The rear window in my 2021 Silverado 2500 leaks when it rains, water is getting in the carpet/seats creating a bad odor and mold. The dealership will not assist in fixing this known issue.

Transmission control valve body (recall #n242454440) ?your truck is part of the massive recall issued late last year (expanded in February 2026) regarding the 10-speed allison transmission. ?the problem: internal wear in the valve body causes a drop in pressure, which can cause the rear wheels to lock up suddenly while you're driving. Multiple occurrences. It has been taken to the shop for this issue.

There is an incredible reliance on navigation and communication while driving. This and many other vehicles have intermittent disconnects to carplay this causes inattentive decisions while attempting to reconnect. I have personally had two trips to dealership with no resolution numerous photos showing loss of communication with vehicles main information center.

My key refuses to come out of the ignition caused by a parking sensor is what chevy told me. I feel it is a safety hazard because I have to leave my truck idling and take the risk of the truck not registering it’s in park and moving on its.

My husband and I were driving his chevy silverado with our two dogs in the back. Without any warning or any alert, our vehicle came to a complete stop in the middle lane on a three lane highway. Not a slow stop where there was any time. I’m confirming immediate. At that time, the vehicle would not move at all for almost 5 minutes. As we sat there praying to god that we wouldn’t die as tractor trailers and other vehicles came flying past missing us by inches. It’s truly a miracle that no one was killed. He put truck in neutral and pressed start button and was not able to go any faster then 5 mph and once again a miracle we were able to make it to shoulder of highway without being hit. The vehicle was shaking excessively and flashing things like emissions, traction, as our videos and pictures will show when we made it to side of highway. This is a disgrace that any vehicle would ever be manufactured with this outcome. I am deeply grateful that my husband and I and our two dogs are alive and not injured but this should never happen again.

The engine block heater in my truck keeps tripping the circuit breaker. Dealership says it that 'it appears that the block heater cord is shorted recommend replacing cord' estimate $500. I understand that chevy has recalled some trucks from this year for this very problem however it and they don't include my truck. I was leaving my farm property after loading my truck and tailgate and drove home 20 miles. At some point in the drive my tailgate dropped and fell onto the trailer tongue. This caused damage to my tailgate. I have called the dealer and they informed me there was a recall on the tailgate latch but they completed the work on the recall defect. I am questioning this and want to understand what to do now. I don't trust the tailgate and the truck has no warning system for when the tailgate drops like a door open signal.

The transmission valve has gone bad a few thousand miles outside of warranty. This part has widely been recalled in silverados up to 2022 but is not including 2024 yet. This is the same issue, that I also had with my chevy tahoe last August. Please include 2024 2500 silverados.

2024 Chevrolet 2500 hd purchased new. Vehicle did not include a complete owners manual only a brief description of vehicle. Many safety issues were left out such as maintenance schedules that could affect performance and safety over the life of the vehicle. Another issue that was omitted was the operation of the automatic tailgate that was involved in a previous recall. I contacted Chevrolet and asked for the complete version of the owners manual and was told the the incomplete manual was all that was included in the purchase of a $72,000 truck. I was directed to a third party which offered the complete manual for $94. 00 which included $32. 00 shipping and handling. Book rate shipping is $5. 95. For an automaker to excessivey profit from a safety problem is inexcusable and a danger to the public.

I am unable to get the keys out of the ignition when shutting off the truck.

The check engine light goes on continously and it goes to limp mode. The truck cannot be driven daily and most of the time is in the dealer fixing the updates or computer. It is not an equipment problem but a computer problem.

Engine light is on sdgm module abnormal.

I do not have access to my owners manual. One was not included with the truck when I bought it. I was told I could download it in the app, but I am still unable to do so.

I purchased my 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 2500hd new from wilsonville Chevrolet in oregon. Since owning the vehicle, I have experienced a noticeable shutter/vibration at highway speeds, consistently between 70–75 mph, whether towing or not. The shutter feels like it is coming from the transmission or driveline, and it occurs on multiple road types and conditions. I reported this issue to wilsonville Chevrolet, but they told me they “could not duplicate” the problem and offered no repair. I then took the truck to power Chevrolet in corvallis, who stated the tires were out of balance and replaced them. This did not resolve the issue, and the shutter at highway speed remains exactly the same. I also contacted gm directly, but was redirected back to the dealership, resulting in no progress. At this point the issue has been reported multiple times, yet no root cause or repair has been provided. I am essentially being sent in circles without a solution. There appears to be a growing history of transmission-related issues with newer Chevrolet hd trucks equipped with the allison 10-speed transmission, and this symptom seems consistent with those reports. A shutter at sustained highway speeds raises a significant safety concern, as a transmission failure at 70+ mph could lead to loss of control or power. In addition to the shutter, I have repeatedly noticed a strong “burning brake pad” smell coming from the rear of the truck. This happens randomly and has also been reported to the dealership, but no cause has been identified. I am unsure whether this is related to the transmission issue, but combined, these symptoms suggest a potential mechanical defect. Given the safety implications and the lack of resolution from authorized dealerships, I am requesting NHTSA’s assistance in investigating this issue.

Had new western wideout snowplow (recommended by western) installed by western dealership on a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500hd with snow plow prep package. Vehicle's instrument cluster, hvas, radio and other electrical systems cut out while operating snowplow. Gm is well aware of this issue which has been discussed and documented per gm service bulletin no. : pit5387c (Feb 2016)- pit5387p (10/17/2024), as well as gm upfitter integration ui bulletin #124k (11/7/2019). Western states the fix for this issue is for gm to supply and install a wiring harness (per the above gm bulletins) gm dealerships as well as gm consumer assistance hotline state that gm part number 84043394 (fitting 2014-2019 vehicles) referenced to in pit5387 and other bulletins has been discontinued. Therefore gm can not nor will ever be able to obtain or install this wiring harness in the future. Gm upfitter integration bulletin #124k instructs to install a different part number 84288774 vyu snow low jumper harness per the latest version of gm service bulletin pit5387. "note: that this jumper harness and installation will be provided (one time) without charge. " gm dealerships state pn 84288774 does not appear in their system as a valid gm part. Parts. The official gm parts store at [xxx] , list this part but shows it does not fit this vehicle. Therefore neither gm nor western is able to provide any actionable solution to this known safety issue. Western (and other manufactures) still manufacturing, recommending and installing snowplows for this specific vehicle. Gm, manufactured, sold, promoted, advertises and continues to recommend snowplows to be installed on these vehicles (with the gm factory snow plow prep option), and continues to issue bulletins instructing gm dealerships how to fix this issue despite being fully aware gm cannot supply these parts. I am filing a safety and health complaint regarding a known rear window water intrusion defect on my 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 with approximately 56,000 miles. Despite the severity of the issue, the dealership has refused to provide a permanent repair. This defect is widely documented and has resulted in a recall in canada, yet no recall exists in the united states—despite significantly more of these vehicles being sold here. The inconsistency in recall coverage is deeply concerning. My vehicle experiences substantial water intrusion that has saturated the rear headliner, rear seat area, and carpeting. This creates a serious health concern, particularly for rear-seat passengers, including children. Prolonged moisture intrusion creates a high likelihood of mold growth beneath interior components, which general motors has failed to address. There is also a serious safety risk. The rear sliding window heater module is mounted directly to the rear window. It is well known that when this module is exposed to moisture from the leak, it can cause the rear window to shatter or explode. The dealership has acknowledged this risk. A rear window shattering while occupants are in the vehicle could result in serious injury. When covered under bumper-to-bumper warranty, the dealership’s only solution is a “reseal” of the rear window. This is not a permanent repair, and many owners report repeated failures after resealing. This issue is easily verified through widespread consumer complaints. These trucks are expensive vehicles, and owners should not be forced to accept temporary fixes for a defect that presents clear health and safety risks. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this issue and take appropriate action.

When truck is turned off, cannot remove key. You have to wait 5 minutes or more before the key will come out of the ignition. Sometimes longer. This is an ongoing problem. We have another truck doing the same thing.

On 8/25/2025 I purchased a used 2015 chevy Silverado 2500hd from a auto dealer and they had put new tires on the truck that aren't rated for a 2500 hd, I contacted them and they offered me $400 to replace them with the correct tires that cost me $1319. 78 they refuse to help me anymore which is putting my life and others at stake if a tire is to blow out hauling heavy loads that the tires aren't rated for. That 3/4 ton truck is suppose to have tires with a (e) rating, also the tpms system does't work because all the tires are under inflated for that truck. They have been contacted about this issue; fmvss no. 120: fmvss no. 139: fmvss no. 138 cover this issue! the dealership violated the NHTSA standards and consumer protection laws among other laws.

The rear camera goes out when backing up. This causes a safety hazard due to not being able to see.

Onstar stopped working after an over the air software update and has not worked since.

When towing a trailer, the trailer brakes will disconnect when applying medium to hard brake. This is when the brakes on the trailer are needed the most. The trailer lights still work when the brakes controller disconnects them. There was a recall on the 2024 Chevrolet hd trucks to "fix" this.

Tailgate has been coming open while driving. Multiple times. The last time it landed on the jack of my enclosed trailer. Without me knowing. First time was 2-3-25 and the last time was 9-2-25.

Unable to remove key from ignition for a period of time ie. 30 sec. To a minute or more. After driving the vehicle for a either a long or short period of time and you park it, you can't turn the ignition lock all the way off.

Tcm stopped working, have been reading how this is a common issue, my truck is currently in the shop and mechanic is having trouble finding a tcm replacement.

The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the trailer hitch detached. The contact stated that the failure occurred while a trailer was hitched to the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure caused damage to the trailer and a hole in the bed of the vehicle. In addition, the contact performed an inspection of the vehicle and noticed that the trailer hitch was not properly welded. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was confirmed that the metal hitch was not penetrated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the vehicle was diagnosed. The contact was informed that the results could not be disclosed to the contact. The contact stated that because of the failure and not knowing the safety of the vehicle, the vehicle had not been driven since. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The manufacturer requested a third-party investigation. The contact was requested to take the vehicle to the dealer. The manufacturer requested that the vehicle be taken to the dealer so that the third-party investigation could be performed. The vehicle was picked up by the dealer. The contact was informed that the investigation was completed; however, the results were not shared with the contact. The failure mileage was 29,300.

Tailgate went down on its own while driving and pulling a trailer.

I was on a two lane driving down the road and getting up to speed. I was still about 45 miles per hour on my way up to 55 mph my vehicle started DE rating very fast as I’m driving and then my engine shut off. I had no control over my steering as I made a turn to get off the two-lane road because there was no shoulder. I had to turn the steering wheel really hard and was not able to control the vehicle at all because the engine shut down completely. Everything shut down. I was sticking out in the road. I have no clue yet. What caused it I had to get it towed to a dealership. I just thank god I wasn’t on an interstate but still I was on a two lane and had just topped over a small hill where nobody could see me when they topped the little hill. It could’ve been a very dangerous situation.

My vehicle says put in park when it’s already in park . My sons vehicle also does the same thing it’s a 1500 silverado.

Tailgate going up and down on its own when in park. Now it will not open at all. There is a recall #n232426400 but dealership says it is not listed for my truck.

Vehicle was brought to lone star Chevrolet in houston on 6/16/2025 because tailgate would not open with the button and only would open with the fob. They stated no parts to fix and did not advise of the severity of risk from the recall when picked truck up. Saturday afternoon [xxx] while leaving a parking lot and driving on the feeder road the tailgate opened resulting in the large ice chest that was full of water bottles ice and and storage containers with food to fall on road along with battery power fan and several extra batteries. These items unexpectedly sliding down the feeder resulted in several cars making defensive maneuvers nearly resulting in several crashes and the ice chest bumping 1 vehicle. All lanes of traffic stopped and several people helped to pick up the debris off the road. No information from people who stopped was collected, and no report from driver of truck that hit cooler. The tailgate on my truck is electrically opened & closed. I've been having trouble with the tailgate opening randomly, even while driving. This has happened multiple times and can create a very dangerous situation, especially if I'm hauling something in the bed of the truck and it could possibly fall out if the tailgate were to open. Once I was hauling a bunk bed and the tailgate opened without me knowing it. Fortunately, we were driving through town on a flat road when it happened & nothing fell out. Someone behind me pulled up beside me to let me know my tailgate just opened. I recently took my truck to my local chevy dealer & they said there was no recall on it & they wanted $170 for them just to look at it. I looked online and see recall# n232426400 for it but I've never received a notice & the dealer says there is no recall on it for my truck. (I have a video of it opening & closing by itself but it's too large to send you).

Tranmission isn't running right and gas and brakes are not working properly. Also fuel pump or relay gets hot shuts off while driving.
