it supposedly needs a new transmission. I've heard it is a pretty big issue and seems llike relatively low mileage for this to be happening to 2023 year model. I certainly don't drive it hard and rarely tow or haul heavy loads.

4 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/26/2026

At cold start vehicle often required several seconds for the transmission to engage before moving. After traveling at highway speed (45+ mph) vehicle began to make clunking noise as if the transmission were changing gears but it was not and the rpms on the tachometer did not change. Instances became worse and more frequent over 6 month period, vehicle never displayed any codes and no notifications or check engine/transmission lights on driver information center. Took vehicle to o’fallon Buick GMC and was advised torque converter and transmission valve body had failed and needed replaced. I inquired about ongoing issue with this vehicle based on my findings online and was told it was not a recall issue at this time. Truck has 74,000 miles and service records for all maintenance to date.

5 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/22/2026

One day the trucks transmission started to struggle to find the next gear after taking off from a light. The next morning it did it again and that night did it a third time. The third time it about brought the truck to a stop at 30 mph and made a bang noise, in which a check engine light came on and a message saying speed limited and drive with caution. The truck only has 20,000 miles and already is having transmission issues, which is just unacceptable.

6 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2026

2023 1500 rst 6. 2. Recall was done and performed last year. Truck passed so they changed the oil and sent me on my way. I have had zero issues up until last week. My gut tells me the replacement is going to be the same engine with the same failing parts that I already have so expect I may have issues in the future even after the new engine. -on interstate going 55mph, went to accelerate to 70mph and throttle did nothing; no rpm,no down shift, no speed change. Just dead. Suddenly the truck shut off the engine and kicked my transmission into neutral. I tried to restart the truck hoping it would fire just long enough to get me to a safe zone with no luck as the starter would turn but nothing from the engine. Mind you this was rush hour in a construction zone with no shoulder available at the moment. Luckily I coasted, got to the slow lane and was able to veer off safely onto the side of an exit ramp. No notice, no way to safely limp my truck, just a complete shut down. How this isn’t a lawsuit or more people haven’t been seriously injured or worse is beyond me- a total shutdown while driving highway speeds and no way to overcome or at least limit the speed for a short period is unbelievable. Even though warranty is now through 2033/150k miles for the powertrain due to the recall, and I’ve also thought about adding 3-4 years extended for bumper to bumper with all the tech, I now have zero faith in my truck or my safety once I get it back. I’m sure the trade value will also be considerably low due to the 6. 2. I’ve owned chevys for 12 years and am either going back to the 5. 3 or switching brands altogether. Possibly a 5. 7 hemi without etorque.

7 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2026

The vehicle lost power and went into limp mode on 3/3. I had it transported to a dealership and they said there was metal containments in the motor. I got it back on 3/17 and they said all was well but it never drove right. It broke down again on 3/20 and the said the throttle body was out. Why had they not found this issue before? this seems to be a recurring issue with this model truck.

8 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/27/2026

This truck has a 6. 2 engine that was recalled, inspected, and made the switch to the new oil, but then failed. I believe you already have a recall query rq26001 related to this matter. I received the recall notice July 2025, took the vehicle to covert bee cave in austin, TX July 2025. They told me it passed inspection and put the new oil cap on. Within two weeks I began having transmission issues. I left the truck with them for three weeks and they could not do anything about the transmission. The transmission issue did not reappear until a couple of weeks ago. I took it to capitol Chevrolet and they replaced a shifter rod in the transmission, but I am not convinced that was the issue as it still shifted rough. Just a couple of days later, before I could take it back to have capitol look at the transmission, and while driving on an interstate south of san antonio, TX, the engine slowed down, flashed a warning "oil pressure low turn vehicle off" and it continued to slow. I was barely able to exit the interstate, the truck stopped and would not restart. I had it towed to vara Chevrolet in san antonio ($440 tow expense) and it still would not start. The technician finally inspected it a few days later, said the engine is seized, and they will need to replace the entire engine, and that it is covered under warranty (there was plenty of oil in my engine). He did not say anything about the transmission. I believe this is an example of my vehicle passing the recall inspection, changing to the new oil, and the engine still failing - and at a very dangerous time on the interstate.

9 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/26/2026

Valve body went out while driving, drastically reduced speed, threw code p0747.

10 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/25/2026

My engine completely died, and a complete loss of propulsion happened. My safety was put at risk due to no power while on busy highway. This problem with l87 engines (6. 2) has been reported extensively. The vehicle was inspected for gm program # n252494000, NHTSA 25v74 for above issues and was inspected on 2025-08-28. Inspection passed, but the failure ultimatel happened on 2025-02-25. Dealer indicated engine was covered under original powertrain warranty and gm would send a remanufactured engine. Dealer has still not received the engine as of Monday (2/23), which is almost a month later. While driving on a us highway in a rural area, my engine suddenly died while driving approximately 60mph. The restart engine light came on, and I quickly was unsure what was happening as I felt myself slowing down slightly after realizing I had no power and the engine would not restart. I believe it went to neutral automatically. I was in the inside lane, and it was incredibly dangerous due to traffic around me. I could not easily exit to side of road due to the traffic, but luckily a gap formed, and I was able to abruptly get off the road. I have kids in the car daily, and this would have been life threatening had it happen in any other scenario, or especially in a larger city or busier highway. I am confident this is related to gm's issues with the 6. 2 liter engines. I have a 2023 Silverado 1500 zr2 that this happened to. The loss of propulsion is clearly due to the defect in these engines.

11 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2026

Can shaft and lifters failed.

12 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/31/2025

A few times before engine locked up, I was driving and out of no where it would shut off/lose all engine power and woukd shift to n automaticlly. Those 2 times it happend on the highway had to pull over to be able to turn it on again. The 3rd time it was at a busy intersection all 3 times I was with my wife and kids so was very dangerous. 3rd time it never turned on again with a low oil pressure message. Got it towed to the dealership and they told me the engine was locked up. So now at the dealer getting a new engine and radiator ect.

13 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/29/2025

I was notified that my 2023 silverado had an open recall (l87 engine loss of propulsion). I brought the truck to the dealer for the recall on 8/19 with 35,921 miles on the vehicle. The inspection was performed and I was told it passed. When I asked about the extended special coverage they told me they didn't know what I was talking about. Only 4 months and 4,567 miles later, on 12/29, the vehicle shutdown in traffic and was not able to restart. The engine had failed and the starter fuse blew due to the motor being seized. The dealer relaced the engine due to the same recall that the engine had already been inspected and passed the inspection for.

14 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/13/2025

Fuel pump control module failed and vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Cell [xxx] truck engine shut down twice on interstate 10 eastbound in TX at interstate speeds, in heavy traffic causing dangerous threat to my family and I while powerlessly navigating between high speed traffic and 18 wheelers to exit road independent service center?yes and independent. Code read on truck's computer confirmed a failed fuel pump control module the vehicle or component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? there were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

15 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/11/2025

Was crossing an intersection when the truck suddenly and without warning stopped (engine). Unable to shift the truck into neutral in order to move the truck out of the flow of traffic. This is because the truck has the electronic shifter which requires the truck to be running in order to shift. There is not a manual override. So basically the truck was in the middle of an intersection with cars and trucks weaving around it until the tow truck arrived. But since the truck wasn’t able to be shifter into neutral the tow truck had to maneuver around to the front and “drag the truck onto a flat bed in order to clear the vehicle. Also it turns out that there is a major issue with the fuel pump module on these trucks and the tow truck driver said he has seen this happen a lot and very common. As a result these types of issues are likely to result in a near of fatal accident in the near future.

16 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/09/2025

The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact pulled over and turned off the vehicle. The contact restarted the vehicle after twenty minutes and was able to drive normally. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle and shifting to drive(d) or reverse(r), the vehicle failed to move. The contact stated that recently the vehicle stalled, and the check engine warning light was illuminated and was not turning off. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 19,000.

17 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/06/2025

I am writing to formally document a series of catastrophic mechanical failures involving my vehicle, as well as serious inaccuracies currently reflected on the carfax report. At approximately 15,000 miles, my vehicle experienced a catastrophic engine failure that required a full engine replacement. Less than 900 miles after the engine replacement, the vehicle then suffered a catastrophic transmission failure, which also required replacement. In connection with the transmission failure, there was also a fuel module issue that left me stranded. These failures were not minor or routine service events. One breakdown occurred on a major roadway and required the road to be shut down due to the vehicle being disabled. Another breakdown occurred on the florida turnpike as a result of complete engine failure, leaving me stranded in a highly dangerous situation. Despite the severity of these events, the carfax report does not accurately reflect what occurred. The carfax report does not state that the engine was replaced, and the transmission failure is not identified as a transmission replacement at all. Instead, it is reported as routine or normal service, without any indication that a catastrophic transmission failure or replacement occurred. This misrepresentation significantly understates the true condition and mechanical history of the vehicle. Due to the repeated catastrophic failures, the circumstances under which they occurred, and the risk posed to my safety and the safety of my family, I am genuinely afraid to drive this vehicle. I want to ensure that all of this information is properly documented and that the vehicle’s records accurately reflect its true history and condition.

18 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/24/2025

While driving and idling, my 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 high country equipped with the 6. 2l v8 engine began experiencing a persistent audible ticking/clicking noise from the engine bay, rough idle during cold starts, and noticeable/abnormal engine vibration. Shortly after, the check engine light came on. When scanned, diagnostic codes p0304 (cylinder 4 misfire detected) and p050d (cold start rough idle) were retrieved. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized Chevrolet dealership, and the service advisor and technician confirmed hearing a consistent clicking noise and documented that they contacted gm's technical assistance center (tac case #80413912). The service order report states: "due to unknown noise cannot perform recall. Called tac 80413912 and was told need to figure out top end noise and misfire before proceeding with recall. If repairs are related to top end, will not be covered under recall. " the technician indicated this could be related to a camshaft and lifter issue, which matches the symptoms outlined in gm's active propulsion system recall for 6. 2l engines. Suggests gm aware & has not yet confirmed full recall coverage/repairs. This issue presents a significant safety risk because the engine could experience sudden power loss or failure while driving, potentially leading to loss of propulsion or control. These symptoms are identical to those described by gm in their recall documentation concerning valve lifter and camshaft failures. The issue has been reproduced and confirmed by the dealership, and all documentation, diagnostics reports, and service notes are available for inspection upon request. Warning/check-engine lights first appeared in October 2025, and the problem persists. Based on gm's recall acknowledgment of similar failures, I believe this defect should be fully covered under the existing recall, and I am requesting NHTSA's review to ensure manufacturer addresses this safety-related defect promptly and without cost to owners.

19 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2025

Driving at highway speeds, truck downshifted to low gear causing a sudden deceleration and check engine light appeared along with 'service transmission' message. Was almost rear ended by multiple cars, but was able to guide truck to the shoulder through traffic. Shut down truck and restarted with message still appearing although gear shifting seemed to be normal. After stopping at a gas station to look up error, on next restart error cleared and truck drove for almost a week without issue and ~300-400 miles. Once again driving at highway speeds the same scenario happened with downshift in heavy traffic and had to pull to the shoulder. Waiting to bring to dealer, but mileage on truck is just over the 60,000 mi warranty period. Codes on reader indicate p0700 and p0747.

20 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/13/2025

Vehicle vehicle is shuddering while driving at speed limit as well as accelerating. Based on research, it is apparent that there is an issue with the torque converter in this year model of truck. I have found more than 50 individuals online who have dealt with the same issue.

21 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/11/2025

While driving at low speeds with light acceleration, the truck seems to sputter. When activating trailer mode this issue stops leading me to believe there is an issue with the torque converter. By searching forums, this seems to be a known issue with these vehicles. With it being as widespread as it is, I fell like this constitutes some sort of recall or customer satisfaction type of action.

22 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2025

I was driving on the highway doing 75 and the truck started jurking and slowing down by itself and getting loud. The display stated reduce speed and the check engine light came on. .

23 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/04/2025

Engine light keeps returning after dealer visits for oil change. Exhaust heat shield rattles since day one of ownership. During normal commute, when I accelerate reduced power comes on and doesn’t allow me to accelerate much. Engine electrical system, including the charging and starting system. Checked battery, alternator, and starter.

24 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2025

The vehicle has been exhibiting occasional hard shifts over the last 2-3 months. Over the last 2-3 weeks the frequency has increased. While operating the vehicle at approximately 30 mph the rear wheels temporarily locked during one of these events while my wife was operating the vehicle. There was no indication that this was going to happen and no indication after the event. We took the vehicle to the dealership where they performed a diagnostic but found nothing wrong. In the week since picking up the vehicle I have been operating it. I experienced two occasions where upon trying to accelerate at approximately 30 mph there was a severe jolt that caused the traction control warning light to flash. This was under minor acceleration just to maintain speed when going uphill. There was no indication prior to the event and once it had concluded the lights went off. I also experienced an occurrence of the rear wheels locking temporarily. I was traveling at approximately 40 mph on flat ground and gently stepped on the accelerator to maintain my speed in traffic. The rear tires locked for 1-2 seconds to the point the tires were squealing and you could smell burning rubber. There was no indication prior to the event that it was coming. Given my necessary reaction I was unable to see if there were any indicators or warnings present. Following the event there were no indicators illuminated. Outside of these events the vehicle seems to operate normally. It runs well and generally shifts smooth. However, the rear wheels locking up unexpectedly presents an unacceptable hazard that is not resulting in any evidence that the dealer can use to troubleshoot.

25 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2025

Engine coolant valve failure causing vehicle to go into reduced power mode while traveling on highway causing vehicle to travel at a slow unsafe speed in relation to other traffic. Check engine light activated, reduced power activated. Chevrolet dealership confirmed engine coolant control valve issue. Engine control valve must be replaced before vehicle can be driven. Engine coolant control valve is on back order. No part replacement time frame due to back order. Safety concerns with reduced power mode on roadway with speed limits greater than 45 mph.

26 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/06/2025

Vehicle check engine light came on and message displayed on dashboard indicating (loss of power) the transmission fluid temperature rose from 140* to 190* in seconds with vehicle coming to a complete stop while driving when trying to accelerate the vehicle it won't move but the engine rpm's were staying between 3 & 4 when accelerating.

27 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2025

The fuel pump went out, left me stranded and was replaced the transmission went out and was replaced. The lifters in the engine were replaced. When will the engine recall be addressed/acted on? the "cure" to install heavier engine oil is a very bad "bandaid". . . . Truly masks the problem. Maybe the chevy ceo should return her 2024 $25mm bonus to help pay for the repairs.

28 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2025

This truck has a problem where at low speed while turning left the engine surges and the truck speeds to 15 miles an hour unless I jam on the brakes . This started just turning left and now its starting to happen turning right . I had this truck to koons chevolet two or three times for this problem but it still persist to happen. This vehicle is dangerous.

29 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/26/2025

The vehicle shots forward after some delayed acceleration.

30 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/18/2025

Transmission has a stalled while driving car.

31 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2025

I have an 2023 l87 engine that could stop functioning at any moment. I'm retired and bought this vehicle as my last truck. I don't feel safe driving it on long trips which is why I bought it. Also the transmission shifts rough from 1st to 2nd when I accelerate. When I inquired about the transmission problem at the dealership the showed me a letter sized notice saying this might be a problem. But I was not notified about this when I purchased the truck. I would prefer to just return the truck as I have it financed with gm financial with no money down and am willing to just eat what I have already paid to get out of this ticking time bomb which I'm not comfortable driving long distance as [xxx]. Please advise. Thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

32 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2025

While driving 55 mph and towing my boat on a 2 lane paved road , I started up a slight incline and the transmission downshifted so hard that the rear wheels locked up long enough to throw us into the dash even with seat belts on. I turned around an drove back home with it locking up again. No codes or lights on the dash. Took it to dealer June 26,2025 for dealer to diagnose issue. They kept it overnight and drove it about 60 miles, called me the next day to pick it up saying they could not duplicate the rear wheel lockup and since there were no codes there was nothing to fix. Tried to tell me it was my boat trailer causing the issue. Boat trailer has surge brakes, nothing electrical on trailer brakes. Over the next couple days the rear wheels locked up 2 more times. Always as I started up an incline going around 50-55 mph. No lights or codes July 2, 2025 we recorded on video 2 rear wheel lockups with the second lockup starting a slight fishtail on dry pavement and leaving a 5 foot skid mark. Went back to the dealership with the video and they said again if there are no codes they can’t fix it and they would try to duplicate the issue for me to leave the truck and not give me a rental vehicle , and no timeline on how long they would try to duplicate the issue. I did not leave my truck there and they kept promising to call me when they had a loaner vehicle for me to use. On July 14, 2025 ,while still waiting for a loaner vehicle the transmission finally locked up the rear wheels and check engine light came on. My mileage was 43078, it took 1,193 miles to finally throw codes that the dealership would fix. Codes were p0700 and p0747. These are same codes for safety recalls n242454440 and n242454441. Obviously my VIN is not included in the recalls but the dealership should have put the software on my truck the first time I was there on June 27th, the same day they completed the PA. State inspection on my vehicle. I wouldn’t have had to experience this unsafe conditions.

33 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2025

The vehicle is now at the dealer for the second time regarding transmission shifting issues. First visit I was told they can find nothing wrong despite my experiencing transmission slipping, loud clanking on shifting, and severe jolting when shifting. While having a travel trailer hitched to the truck after the first visit, I experienced all the same issues with the addition of transmission overheating warnings on the dashboard and near complete stoppage of the vehicle at highway speed. The same dealer now says the transmission "valve body" is defective and is being ordered. Due to towing a trailer with this truck (much lighter than rated capacity) I have the transmission fluid changed on nearly every oil change. The transmission filter has been changed on the recommendation of my mechanic, strictly due to quantity of fluid changes.

34 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/14/2025

Driving down the city street the vehicle shuttered, the message "reduced acceleration drive with care" message appeared. Engine rpm increased. Transmission unable to change gears. Only park, reverse, drive (seems to be low gear). Then "service transmission now unable to shift soon" message appears. Now waiting on value body replacement parts. This is a known issue with over six month wait for parts across the nation.

35 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2025

Everyone I know that has this trucks has had transmission problems now mine is say selanoid is stuck in transmission but it throws a new code every time same issue.
