Gm sent me a recall notice March 2021 that my air bag is defective and they plan to replace it. That notice was in March 2021 and they still have not repaired it stating that parts are not available yet. I feel the air bag is a time bomb waiting to explode and I should not be subject to this danger.

Dashboard in the truck has two stress cracks one by the air bag and another one above the speedometer. That dashboard is very poor quality and should be recalled by general motors.

My dash has cracked in multiple locations including the airbag surround. Shards of the dash have now begun to break off - clear indication of an unsafe condition. Should the airbag deploy shards of the shattering dash could rupture the airbag or worse strike and impale the occupants of the vehicle. This is an unsafe condition. I am in the aircraft maintenance business and the faa and ntsb would never allow such an obvious hazard in an aircraft. My dash started cracking years ago and despite stop drilling the cracks as we do in aircraft maintenance on lexan transparencies the cheap plastic the dash is made from continues to propagate new and bigger cracks. Attempts to use a plastic welding repair kit also failed. A recall to address this dangerous condition is way past due.

4th complaint on this recall, still no remedy for this but gm has made 10 more years of trucks and sell replacement air bags for this model, not a good safety recall if they are waiting for someone to die before deciding this vehicle is truly affected by the airbag they installed. Will never buy another gm vehicle again. Still no response from last complaint. Nhtsa should be defunded.

Dash is cracking around airbag. Mine cracked just sitting. This seams to be an ongoing issue within the gm community. These dashes are cracking and could cause someone to be injured should the vehicle get into an impact and not only the airbag deploy but plastic shards project ahead of the airbag.

On July 9 2020 at approximately 1900 enroute home from work, for reasons unknown, driver, (my 26 y/o son ) lost consciousness and subsequently lost control of vehicle (2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500hd crew cab long bed 4x4) while in motion heading southwest on a 2 lane non divided local rural road. Vehicle crossed center lines and unoccupied oncoming lane and traveled off the road at 1022 tamarac rd, brunswick, NY and struck a group of trees dead center of front end shearing all trees off at impact. Driver became alert at first impact. Trees came to rest on roof of cab. ***there was some smokey powder but no air bags in the cab compartment deployed. *** a small burnt tear now exists in the headliner over the steering wheel that appears the air bag actuator may have misfired. Property owners/ residents where crash occurred compelled driver to exit vehicle due to unknown source of what appeared to be smoke. Property owners called 911. Driver walked to and was transported to hospital by ambulance. Driver suffered some internal bleeding and numerous contusions and abrasions from seatbelts and impact with steering column. Vehicle was undriveable and needed to be recovered and towed on flatbed truck from scene.

Gm is saying there is no remedy yet, but they are selling replacement air bags under part # 22744316. So is there not remedy or do they not want to cover their recall. When you pay 50k for a vehicle you expect the manufacturer to stand behind it. Saying the vehicle is safe does not make me comfortable if I was to have an accident that would cause airbag to go off. Let along if someone was to die from the airbag. What good is NHTSA if you don't enforce the recalls, you cannot let the manufacturer decide that any of the vehicles affected by the recall are safe. I will not be buying another gm vehicle if this is not taken care of properly.

Following a vehicle with 4-5 car lengths between, the vehicle in front of us did a panic stop in heavy traffic. When trying to stop our new truck al it did was skid without any noticeable abs actions. We were traveling approximately 65mph at the time of the panic stop. Truck only had 4000 miles on it at the time of the accident. Roads were dry.

Air bag recall and electrical issue.

Takata recall: my family and I suffered a severe car accident and none of the air bags deployed. We hit going 70mph into a flipped 18 wheeler on the highway.

I put my VIN in your database to see if there has been a recall for takata airbags. Per your web site, gm request a petition of inconsequentuality for my model vehicle, even though takata has identified their airbags as being installed on my truck. There was to have been a ruling, again per your website, in August of 2017. There is reference to a docket number which I could not locate. So, I'm asking what is the latest NHTSA ruling regarding gm's petition of inconsequentiality? I may be driving around in a dangerous vehicle which seems to not matter to gm or to NHTSA. Please calm my fears and give me the most recent information, even if it may be something I don't wish to hear. Thank you.

Takata recall: I want this airbag replaced!! this airbag has been under recall since 05/2016. Gm filed for inconsequentiality and your website says it should have been reviewed and decided by 2017. It is now 08/2018, but today, gm says no remedy is available, still. This airbag is a potential loaded shotgun pointed at my passengers. I need a remedy for this airbag ASAP! I think we have been patient enough!!!!.

I am the owner of the vehicle, my son and I were turning onto a highway from a gravel road as I was accelerating, airbags deployed on both sides of the vehicle. Truck was not disabled and I was able to drive it 2. 5 miles back to my house.

My truck went off the road I struck a tree in excess of 20+ miles an hour totaled the truck and no airbag deployed almost killing me now I have facial reconstruction and 6 herniated disks which may keep me from ever working again.

This recall came out in may 2016. Now Ford / Mazda has issued a do not drive until repaired with repairs available. But still no remedy from gm for this? they have built how many more model year trucks and how many trucks since 2011. I live in texas and the temperatures here reach 100* in the summers. There is no reason for a repair not to be available for this after this length of time. How many people have to possibly be killed before this is resolved. There needs to be a class action lawsuit for this. Gm is not taking care of their consumers. I have complained about this before and no response other than no remedy yet. Not acceptable. If an airbag can explode and kill someone than it needs to be repaired now.
