The seat of my truck is loose. There is a service advisory the dealers have in their system which is #pit5223: front driver or passenger seat cover / cushion loose. . . . . . A friend of mine purchased a 2015 GMC sierra (which is the same truck) and he is having the problem with 2000 miles on it. . . . . He to just picked his truck up from the dealer and on the way home the seat was doing the same thing. . Read more...

46 Seats problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 07/01/2014

Purchased my 2014 chevy silverado at the end of June 2014 and by July 2014 while traveling to work my truck experience a severe vibration that shooked my entire interior and especially my center console. Took my truck to two local dealerships and they say my truck drives and handles normally. After reading other complaints by other owners, I decided to write my own complaint. Chevy corporation needs to investigate this matter before any tragic incident happe ns like the ignition switch recall that innocent people died and now they are paying mega bucks. Also requesting other owners to file a complaint so other truck buyers will stay away from Chevrolet automobiles entirely. My next purchase will probably a foreign because I am having to many problems and nothing is getting done. Thanks alot chevy, from soon to be ex-Chevrolet owner.

47 Seats problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 07/01/2014

Purchased a new 2014 chevy silverado in June and after drving a few hundred miles, I noticed the drivers seat was not very comfortable on long trips. Soon after a noise was coming from under seat. Dealer replaced seat track but was not installed properly and my seat cushion came unattached. Dealer attempted to fix the problem but noise is still apparent. I have read other complaints about seats being uncomfortable and I can confirm. Why is Chevrolet putting out this type of vehicles and expect people to buy. If you are reading this do not buy a Chevrolet/GMC truck. Save your money!!!!!.

50 Seats problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 02/05/2014

While driving in 4wd 'auto', off pavement in waterfront area, I did not think 4wd was engaging. When I shifted to 4h, the seat immediately clam shelled in and down on me. I reset seat, and noticed mirrors also had moved. A few minutes latter I tried the same maneuver while moving <5 mph, with the same results. I drove the 20+ miles back home in 4auto, but ready for a surprise shift into 4wd, with the accompanying, dangerous seat position change. It occurred 1 more time, while driving slowly approaching my driveway. I tried to duplicated it a few more times during a 2 week period; no occurrences. The sales people told me to use 4auto as my regualr mode. I decided to try 2h. Now when I go from 2h to 4auto, the seat moves backward in short jolts. Going to 4h or 4l, as directed in the manual, a clam shell effect occurs. I have done it with others in my truck, so they can witness the seat try to devour me. The last time it happened, I left it in the driveway with the seat & mirrors in their final position, so others could get in and see if they thought they could drive in that position. I have not set the set memory, and was very careful to not touch anything but the 4wd control while changing drive modes. As an aside, I noticed others owners had complaints about the seats. My 'safety alert' seat, 'heated and cooled (perforated)', 'front full feature', 'leather appointed buckets' developed a small tear in the lower, middle portion of the seat. I wanted it replaced, and of course, the friendly dealership staff tried to say this was 'normal wear and tear'. This was at less than 500 miles, 350 of which the dealership put on while driving it from another dealer. This truck is used for pleasure only, not work, no tool pouches or in pockets. . . If it wasn't such a bad example of how customers are treated by some dealerships, it would be laughable. Current millage: 1,711 mi.

54 Seats problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 05/26/2013

The leather driver seat developed a small tear from limited wear and tear. Being out of warranty, I have to bear the cost of poor quality workmanship on a vehicle that is $47,000. I have done everything possible to avoid it tearing further, but entering and exiting the vehicle strains the tear area and it slowly gets worse.

57 Seats problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 01/05/2012

I am the original owner and the vehicle has not been in an accident. I own a 1999 Chevrolet silverado lt (new body style) model with 6-way power leather bucket seats. Over the last 4-5 years, beginning with the driver's seat, slop in the seat movement has crept in to a point where now both driver and passenger seats exhibit an approximate 1 inch movement when either stopping or taking off. If this seat is moved completely forward or backward via the control knob, the movement is eliminated, but I cannot drive in either of these positions. Tightening the bolts that secure the seat to the frame does not resolve the issue. The bolts were not loose. Pulled the seats for further investigation and it appears to be bearing wear. This is the bearing that the worm gear mechanism rides through. With the seats removed and centered between fully forward and fully back, I can move the seat by hand and witness the slop. My driver's seat is never adjusted as it is adjusted for me only so I believe the take off and stop over the years must have placed enough pressure on the bearing(s) to wear them to a point that they no longer hold the seat in place. I confirmed my findings with a firestone technician who has been sending these seats out for bearing replacements for many of his customers. I am very concerned about a severe safety issue and that there will be a point where the mechanism will fail and my seat will move significantly forward or backwards when either taking off or stopping causing an accident. Browsing the internet shows many individuals with the exact same issue warranting a safety recall from gm.

58 Seats problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 11/26/2011

While approaching a stop sign, me driver seat slid forward as I slowed. The locking device, a small plastic device, had broken under the seat. This allowed the seat to slide forward and backward. I had to wedge a piece of wood plank between the seat and the firewall in order to get my vehicle home.

59 Seats problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 07/08/2011

The seat latch on my 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 broke allowing the seat to move freely. My 16 year old son was driving at the time and nearly had an accident because of it. The exact same condition occurred when the truck was nearly new (I am the original owner). The dealer fixed the seat adjuster the first time. This is a very dangerous defect. The replacement parts must be more robust. After reading all of the incidents of the same problems online, I cannot believe thaere has not been a recall. Are you waiting for a fatality?.

63 Seats problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 11/02/2009

I own 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 crew cab work truck (new body style) which I purchased new in sept. 2007. On approximately November 2, 2009 while entering my vehicle, the plastic lumbar support broke as I was sitting down in the driver seat. Thus forcing my body weight to push the foam and plastic cover out of the back portion of the seat frame. I then removed the remaining attached seat back to locate the problem. I found that there are four thin, pivoting plastic arms that flex when the manual knob is turned for adjustment. These arms are holding the plastic lumbar support in place along with four thin aluminum rods. In the event of a rear end impact, this defect could cause serious spinal and/or neck injury. Please note, that I am a state law enforcement officer and that I feel this situation be thoroughly investigated. This incident was reported to the dealer and no further action nor interest was demonstrated by the dealer or gm. Replacement part was quoted at approximately $120. 00 + labor. Thank you.

64 Seats problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 10/11/2009

Sunday, October 11, 2009 I pulled the manual release lever to release the driver's side seat and load material into the extended cab of my pickup. A plastic piece with metal components inside the track (quoted from dealer as a seat adjuster) fell out of the right side track. My driver's side seat would not and continues not to lock into place, causing me to have to drive with one foot on the floorboard, and use the other to accelerate and brake continuously. When driven, the seat freely moves forward and backward with centrifugal force. Note: the seatbelt is attached to the seat completely, not anchored to the sidewall and floor of the vehicle, so there is nothing to keep a driver from sliding all the way to the steering wheel if and when this piece fails. I immediately stopped driving the unsafe vehicle, and transported it to a local Chevrolet dealership, fivestar, in aberdeen, wa. The dealership called today, October 13, 2009, with an estimated cost of just over $800. 00. Dealer said that both tracks need replacing, because neither one is locking. Estimated cost $250. 00 per track, plus the labor and taxes. I have ordered this work to be done.

66 Seats problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 01/25/2009

The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving between 50-60 mph on normal road conditions, the contact was smoking a cigar and disposed the ashes out of the driver's side window. Suddenly, he smelled a burning odor. He observed that the hot ashes had fallen onto the bottom cushion of the driver's seat. The foam seat cushioning began to smolder, but no flames appeared. Immediately, the seat cushion was extinguished with liquid. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, but they could not assist with the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the hazards of the seat cushion not being flame and smoldered-resistant. The soiled seat cushion has not been repaired. 68 Seats problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 11/01/2008

Both driver and passenger seats slide back and forth depending on whether I am accelerating or braking. This movement of the seat affects the pressure that my foot puts on the brakes and accelerator and often causes me to stop faster than intended (which could cause a driver behind me to crash into my truck).

The latch mechanism for the drivers side seat adjustment failed, allowing the seat to slide front to back. The failure occurred when the seat was being moved forward to place items behind the seat. Plastic pieces fell out onto the floor. It appeared to be a plastic piece that held the locking pin for the seat. The temperature that day had been between 20 and 30 degrees f.
