The drivers side seat belt has detached from the anchor on the seat. The cable has pulled out of the crimp on the belt portion of the seat belt / shoulder harness assembly. I have not contacted the dealer about this issue. There was a recall for "certain" silverado about this condition but my vehicle is not showing up on the gm website as being inlcuded.

On January 28, 2023, my Chevrolet silverado was involved in a significant multi-impact collision. At the time of the accident, I was a front-seat passenger and my vehicle was fully stopped when it was struck from behind at high speed by a Dodge 2500. The force of the rear impact pushed my truck into the vehicle in front of us, resulting in a secondary front-end collision. This sequence occurred twice. During the collision, the front passenger-side airbag did not deploy, and the front passenger seatbelt failed to lock. As a result, I was thrown violently within the passenger side of the vehicle and struck my head on the dashboard. In contrast, the driver’s seatbelt locked properly, as did the rear seatbelt where my child was seated. Due to the failure of the passenger-side seatbelt to lock, I sustained a severe concussion, a black eye, and other injuries. The vehicle was subsequently inspected by my insurance company. When sheriff’s deputies and state police arrived at the scene, they expressed concern and surprise that the passenger seatbelt did not lock and that no airbags deployed despite the severity of the collision. Shortly after the accident, I contacted GMC regarding these safety concerns. GMC retrieved the vehicle’s crash data recorder (cdr) and conducted an investigation. I was later informed that GMC found no defects or issues with their products. Nearly three years have passed since the accident, and I remain deeply concerned and dissatisfied with GMC’s conclusion. The passenger-side seatbelt did not function as designed, while the driver and rear seatbelts did, and no airbags deployed. I do not believe adequate accountability or explanation was provided regarding the apparent failure of the passenger-side restraint system. Given the force of the impact, I could have been ejected through the windshield.

At approximately 42k miles my 2020 silverado started flashing a very frequent “service safety restraint system” warning light and beeping (either constant or every 10-15 minutes). Immediately contacted a Chevrolet dealer to have it corrected. They have assured me that the repair is simple, will cost me $602 to replace a few steering wheel component parts to get the clock spring working correctly. They assured me they knew the issue would be resolved since their tech has “seen this a lot” but it took them all day to diagnose, and said since I was just past my bumper to bumper warranty it was not covered. That I could pay the diagnosis fee and take it home if I wanted. Since when is a faulty safety restraint system “fine” to drive? of course I immediately authorized the out of pocket repair to be safe, but I am surprised and alarmed that chevy would allow them to return an unsafe vehicle to a customer and tell them it’s “fine” rather than put them in a loaner vehicle or report the issue, since there are thousands of similar complaints for these silverado’s. Truck is currently in the shop, on my dime and I am terrified that this will end up costing me more than $602.

I was involved in a 3 car accident where I was stopped and rear ended into another vehicle in front of me. My car experienced severe damage which led to multiple minor injuries and a concussion because the airbags were not deployed. Because they were not deployed, I aggressively hit my head on the steering wheel and dash area of my vehicle. I had my seatbelt own but because of the airbag not deploying, I experienced multiple injuries. The vehicle that rear ended me was going 40-50 mph when they collided and pushed me into the truck stopped in front of me. I did receive an alert right when this happened from my application on my phone stating “issue with airbag system. Schedule service now” meaning that the airbag was not able to deploy when it was supposed to do so. The police, ambulance staff and witnesses all did not understand why the airbags did not deploy considering how hard the collision was. As a result of the airbag not deploying both my wife and I have injuries to our head and neck and and multiple areas of our body.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that after sitting in the vehicle, it was discovered that the front driver’s side seat belt had detached from the seat and could no longer secure the driver while seated. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA recall campaign 21v245000 (seat belts). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 75,000.

So on a cold start, my pickup was running extremely ruff. I shut it off and restarted it. Mind you the engine light is on now it seems to run better. So I go to work and encounter the same problem at the end of the day. I have it hooked up to the diagnostics machine and get p050d code as well as one more code (don't remember that one). This is a malfunction with the fuel injectors and the fuel supply. To much or to little can happen when ever. My mechanic tells me gm has a special service bulletins on this very problem. (n182198000). This is only for 13 states and certain VIN#s. So I call the dealership and they tell me that some 350,000 vehicles have been recalled. They gave them 10 years or 150,000 miles. Now everyone else that encounters the same safety issues to bad sorry for your luck, not their problem is what I was told. This is for 2016 and 2017 5. 3 and 6. 2 engines. To top if off when I talked with the gm representative for my area she advised me to report it here. Not to concerned about the product that they sold. Mind you not previous recalls where for seatbelts but only the front seats??? I still believe they should of replaced the rear seatbelts. They don't retract as they should and I'm struggling to find my ones.
Driver side seatbelt metal cable connecting the seatbelt to the underside of the seat severed completely.

The seatbelts and airbags did not engage when vehicle was involved in serious accident. Seatbelts we’re on but did not lock up and airbags never deployed. Vehicle is in a body shop in mexico. Serious spinal and hip injury made worse due to these components mail functioning. Vehicle is still in mexico while insurance company drags their feet so they don’t have to pay. Vehicle has only been towed and not examined while it just sits there waiting for insurance company to do something. There was a police report made and I’m unaware if insurance folks have looked at vehicle as they won’t talk to us. There were no warning systems prior to incident. Why would a person even think their seatbelts and airbags weren’t going to work??.
Seat belt anchor broke replaced under warranty but replaced with same defective parts and broke again. Dealer refused to repair without payment of $160. 00. Fan belt for air pump brakes you have no brakes to stop truck. A/c condenser defective from factory leaks at seams burns out compressor. Gm refuses to recall and dealer charges $1800. 00 to repair. I've repaired all these problems on my own except for seat belt anchor.
In January 2022 the drivers seat belt latch broke in my silverado. The seat belt would not engage into the latch, there was an internal part of the latch that broke and prevented the seat belt from engaging. Obviously this is a safety issue in addition to my state having mandatory seat belt laws so I was unable to drive my vehicle. I contacted general motors customer service who said the defect was not covered under any warranty. I took the vehicle to the dealer I purchased the truck from and had the repair made. It cost $316. 97 for the dealer to replace the driver side seat belt latch. I followed up with general motors to see if the part had ben recalled or if they would pay for the repair to this integral part of the truck's supplemental restraint system. General motors sent me a check for $16. 97 which they said was a prorated amount towards the amount I paid to have the seat belt repaired. While there is no official recall of this part currently, there are many public forums where silverado owners have complained about this part of the supplemental restraint system failing. In my opinion a seat belt system should never fail, especially on a truck as new as mine and with such low mileage. My truck was purchased new, has been garage kept and has never been involved in any accident. The truck only had 44,400 miles on it at the time of the repair. I find it hard to believe that general motors would not cover the repair under the terms of the supplemental restraint warranty.
Was involved in a t-bone intersection accident. The upper seatbelt tensioner on the passenger side of the my vehicle did not engage and and caused my passenger to strike the dash resulting in a badly broken arm (pins and plates to repair). The vehicle was a total loss was last located at the usaa lot in yorktown virginia. This information was relayed to the insurance company not sure what steps they have taken. There were no warning lights or know issues with the belt prior to the accident.
Every so ofter I get an audible and visual alert telling me to service seat safety restraint system as well as the airbag light on the dashboard. This lastest incident is probably the 8th time it has happened since ive brought the truck new.

I was buckling my seatbelt and the cable connecting the lap belt end to the seat base broke. The failure was at the top end of the cable where the cable is swedged into a bracket. From my inspection of the cable, it looked like a fatigue type failure of the cable at the point the flexure was stopped by the end connection.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? driver side seat belt tongue an buckle. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? many drivers will continue long travels home or to a dealer rather than contact a tow truck. A decision that can risk their lives. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? no has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? no were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no I meet with solid mechanical resistance when I attempt to insert my driver side seat belt tongue into it's buckle. I can not detect any foreign object that would prevent the seat belt from latching. Now I cannot legally drive my vehicle in the state of illinois without a secure seat belt. I plan to call my local dealer in the morning.
Returning from vacation on oct. 31 when a explosion in the cab like a shotgun occurred with smoke on the side of both front seats. Emergency lights & onstar activated. Pulled over to side of road to checked out truck and found front seat belts locked but everything else ok. The service air bags light was on prior to incident. Was traveling about 45 mph on good road. Scared my wife so bad had she been driving could have caused a wreck. Vehicle is scheduled to be looked at by champion Chevrolet in reno nevada on 11/11/2021. Have read that this has happened with other 2007 chevy silverado’s and about the same mileage 69,000. Can’t find any recall for the problem but believe it could cause a death under the right conditions like if happened in heavy traffic. It shakes you up for awhile. If this has been reported before why hasn’t a recall been issued? hope this report helps prevent any serious future incidents.
The stitching in the loop attaching the front center lap seat belt to the vehicle failed causing the seat belt to detach and become unusable. If this had not been discovered and the vehicle were in an accident with the front center lap seat belt in use, the seat belt would not have provided any protection to the occupant and could have resulted in serious injury or death.
The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the rear seat belt buckle had shattered. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer and diagnosed but not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

I was driving my 2009 chevy silverado from my driveway onto our small main street. I was in the truck for less then 2 minutes when I heard a loud explosion and a jolt , as if I had been crashed into. My seat belt retracted pressing against my chest. I got out but there were no cars in sight. I walked around the truck to look for damage or if something like rear end locked or dropped. To my surprise everything looked fine. I was really shook up and shaking. It was loud and really forced seat belt tight against me. I slowly started to drive off but my seat belt was stuck in the retracted position. I kept trying to free it up, but it was jammed. I did do a internet search and found similar occurrences of seat belt malfunction. So to my best guess, the seat belt fired off and prematurely locked in tight position.

Seat belt recall for the 2015 silverado (pretensioner cable). . . . . . . . Landers chev in norman, ok inspected and reports they handled the recall issue on 9/20/2016. On 8/2/2021, the pretensioner cable broke off (not under any stress). I called the dealer and also gm, and was told the cable was fixed back in 2016. I advised that a safety repair should last more than 5 years. Both told me that I would need to pay for the repair. Obviously, the original issue was either not fixed at all, or fixed with the same failing cable from the recall. That was not a fix. There should be another recall.

My son was in the backseat by himself behind the driver seat. Got tangled in the seat belt and it kept ratcheting. It would not release and started to suffocate him around his lungs. We ended up cutting the seat belt to get him out. The seat belt would not release after the vehicle was stopped and turned off.

Driver seat belt will not click in rendering the seat belt unusable.
My husband went to buckle his seatbelt and the thick metal coil within the plastic cover snapped. He was lucky it didn't happen in an accident. I immediately took it to the dealer, who took pictures and stated he needed to contact gm customer service to proceed. He said he's call me back later that day which he did not; I ended up calling the following morning and he proceeded to inform me a diagnostic procedure would have to be done to determine what happened. I asked if he had heard back from customer service and he said no. I called and talked with the service manager who said he would have to wait to hear from gm. Long story short, according to customer service, they'd only pay $70 towards the total cost since the car was not under warranty. I said a 5 year old seatbelt should not snap and they should be responsible for paying the entire $500 tab. They would not do so.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the front driver's side seat belt retainer failed to function as intended. The contact stated that the seat belt retainer was fractured from the left side of the driver’s seat belt mounting. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with front driver's side seat belt retainer failure. The contact was informed that the front driver's seat belt retainer needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired, but an appointment was scheduled for the repair. The contact had experienced the failure twice. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 53,198.
The rear seat belts do not retract once extended. The emergency locking mechanism locks the belt, but the belt does not retract. Installation of car seats that require seat belts to be locked and retracted until tight is not possible.
