Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Chevrolet Silverado 1500 based on all problems reported for the Silverado 1500.
The rear seat in the crew cab version seats 3 across but has one 2 head rests. The 2 head rests that are there, are entirely too short to provide any protection. Since this is a crew cab with seating for 3 in the rear, there should be proper head protection for each passenger. The top of the rear head rest is only 28" from the seat bottom. Way too short for most passengers.

Truck is a 6 passenger vehicle the front seat can seat 3. My 13 year old grand daughter flipped up the middle console to sit in the middle position. The plastic cup holder broke off the console and flew into the back seat. We were stopped the side of the street in front of grand sons home loading up 6 passengers when this happened. Myself, wife, grandson, his wife, 12 year old grand daughter and 2 year old great grand daughter. We had buckled up my great grand daughter in the back seat in her car seat when this console broke off and fell on the back seat. This is a crew cab vehicle and the console is made of plastic and weighs 2. 2 pounds and what would this do flying backwards in an accident.
The rear seat head rests on the 2014 chevy silverado z71 double cab 1500 trucks do not provide protection. They do extend up some but not only do they not stay in place when extended up, they also do not extend up high enough for even a 5' 8" persons head. The rest still allows the passengers head to hit the rear window. When one rests their head back the rest easily goes down and does not lock in place. Rear impacts would definitly result in a head injury. Others on various Chevrolet online forums have noticed the problem and will not let adults ride in the rear double cab area of the truck. I can send you a video of this problem if you like. Email: muttomaki@yahoo. Com.
I purchased the 2014 Silverado 1500 while it was raining. Test drive was fine, but the sales person already had the vehicle running with the defroster and wipers on. Drove home (2 miles) and parked. Turned on the fan knob ( standard with a/c model) and the a/c turned on, this occurred nearly every time I turned it on and asked the dealer service center about it. I was told I am probably hitting it with my knuckles. I since tried only while pinching the knob to avoid this and the a/c still nearly turns on every time. Also when the truck sits a while the first start is a hard one but after running and warmed up it will be fine to start. Not sure if the truck battery needs a charge after sitting on the lot, I could also smell a rubber burning odor outside and through the vents, thought it was because it was new but then I seen there was a recall 3 days prior. When I tried anchoring my sons child seat I found no seat anchors in the center rear seat and only the ends. I worry about his seat near the door if there is a side crash. Lastly, why isn't there rear sensors at a minimum a mandatory on trucks yet. Cameras can still be offered as a option but sensors should be mandatory!.
Was not driving vehicle at time, simply getting something out of back seat, next morning, seat would not lock into place due to white plastic part in seat track of 1999 Chevrolet silverado which prevents sliding back and forth has broken. I have already replaced this seat track once before, since the plastic part itself is not available for purchase. The first time it broke, I was braking and nearly had an accident. Replacement was $250 from dealer, entire seat track has to be replaced.

The contact was vehicle shopping for a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While at the dealer, the contact noticed that the rear seat headrest was unable to be adjusted properly and provided insufficient support for anyone over 5'8. The contact believes that the failure could lead to whiplash injuries in the event of a crash. He stated that with previous models, the headrest could be adjusted according to his height; however, newer models no longer have that option. The VIN and mileage information were unknown since the contact did not own the vehicle. Remailed 07/01/08. Updated 09/24/08 updated 10/01/08.
Driver's side seat welds that hold the seat on the frame/body broke causing noticeable creaking and grinding noises with slight movement when coming to stops or accelerating. This is an '07 Silverado 1500 classic work truck. I have read of similar cases at other web sites. Dealership is currently fixing the problem but, tried to put off the repair for a second time as though they did not want to do it.
