I have had my vehicle to a gm dealership three times now due to the check engine light coming on and getting an emission warning. 2/13/26 was the first visit. It was right after I filled up my tank with gas that the check engine light came on when I started driving down the road. I got an appointment at a gm dealership. They put the scanner on it and received the codes. They drove it back to the service garage and I went back to work. I received information from them that they could not fix anything because the check engine light had disappeared and there were no codes available anymore. I picked up my vehicle and a week later 2/20/26 the same thing happened after I got gas. The check engine light came on and an emission warning on my chevy app. I stopped back into the same dealership. And the same thing happened. Scanner, codes, and then they disappeared. The third time I got gas the same thing happened again with the check engine light and emission system warning. This was on 2/28/2026. I went to a different dealership and the exact same thing happened. . . . . Scanner, codes received, schedule an appointment to get it in the following week, started the vehicle and pulled out. The check engine light was still on at that time. And the check engine light disappeared once again as I was driving down the road. Each time this has happened I have been able to use my remote start via my chevy app along with trying to use my handheld key fob remote start. The dealerships have told me this is normal for this type of check engine light emission warning. When researching this issue there are a lot of people experiencing the same thing. Scratching my head wondering why there's not a recall on this.
Prior to this incident, I had been having issues with my fuel management system give a “reduced acceleration” warning (codes p0087, p228b) in weather below 28-30f. It was in the shop 3 times prior: first time was “bad fuel”, second had my fuel rail and fuel filter replaced, and third time I had my high pressure fuel pump replaced (also had a rear crank seal leak). While approaching a stop sign, my vehicle gave me a check engine light with a “reduced acceleration” warning followed by several other warning messages and then ultimately lost power and shut off give me no ability to steer or brake my vehicle. Luckily, my vehicle came to stop and no crash or injuries occurred. If this had been at higher speeds the outcome could have been fatal to myself or another driver/passenger on the road. This incident also gave me a p0087, p12a6, p228a, and p228b error codes. I was able to restart the vehicle and make it home. The following day, the “reduced acceleration” message once again appeared. The vehicle is currently at the dealer awaiting diagnosis and repair.
Driving south on i95 under normal condition. After driving for about a hour truck started smoking under the hood. I pulled over and turned off vehicle. I released the latch to open hood. When I got out of the vehicle to lift the hood there were flames coming from both sides of the hood. I did not lift the hood. I moved away from the vehicle and called 911. Police and fire department responded and extinguished the fire. Vehicle was a total loss. Gm indicates they will not investigate the cause and I should work through my insurance company for compensation.
Engine failure.
Purchased new and after 3 weeks (about 600 miles) I was on highway between 60-70 mph truck started to shutter like it was losing power and would not accelerate. I complained to the sales person and he stated it ran a little rough when purchased first day - I was told it just needs to warm up. Took truck to dealer and they determined at this time it was a misfire and lifter bank issue. There seems to be an issue widespread - I am not comfortable with car and if on the highway I am not able to accelerate properly or becomes unreliable at the time to accelerate I am worried about safety.
Issues with def system. Fuel and def tank is filled up. Within 100 miles of towing the def system states def is empty and speed will be limited within 500 miles. At the time the message appears on screen, fuel mileage goes from 13ish mpg to 8 mpg. Try to add def and only able to add close to a gallon of def. System has a hard time recalculating the amount of def in system.
