The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 hd equipped with goodyear wrangler silent armor tires, size lt225/75/r17. The contact stated that the tread separated from the front passenger tire while driving 70 mph. The failure caused the bumper cap to be torn from the vehicle as the vehicle traveled erroneously across several lanes. In addition, the fender and passenger side door were also damaged. The contact was able to install the spare tire and the vehicle was taken to the dealer. The dealer advised that they were not familiar with the type of failure and offered no further assistance. The manufacturer was not notified. The tire failure mileage was 10,000. The vehicle failure mileage was 125,000.
