Failure Date: 06/01/2007

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact purchased the vehicle with an integrated brake controller that is used for hauling a trailer with brakes. When he applies the brakes in his vehicle, the brakes on the trailer are supposed to illuminate simultaneously. However, this is not the case. While hauling a camper at 30 mph, each time the contact applied the brakes, the trailer would push the vehicle forward, nearly causing a rear end crash. The vehicle was taken to the dealer approximately 3 times. The first time, the dealer stated that they could not diagnose the failure because the system was brand new. The second time, the contact spoke with the service manager and was informed that they needed the proper tools to diagnose the failure. The third time, they inspected the vehicle and stated that the vehicle was supposed to have a 2. 5 second delay from when he electronically applied the brakes in the vehicle to the time that it reached the trailer. The contact stated that it felt more like a 3. 5 second delay. The failure mileage was between 500-1000 and the current mileage was 8,606.
