Equipment problem #1

Tailgate unlatched while driving and all my items in the trunk fell out without me, knowing about it.

Equipment problem #2

My 2025 chevy Silverado 1500 6. 2l v8 experienced an internal engine failure at approximately 16,500 miles, requiring replacement of the entire long block under the factory powertrain warranty. The authorized Chevrolet dealership diagnosed internal cylinder wall scoring, and the engine could not be repaired. The failed engine should still be available for inspection if requested. About 4,000 miles after my last oil change, while the oil life monitor still showed about 50% remaining, the vehicle repeatedly displayed "engine oil level low" warnings. I checked the oil level with the engine cold, and the dipstick showed the level was normal, so I believed the problem was a faulty oil level sensor. The next day, the warning changed to "add engine oil," and I immediately took the truck to the dealership. The dealership confirmed the issue was not the sensor but internal engine damage caused by cylinder wall scoring, requiring replacement of the entire long block. Fortunately, the engine did not seize while I was driving, and no crash or injury occurred. However, before the failure was diagnosed, the only warning was repeated oil level messages that did not match the actual oil level. There were no abnormal engine noises, knocking, or noticeable loss of power. A driver could reasonably assume it was only a sensor issue and continue driving without realizing the engine had already suffered severe internal damage. If the engine failed while driving, it could create a serious safety hazard. Although gm replaced the engine under warranty, I remain concerned that a vehicle less than 16 months old with only 16,500 miles experienced such a major engine failure. I am also concerned that similar failures could occur after the factory powertrain warranty expires, leaving owners responsible for repairs that other silverado owners have reported can cost approximately $13,000. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate whether similar failures may also affect 2025 6. 2l v8 model.

Equipment problem #3

Soon after purchase, onstar stopped working. Took to dealership and they started onstar module bad. They also started that it may be months or years as part is back ordered for an issue gm has known about since 2024.

Equipment problem #4

While driving down ih10 in boerne, TX on oct 15, 2025, I saw smoke coming into the vehicle from the a/c vents. I immediately pulled over and put it in park, opened the driver door to get out and turned back to my truck to flames shooting out between the rear passenger side of the cab and in front on the bed of the truck. I had a uhaul trailer in tow and immediately unhooked it to get it away from the truck. I returned to my truck to retrieve my phone and proceeded to watch in desbelief as my truck and belongings went up in flames. It was fully engulfed within 30 seconds with no warnings from inside the truck while driving. Took firefighters over two hours to distinguish the flames fully.

Equipment problem #5

A trailer hitch has an sticker stating the tow vehicle maximum trailer rating for the hitch. Owner's manual and towing safety stickers on the driver's side door only state the maximum dead weight for a hitch. . . That is the weight applied if a trailer is attached to the tow vehicle's hitch ball. This sticker give you maximum if a trailer is installed with a weight distribution hitch assembly. On my 2025 silverado, as well on four other silverados I viewed at a dealer, and a few GMC sierras, also viewed at dealers, the sticker is applied; however, impossible to read the specifications supplied by the sticker. I have uploaded two files: one, is the sticker as viewed on a 2016 GMC that is attached to the bottom of the hitch, easy to read and obtain the safety information contained. Second photo is how the sticker is attached to my 2025 silverado (and as noted on all other vehicles I viewed at dealerships) and as you can see, the specifications are not readable. I even tried a mirror and not enough room for the mirror to fit and allow viewing of the stats. The information on this sticker is required to safely pull a trailer with a weight distribution style hitch assembly. And to require a sticker, but not make as requirement it needs to be legible is ludicrous. Thanks.

Equipment problem #6

No owners manual installed.

Equipment problem #7

Turn signal sound intermittently fails along with all sound to the radio, phone, warning sounds, all audio feedback fails. Gm is aware and does not have a fix.

Equipment problem #8

While putting bottom seat cover on my new truck in the back seat, I pushed the seat cover under the back rest and hit a very sharp piece of metal and cut my finger. I wrapped my finger up and continued the install. On the other side of the truck I hit another sharp piece of metal behind the back rest and cut another finger. No medical treatment was required. I dont know if the metal is part of the seat bracket or what, I cannot see it.
