As mentioned by many customers the dash on the vehicles crack and gm refuses to pay for repairs. Now there is a airbag recall that needs to be completed and I am told by dealer that the dash will crack more and get worse during the repair and they are not responsible for the damage. This is unacceptable and unsafe as it is costing me and consumers more money for a defective product.

The key constantly gets stuck in the ignition after shutting off the vehicle. Some times have have to start the car multiple times and move the steering wheel to get the key to come out. Sometimes that doesn't work and I have to play with it for up to 3 minutes just trying to get the key out.
We received a recall on this truck 2/2025 showing that there was a transmission control valve defect that was causing excessive wear on the gears. We took it into sands Chevrolet and they did a repair under warranty. Within a few weeks, the truck again lost power, would not go over 30 mph and caused a safety issue as it happened while on the highway. We immediately took the truck back to sands who informed us of the recall and that the transmission needed to be repaired because of the excessive wear under the recall. Sands Chevrolet told us it would be 2 months before they could repair it. However, there was another local shop that could so we took it there and had it repaired within days. The dealership told us to submit our invoice and credit card statement showing that we paid the $5575 out of pocket that we were told we would be reimbursed for. Now, chevy is denying that there was even a recall on the vehicle. . . . But I have the letter from gm showing the recall and the local sands dealership is the one that told us to go get it fixed. I have the scan of the safety recall, but it is not letting me upload it here. It is gm recall # n242454440.

Repeated shift to park message even when in park. Resulting in many hours of shutting off and on, shifting between gears to get it to recognize it is in park. Dealership where purchased is trying to convince me it's a $700 fix with no recall. It is a known gm problem. This blatant disregard for proper repairs is costing gm customers thousands in additional repair for their gross negligence as well as endangering the safety of its customers. It additionally results in draining the battery, starter and transmission problems. Gm needs to be held accountable since they know it is an issue.
Originally Chevrolet offered a 2 phase approach for this recall. First phase was to install monitoring software in the ecu and tcu to monitor for early transmission control valve premature wear. Second phase was to actually replace the suspect valve. I've just received a second correspondence from Chevrolet for this recall, now only offering phase 1, tcu and ecu monitoring software installation. So if the monitoring software detects premature valve failure, the vehicle will be limited to 5th gear. I don't think limiting a vehicle to 5 our of 10 gears is a safe solution. If I'm on the freeway, towing 10,000 lbs, and my vehicle is limited to 5th gear, I may have to travel a very long time at way below posted speed limits before I can get to a dealer for repair. As we all know, travelling on the freeway at lower than posted speed limits can be just as dangerous as travelling above posted speed limits. And in fact, here in idaho, if you're travelling below posted speed limits you can be fined just as if you were exceeding speed limits. I feel Chevrolet's original solution is the best. Replace the suspect valve proactively instead of actually waiting for it to fail which can possibly cause an unsafe condition.

Rear back-up camera is intermittent and is a safety concern due to the size of the vehicle. I makes it un-safe when backing up. This has been happening more and more. Screen is either black or icon displays that the camera is not working.
"n192265660 - customer satisfaction program rear window defroster thermal events - us only" rear window shattered after having the symptoms described in customer satisfaction program n192265660. Rear defroster would smoke/smell hot when activated. The symptoms were brought to the attention of the dealership prior to window breaking, but nothing was done due to the VIN not being part of the listing. Now I have no rear window and parts are on backorder with no eta. Not to mention this will be out of pocket costs that could have been prevented. This glass shattered all over my [xxx] old daughter. This has also been known to cause fires according to the bulletin. This should be a recall. If it already is a recall my VIN is certainly affected by this problem but is not listed. My VIN should be listed along with several others. This is a relatively common problem. Dealer refuses to work with me on a cost effective solution. No warnings other than the described symptoms that were brought to the dealer as previously stated. Approximate time frame was Dec 2022. Dealer did nothing due to my VIN not being listed as part of this program. Truck was parked in the garage when the window shattered. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

The vehicle spontaneously caught fire in the engine compartment. The vehicle was parked in a driveway and the fire caused by the vehicle spread to a building and it also caught fire. Hood country fire marshall opened case#h24111501.
While driving I smelled burning electrical somewhere in the cab. Looking in the rearview mirror I saw smoke ciming from the corner of the sliding rear window. I pulled over and opened my rear door and heard a crack type noise. The smoke stopped and the drivers side rear window was shattered. Upon researching the issue I found a recall was done in canada and not in the USA .
Security gateway module has failed 5 times. When it fails there is no backup camera and nothing in the radio console works. Dealer replaces after several weeks and it breaks again.

Rear backup camera works intermittently especially after long drives. Screen is black with a camera in a red circle with a slash thru it.
When putting the truck back into park it will say shift to park even though it is already in park. It causes the truck not to shut off.
The tailgate opens on it's own. This is unsafe because the tailgate can open without me knowing it and cause a safety hazard by hitting someone or by items falling out of the bed of the truck while driving. That can cause injury or damage to people and/or property.
After a rain storm the tailgate started malfunctioning. Now it does it all the time even on pure sunny days. It will go up and down randomly without anyone touching a button. It does it so much it drained both batteries, which left the truck inoperable. The dealer said it’s not under the recall that’s out for other trucks and to just bring it up for repair.

Ac will not run while truck is in idle. I was told by the dealer all gm trucks with the 6. 6 gasoline engine this is a standard on them. This is a major safety issue when it becomes 100 f outside.
Trailer brake controller repeatedly failed. The tbc would turn on and off randomly, the trailer we were towing then had no trailer brakes. This has atsb associated with it, but this is a safety issue and should be a safety recall. The TSB is 23-na-149. I am a mechanical engineer and my wife is a software engineer and we spent many hours troubleshooting this on the road away from home. Gm must be compelled to elevate this to a recall as the condition of no trailer brakes can lead to a crash and deaths. Thank you.
Side mirrors are loose at pivot point, driving at highway speed can blow them closed to the window causing a lack of visibility and requiring me to exit and pull the mirrors back out. Extensive research has not revealed a solution, I have inquired with my dealer, they will not follow up. This has happened several times.
On [xxx], I was driving our 2017 Silverado 2500hd lt 6. 6, with my family in ohio when the trailer brake controller error started flashing on the dash and would not shut off, go silent nor correct itself. It almost caused an accident initially because it was distracting me by making me look down to read the message. Then we were almost in a dozen accidents as we were traveling too slow for conditions, unable to get off the highway safely, and issues with steering and braking. In 10 minutes, the error sounded 50+ times. We were towing a 36’ 5th wheel trailer suddenly stabilitrac also kicked on, reduced power (another message to look down and read), the engine started running so rough (another issues to look down at the gauges) that I thought the engine had blown. We were not in a safe place to pull over and power was cut dropping our speed from 70 to 45 in a 70 zone. Just after going up the hill, we had to continue down other side which we discovered that the trailer brakes were not operational. As we were burning our truck brakes going down the other side. The only reset is to shut off the key (which would lock the steering wheel, lose power steering and power brakes while driving). When stabilitrac appears vital drivers data is blocked. We removed the trailer brake fuse and the trailer battery charger fuse, but the trailer brake controller messages continued. Even with the trailer disconnected the the messages continued. The trailer brake wire under the truck had exposed wires. Did the exposed wire cause other systems to malfunction? 1. Are the defective wiring harness(ES) causing other systems to fail too, and/or can cause electrical fires? 2. Defective trailer braking unit needs to give one warning and stop. This defect poses a serious issue for anyone towing (or not). 3. Stabilitrac is going to kill someone because I believe it already has killed. If stabilitrac throughs the right code it will shut down the engine. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C.

When slowing down the vehicle and almost coming to complete stop the truck shutters when it shifts down. Also, if slowing down and almost coming to a stop and then accelerating the truck hesitates, and then shifts hard. The truck hesitating has caused a delay in clearing traffic while turning to exit the road.
Runs weird and windshield is broke.

Keep getting shift to park message after placing truck in park and shutting off the vehicle.
When using the backup camera, the guidelines displayed on the screen do not line up center with the vehicle. Meaning if using the guidelines to reverse as intended, you will be too far to one side as a result. I have taken the vehicle to Chevrolet but they are unable to reprogram the display.
I have always received tailgate open messages, but after putting the vehicle in park to check, it has never come open. It finally did come open when I was towing a trailer which caused damage on the tailgate. The dealership stated no recalls, and they couldn't find an issue with it.
When starting the truck the ignition sticks in the start position making the starter motor run while the engine is running sometimes slips from run position into start while driving.
Every time the truck is started it will give a dash screen warning of "low coolant level" even though the reservoir is completely full. It has been doing it for years now. The warning can simply be dismissed, but I worry that if it actually ever is low, I will never know until it's too late because myself and everyone affected is going to simply dismiss the warning as it is a daily occurrence. That is to say if the sensor works properly at all. I have researched it online on several chevy owners websites and it is a very common problem that appears to be from a faulty sensor that is built into the plastic af reservoir. Many have stated they have reported it to dealerships, but to no avail.
Interior of tailgate fills with rainwater when tailgate is down. Electrical components inside the tailgate are affected by the water/moisture including two rear view cameras, components associated of the power tailgate, and the electronic tailgate latch/lock. The rear-view camera has failed. Cameral failure is also affecting the proximity radar system which is working intermittently. The equipment failures have resulted in several near miss incidents. Warnings appear on the dashboard when attempting back up the vehicle. Proximity radar stops working without warning.
Tailgate is opening and closing and opening and closing all on its own. This is safety hazard when towing or cargo could fall out onto the highway.
Brake pedal gets hard no brakes pops back up all brakes lock up and throws u forward and then works fine for a day or 2 then same thing changed hydro pump 2 brake booster one and the last time it was changed good for two days then issues with my brakes again haven’t even made first payment yet and check engine light because a glow plugs out.
Repeated temporary failures in the integrated trailer braking control (itbc) results in trailer brakes being inoperable (disconnected) while driving as indicated by the warning display on the dash. The complete loss of trailer braking, including increased stopping distance or trailer instability which could result in serious injury, death, or property damage. The itbc has been replaced twice, including once by dealership and the problem persists. This has been occuring from 2019 until today whenever I tow my 5th wheel. Trailer to truck connecting cords and outlets have been inspected and/or replaced as a precaution. This is the same 5th wheel which was towed by a 2005 chevy 2500hd for 10 years without a problem using an aftermarket brake controller.
Unknown. I just noticed the lights immediately and the reverse camera but told dealer before I bought it and they said they would fix it then they said they couldn't do anything about it after I bought it.
