The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the tailgate was constantly opening unintendedly. The failure also occurred while the vehicle was parked overnight, causing the battery to drain. Additionally, the contact stated that the rearview camera was inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the tailgate switch and rearview camera had failed due to water intrusion. The dealer replaced the tailgate switch; however, the rearview camera was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.

2 Back Over Prevention problem

Failure Date: 11/16/2024

The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the back-over prevention screen was displaying only two-thirds of the image of the rear of the vehicle. The dealer informed the contact that it was a common failure after a recent software update issued by the manufacturer. The VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and informed the contact that if the failure could not be duplicated, a proper diagnostic test could not be performed. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

3 Back Over Prevention problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2024

The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while operating the vehicle, the auto start/stop feature malfunctioned, and the vehicle turned off at the stop light while attempting to accelerate. During the failure, the instrument cluster shut off and displayed a black screen. Additionally, on one occasion while reversing, the back over prevention camera screen switched to a black screen, and the vehicle shut off. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 18,000.
