The top of the dash is cracked above the instrument panel. Not sure when or how it happened. This is the same thing I've seen happen to many other gm trucks and suvs.

The dash board on my silverado is cracked in 4 different places. Two on the air bag side and two on the drivers side. They have been getting worse with time. They seem to just keep growing.

I have a 2008 Silverado 2500hd with 48,000 miles on it and just noticed two cracks have formed above the passenger airbag. Even though the warranty has expired I feel this is a manufacturing defect and should be replaced by Chevrolet at no charge. The vehicle has always been stored sun protected except when traveling. At that time a dash screen is used for sun protection. I contacted the Chevrolet customer assistance center immediately and they had me take my vehicle to a Chevrolet dealer for examination. I had my vehicle examined at the Chevrolet dealership on March 21, 2016. They examined the vehicle, took photos and told me they would get back to me with the decision. They did so later that day but the decision was to replace the dash which would be $1000. 00 of which gm would be willing to pick up half, so my out of pocket expense would be $500. 00. I refused this offer and told the dealer I would be contacting the Chevrolet customer assistance center to dispute me having to pay $500. 00 out of pocket expense to correct a manufacturers defect. I contacted the Chevrolet customer assistance center immediately via phone and asked that the issue be elevated to the appropriate person. I provided the representative all the information she requested from me and she assured me that she would elevate the issue to the senior manager in my area and they would get back to me within 48 hours with a decision. As of this writing I have not heard back from anyone. This is a safety issue. If the airbag on he passengers side were to deploy it would sent plastic shrapnel into the driver causing severe injury. I know this to be a fact because I worked on airbag technology back in the 80's and saw videos of what occurs upon airbag deployment when particles are sent flying. Think of a straw being driven into a tree during a tornado. Same principle.

My 2008 chevy silverado's dash is cracking prematurely. I have a low mileage, well maintained vehicle that has 2 large cracks in the dash from I assume is plastic deterioration. I feel this type of defect should not happen in a vehicle of this age and gm knows there is a defect in the materials. I've contacted the dealer but gm assumes no responsibility for the defective material.

The dash around the air bag has formed a crack and upon deployment of the air bag could result in sharp plastic breaking off and hitting passengers. Along with the sharp plastic it could result in the rupture of the airbag and could result in a passenger death. This is a common problem on gm dashes from 2007. 5-2013. Not the actual air bag, but the plastic dash around it. Known cracking in the dash will cause it to shatter during air bag deployment causing possible injuries due to pieces becoming projectiles. Gm is well aware of this defect in the manufacture of the dash.

As many other 07-11 model GMC and Chevrolet vehicle owners have reported, my dash has also cracked in two places on my 2007 Chevrolet 2500hd ltz. My dash cracked above the passenger airbag and above the instrument cluster. Now the cracks are getting longer and affecting other dash panels and making annoying rattle noises. GMC and Chevrolet are obviously aware of this issue and are trying to pawn it off on owner irresponsibility when it is obviously a manufacturer defect. This defect is a safety issue as I see it. If the passenger airbag goes off it can send shards of broken plastic dashboard through the inside of the truck causing occupant injury. GMC and Chevrolet need to realize this and offer a recall to correct the issue before someone gets seriously hurt. They will wish they did when it happens. GMC and Chevrolet sure have great customer service when you are purchasing one of their vehicles. However, the moment you have a problem and need their help they are quick to give you the run-around and tell you they can't do anything to help you. Great customer service! I will never buy another GMC or Chevrolet again.

The dashboard around the passenger air bag has cracked along the upper left outline of the air bag and the crack has ran into the air bag seam. Also on the opposite side, the dashboard has also cracked in a similar way around the instrument cluster. This crack is getting longer and running towards the air vent. I am concerned that the integrity of the air bag has been compromised and that a possible impact may cause flying pieces of plastic on both driver and passenger.

I noticed a crack in my dashboard on the passenger side at the front left corner of where my airbag is in my 2012 Silverado 2500hd ltz. I did research on this problem only to find out there are thousands of others with this issue! it's not from using any cleaning products. It's a manufacturer defect. Wish this could be addressed. I had no idea about reporting on here until recently, hopefully enough will report to maybe get this felt with!.

The dash is cracked in two placed, one spot by the airbag and another very long crack from close to the windshield towards the steering wheel. The crack near the airbag was there when I bought the vehicle in 2012 1 year old from the chevy auto nation finance manager. The other happened over time.

The dash on my truck has a crack in the corner by the passenger air bag. Also it is cracked in front the of driver. Both pose risks to the occupants as it could come apart and shards fly upon impact. Plus the crack is right next to pass air bag and that air bag goes up and into the windshield and out. With the crack beside the air bag there is no guarantee the bag will deploy correctly with the no support around it. I have been looking and noticed thousands of these dashes have cracked which is concerning. I had actually taken it in several years ago (2012) and they denied fixing it then but I have realized the major issue that it has become.

Oem receiver hitch on my 2006 chevy 2500 hd failed. The welds cracked and bent at a 15 deg angle. Towing a camper with the proper hitch well within the recommended weights. Chevrolet refused to examine or correct the problem because the vehicle was out of the initial warranty.

The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. While driving 55 mph his spare tire fell from underneath the vehicle and hit another vehicle behind him. The tire damaged the front end and two people were injured. A police report is available. The brackets were loose and bent when the tire came off. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who noticed that the tire was too heavy for the brackets that held it in place. The insurance company was also called and will be contacting the gm manufacturer. I'm concerned about the poor quality of the hitch receivers in the Silverado 2500hd trucks put on the street by gm! I have a '03, and I'm getting a tt soon. The welds are rusty, and look as though they might even be cracked! if this receiver breaks, and I live to, I am suing gm. My atty has a copy and pic of the mal-quality re this receiver, and instructions to go forward. It sure would be nice if gm could find it in their ethical compass to repair/replace these without having to be spanked about it first.
