1 Seats problem of the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 04/19/2024

I dropped an ink pen between the drivers seat and the center fold down seat. While attempting to retrieve the pen I reached between the drivers seat and the console just forward of the seatbelt connector with my right hand. When I pulled my hand out a sharp piece of metal on the seat frame sliced the fatty portion of my hand below the thumb. There isn’t a guard to protect the hand in the event one reaches between the seat to retrieve an object. I also found the same sharp piece present on the passenger side seat between the seat and the center console. I took the vehicle to my local dealer and the service manager also noted the sharp portion of the seat. He too, sliced his finger while reaching between the seat and the console. I did warn him beforehand as to what could happen. He suggested the vehicle be brought in for service. This is not a functional issue. This is a design, material flaw issue which has the potential to created injury.

2 Seats problem of the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 12/28/2023

Several times mi wife and I have been close to provoking an accident due to the driver seat not been able to go up for my wife to see well over the dash nor will it go down for me to see the gages well. My wife has been stretching to look over creating neck and back pain and I have lowered my head down taking my eyes out of the road close to provoke accident several times.

3 Seats problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 12/19/2023

Powertrain failed and vehicle would no longer move. Engine would rev up, but truck would not move in any direction, almost like the transmission had gone into neutral. Powered the vehicle off, then back on, and it violently jerked, but was enough for me to get to the shoulder. Afterwards, got the vehicle checked out with a scanner, there were no check engine codes coming up, nor were there any lights on the dash. When they checked the transmission oil, there was a lot of metal flakes, which will require a transmission change. Eletric seats also do not allow any movement, making it very difficult when others try to drive the truck.

6 Seats problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 10/25/2021

My driver’s seat started moving slightly then by the end of the day it was rocking back and forth at least 2 inches. The dealer said it’s not under warranty and it would be $1,200 to repair it. I had it welded but the weld didn’t hold. I am afraid this is a big safety hazard and should be covered especially since the truck is only 5 years old. I only weigh 200 lbs and I am the only one who’s ever driven the truck. There is no reason the seat should be broken.

7 Seats problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 08/16/2021

Have been experiencing a disconcerting side to side driver seat movement when navigating corners. Had truck looked at as there have been numerous online posted issues with this issue. Upon inspection, was told the seat frame was broken at a weld point and seat would need to be replaced. Also told they have replaced "many" broken seat frames for the year and model of my silverado. Note, this truck has only 16,000 miles on it and is maintained like new.

8 Seats problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 07/04/2021

The drivers seat moves while turning. It feels like the seat is sliding when turning then there is a "catch" and a sudden stop in movement. While driving and making a turn the feeling the seat will come unbolted from the floor is a unnerving feeling to say the least.

9 Seats problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

10 Seats problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 08/14/2020

The seat shifts during a right and/or left turn. I was told at the dealership, this was a problem, however there has not been a recall. I jerk with the seat during the turns. I am afraid that if I have an accident or the truck rolls over in an accident the seat will not be secure and may crush me or the driver.

11 Seats problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 03/09/2020

Ok so I took my truck in for the brake recall which nothing was wrong with it but now when engaging brakes vehicle won't stop brake peddle goes to the floor then brake light stabilizer light there's one more light that comes on can't seem to remember so I have no idea what they did to my truck but I would really appreciate it if chevy could fix it at no charge being that nothing was wrong in the first place and now after they touched my truck my brakes is fucked up peddle shakes like crazy when slowing down.

12 Seats problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 03/06/2020

I was driving and the brake strength went extremely low. I took it to the auto shop and they said the brake vacuum pump went had. Also, the driver side seat has a rock to it when your weight is shifted sometimes.

13 Seats problem of the 1998 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 09/15/2019

While adjusting my position in the driver seat after entering the truck I felt the back of the seat on the right side give way. It is not bent, the seat frame is broken or has come loose inside. The seat leans to the right putting me in an award and unsafe position. I only drive it when I have no other choice. I am 6'1" 214 lbs. Seat is otherwise in good condition.

20 Seats problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 09/01/2018

The drivers seat makes a lateral movement and/or clicking noise. The seat is not stable and can cause a loss of control of the vehicle because of the seat movement when driving. Gm is completely aware of the problem. The problem exists on 2014, 2015, 2016 silverado's and on other gm vehicles. Gm will repair the problem if the owner notices it during the 36 month/36000 miles but is refusing to repair it after that. Gm has supposedly corrected the problem in 2017 and newer vehicles. Service bulletin #18-na-377 dated Dec 17, 2018 document id # 5185379 applies. This movement and noise occurs while driving especially while turning and is completely distracting. This defect in the front seat mechanism allows for safety concerns that the seat can become dislodged especially during an accident. Gm has refused to repair and correct this defect that they have known about for years.

21 Seats problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 08/16/2018

When driving (sitting in drivers seat), when you go around a corner you can feel the seat moving. It seems tight when you get out and try moving it but when driving and turning corners you can feel the seat move sliding side to side. Talked with dealership on problem, they claim it needs a shim kit. But they want to charge to diagnose what I deem to be a safety problem. At some point the seat may come completely free.

22 Seats problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 03/28/2018

Heated seats working to mfg specs per dealer but no heat can be felt. Dealership says they hear this complaint from many and that it is a poor design on the part of the mfg. I looked on social media & message boards to find this issue is a common complaint. Chevy says there is no issue because seats are working to specs, won't give any info for who else to contact at chevy to address this widespread common complaint. Chevy rep says they will need to be compelled by federal gov to issue any recall and will not voluntarily address it even if it is determined to be a poor design. Consumers paid for heated seats that due to a poor design, do not get hot, and Chevrolet is refusing to address the issue. Based upon social media & message boards online, the complaint seems to be specific to the heated & air conditioned leather bucket seats in the 2014 & 2015 silverado and likely GMC sierra as well. Chevy apparently knows about the issue and possibly redesigned the seats for the 16 and newer models as there are few complaints that I could find for those model years. It seems to be limited to 2 model years and one type of seat. Please investigate this and contact the appropriate contacts at Chevrolet to compel them to address this issue and give their customers the feature they paid for, heated seats that actually get warm. Mine stay cool to the touch on my 30 mile, 45 minute drive to work despite being told that they are working to mfg spec. I have heated seats in both my camaro & impala that heat up nicely in just a few seconds and that is what I expect in my newer, twice as expensive, silverado high country. Please compel them to issue a recall or monetary settlement to reimburse for a feature that does not perform the task advertised.

23 Seats problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 02/27/2018

24 Seats problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 02/16/2018

While driving or stationary, when pressure is applied to the drivers side seat back it instantly goes to the fully reclined position! something internal to the seat back adjuster lets loose/malfunctions. Two times now while I'm driving I lean back to take something out of my pocket and the seat goes fully reclined. The natural instinct is to pull on the steering wheel to keep from falling backwards, and this causes the truck to swerve. Very dangerous!!!!!.

25 Seats problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 11/01/2017

Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle the the front driver and passenger side seats would move and rock when making a turn in either direction. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer(ray skillman Chevrolet(3891 south post rd, indianapolis, id) who replaced a part(unknown) and the failure was remedied. Approximately 1 year later the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 50,000. Jft.

26 Seats problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 11/01/2017

Tl the contact owns a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving approximately 70 mph, the driver's seat slid on the track and caused the contact to bump into the steering wheel and dashboard area with force. An unknown dealer diagnosed that the seat rail needed to be replaced due to the plastic seat holders fracturing under the driver's seat. The manufacturer was not notified. The VIN and failure mileage were not available.

27 Seats problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 09/04/2017

It seems that my vehicle is leaking somewhere around either the sunroof or the xm antenna. I already had the leak around the third brake light which not only filled the lens up with water and kept blowing bulbs for my third brake light fixed. But from the research I've done it seems that a lot of different year and models of the silverado have been doing so. But some how when it rains or I wash my truck or go thru a car wash I get water dripping from my headliner onto my heated seats, down behind my dash and water puddling up into my floorboard, on the drivers side. When the third brake light was leaking my whole rear floorboard would be completely soaked. The condensation on my windows would make it hard to drive and be able to see thru the windshield, the water dripping on me while driving was a distraction also and if I turned on my heated seats I sometimes would feel electrical shocks in my butt, and the fact that I have mold growing on top of my headliner and in my carpet makes my truck smell and I'm sure breathing the mold in isn't health for me or my 10 year old son. I took the truck to the local chevy place and they won't fix it due to it having over 36,000 miles yet I have the extended warranty which doesn't cover this, my insurance company doesn't cover it either.

28 Seats problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 06/01/2017

The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving various speeds, the front driver side seat metal frame detached. The contact coasted to the side of the road and then continued driving. The vehicle was taken to a post repair shop and the seat frame was welded. The seat was repaired. In addition, the contact was concerned for his safety because the seat belt was attached to the frame. The contact called pine belt Chevrolet dealer and the manufacturer who stated that there was no replacement part. The approximate failure mileage was 218,000.

29 Seats problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 05/12/2017

The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the driver seat track was fractured and bent. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the seat track was fractured and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but did not offer any assistance. The representative acknowledged that it was a safety issue and stated that Chevrolet would not issue a recall until forced by NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

30 Seats problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 02/16/2017

The silverado dash melts and cracks. On their site there is a statement that the cracks can break loose and cause injuries but the recall was discontinued. The passenger seat leaks fuel and they refused to correct that. Vehicles are very noisy, we have to talk loud or turn the radio up to hear. I motion and stationary. Purchased new in 2012. These are known issues and the dealer and the company's headquarters stated they are known issues but there are not any recalls and would not replace or give any discount in fixing the defects. I have talked to the headquarters down to the local dealers and no resolution.

31 Seats problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 02/02/2017

The contact owns a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Upon entering the driver side of the vehicle and sitting down, the seat moved and failed to lock in place. The dealer stated that the part was no longer available to repair the seat. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 195,000.

32 Seats problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 01/18/2017

Waited 12 years to afford a new truck and were stuck with this lemon. 14 active recalls paid over $1k for repair work not covered by warranty had the vehicle one year (2015) had to have the seats repaired. Air bag issues and the dealer said it wasn't covered either. As of today I have spent almost $3k on this truck for something that you wouldn't think a new truck would have to repair. The rear end went out at christmas (2016) really. Come on chevy you've gotta do better than this. Offer is something for our troubles. Will not buy or recommend a chevy product.

33 Seats problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 12/15/2016

I was involved in a hit and run accident (I was stationary at the time at a dry, mutli-turn lane light) Nov 15, 2016. After collision repairs to the visible damage to the vehicle, I found that the driver's side seat would not recline. Dealership worked on it and claimed to have fixed it. After the first attempt, it reclined but would not lock into place on the right side. Returned to dealership and required metal seat back frame replacement to fix the failure. Dealership couldn't or wouldn't identify this as a problem that resulted from the accident. Insurance would not cover the damage as the direct hit to the truck was on the right side, opposite the driver's side seat. The vehicle is only 2 years old and as I have never had a seat failure of this type and have owned other new chevy trucks similar to this one I am concerned that this is could be a faulty production run of the seat back frame. The passenger side seat did not experience problems after the accident. I'm now concerned that there may be other hidden critical failure items that may have been the result of the accident or could possibly be an installed factory failure. I don't have photos but I do have the old seat back frame in my possession if needed.

34 Seats problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 09/14/2016

1. Driver's seat reclining mechanism jammed and stopped working. Had to have seat back frame assembly replaced just after warranty. 2. Six speed transmission generally works good most of the time. On occasions (about 50 so far) when backing out of a space and shifting gear from reverse to drive, the transmission does not shift, there is a 2-3 second delay before it shifts and jumps into gear with a clunk. This causes problems when you are backing out into traffic in parking lot, onto a street, or making a 3-point turn and the transmission does not shift when you anticipate it should and you are stuck there for the delay. This could cause a crash. Took to dealer under warranty, they could not reproduce problem. Date at bottom is a guess. Have to check dealer records at home.

35 Seats problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 08/06/2016

Driver seat is not anchored securely. It moves at times such as when turning. Some models of this same year truck is on the recall list for this same problem, but I was told mine is not included. It looks like maybe more of the 2014's needs to be recalled, I know this one does.
