The dash around the airbag is cracked. This is very common on 2007-2013 gm vehicles. It is clearly a manufacturers defect, considering nine times out of ten they are broken. The dash is cracked to the point where if the airbag went off, I would not feel safe, in fear of shrapnel coming from the dash being in front of the inflating air bags. Local dealer offered no fix, aside from an over $1,000 out of pocket repair. This is unacceptable.

Takata recal: I was notified in June of 2015 that the airbag was recalled. It is now 2016 and a "fix" has still not been made to address the problem. This far exceeds the reasonable amount of time it should take to come up with a solution to something that can kill you.
Takata recall -this recall campaign is almost a year old. Why don't they have replacement parts available for repair? this a serious matter as I just saw another person has been killed as the result of the defective airbags. This is unacceptable!.

I am filing a complaint due to a safety concern about my passenger airbag on my chevy. There is a crack on my dash where the airbag is stored creating a safety concern in case of an accident. The pressure from the airbag can make my dash a projectile killing passengers in the car. I have attempted to discuss this with gm/chevy but they don't want to recognize their faults. This is an issue that many chevy/gm customers are having. I have pictures of dashes with the cracks in the same place each time. Unfortunately many of these customers have attempted to discuss this concern with gm only to be turned away.
Bnsf railroad owned 2007 chevy Silverado 2500 (hd?) pick up truck involved in a multi-vehicle pileup on interstate I-25 near denver, CO during a severe snow storm. Accident involved approximately 50 vehicles along that stretch of highway. Driving northbound nearing johnson's corner exit and traveling between 35-45 mph, driver noticed a semi-truck sideways ahead and looked for an escape route off the right hand shoulder. When attempting to avoid the jackknifed semi by moving towards the shoulder, another vehicle or vehicles were piled up and or stopped on/along the shoulder area. The vehicle struck the back of a trailer truck but the airbags in the silverado did not deploy. Driver was wearing seatbelt at time of collision but sustained multiple injuries. Vehicle sustained extensive damage to front end. Railroad vehicle was reportedly not equipped with hyrail wheel assemblies but did have a two-way railroad radio installed.
Dash cracking in many places in and around air bag.
The dash board is cracked from front to corner of airbag cover and middle front to dash board. Will this affect the air bag upon deployment?.
My husband has had 3 wrecks in this vehicle anywhere from 5-10 miles per hour up to 85+ mph and not once has any airbag went off! 2 were deer hits and the low mph was another car. I believe that going 85+ mph in any vehicle should send the airbags to set off. We were coming back from amarillo TX pulling a trailer behind and a deer jumped out in front of us hitting us in the radiator and tranny cooler system. We had our seat belts on and only injuries was just added herniated disks in my back. The body shop we took it to is no longer in service but our insurance CO at the time is still open. I will contact them and get the info needed. I had a 2005 Ford fusion and wrecked it only doing 12 mph and every airbag went off when the steering went out and I lost control and hit a 12 ft bank of ground. My suspension went 8 inches out the opposite side of impact as well as all airbags. I believe the air bag in our 2007 2500hd is a danger to us everyday! I don't know what company has the responsibility for the airbags not going off but there is something wrong with the airbags in this vehicle. I pray that someone reads my concern and does something about it! our 8 yr old granddaughter rides in this truck often and that is a concern as well. Another is my 18 yr old son drives it too along with his dad! something needs done with this airbag issue on this vehicle. As consumers, we have to trust that what vehicle we buy will be a safe one but it's getting where the older vehicles are more reliable than the newer ones (1990's to 2018) instead of risking our lives, over charging us for the new vehicle why don't you make them safer instead of more expensive and defective? just a thought that I think all car plant has forgotten about! lives matter!! quit putting money making in front of safety!! I will get pics from insurance and add them later. The date of accident is an approximate.
I have taken my 2007 chevy Silverado 2500hd crew cab in to the dealer many times, they have fixed the problem a few times then proceed to say it is normal for it to do what it does. The front tires turn in towards each other when it is in four wheel drive, and causes the truck to drift off where it wants to. I have taken it in to merollis chevy many times, they have fixed it a few then just tell me its normal. Friday Feb 8 2008 I got my truck back from moran chevy after 2 days being in the shop, and they said everything was good later that day when I had to use four wheel drive I had the same problem but worse than when I took it in, the problem was not fixed Saturday as I was driving home the roads where bad and I put the truck into 4 wheel drive thinking it would be safe since they stated they fixed it, it wasn't. As I was getting on the free way the truck started to drift out of control and slammed into the median on the free way. The first time I ever took the truck in for this problem it only had 371 miles on it. It has been nothing but problems ever since then.
