I've realized and noticed in my vehicle; that some things aren't electronic set correct. My air bag light for passenger; does not turn on when I have a passenger. Some days it will be on and other times it will not. My screen glitches here and there and not working correctly even with touch. A few buttons on the steering will are not as well working for some reason. My fuel gage for miles changes and not set up correctly with pump. It will show 280 when full the. Move up maybe 15 minutes later then back down. Not like it was when I first purchase my vehicle.

The passenger "airbag off" remains illuminated if you have a 100lb or 250lb person in the seat. Every so often, when a 200+lb person sit in the passenger seat, the light will extinguish indicating that the airbag is activated. Then if that 200+lb person adjust position while in the seat , the "airbag off" light will illuminate again. I read many Sonic owner complaints from 2012-2016 model years with the same issue. I called 2 local chevy dealers and the service advisors said they were not aware of any "airbag off" light issues at all but I could stop by so they diagnose a known problem for $140. From all the forums I've read, not one, I repeat not one of these airbag light off issues has been resolved even after taking the car to the dealer. An attorney website dedicated to Sonic airbag issues has many testimonials from owners and statistics showing at least 10 injuries and 1 death resulting from these airbag issues. These are not takata airbags by the way. I sincerely hope that nhsta looks into this issue before there are any more injuries or deaths.
Yesterday 9-9-2018, I started car, drove it one block and airbag light came on. Car has 30k miles, never been in an accident, and never had any safety problem. Dealer says it went out of warranty 5-26-2018. . . . . . . .

The air bag light goes off and on while driving, all different times at all different speeds intermitantly. Brought car to dealer the car has 40,500 miles on it, dealer said it came up with a couple of codes said nothing is wrong. Drove car to work the next morning light back on and off. Called 800 Chevrolet number they tell me it is not a recal. It has been coming on more frequent by the day can you guide me through what to do.
When my wife rides front passenger seat air bag indicator shows air bag off. Returned vehicle to dealer. Was informed aftermarket seat covers will effect sensor and giver gm bulletin #06-08-50-009h. Subsequently removed seat covers but sensor still not working. Returned to dealership. Was informed sensor was working as designed and problem was my wife's weight (85 lbs). That the sensor was set at industry standard of 95lbs. Contacted gm consumer relations and subsequently informed to return to dealership for repair. Returned to dealership and again informed that the sensor was working as designed and given gm bulletin #12-09-41-002b passenger presence system. Again advised it as a weight issue even though the bulletin stated "the system works by detecting the capacitance of the object on the seat, not the weight". Contacted gm consumer relations again and was advised that they could not force the dealership to fix the issue. Never advising if there was even a repair available or acknowledging that the sensor is set at 95 lbs. My wife rides in my kia and daughter's chevy traverse with no issues. Just would like a straight answer and wish would have known the weight effect on front passenger seat. I know what my wife's weight was and I would never have purchased this vehicle.

When a passenger is present, the air bag and seatbelt indicator does not indicate that they are active like they are supposed to.
I have had my car into the dealer 3 times now within 5 months and they have yet to fix my passenger airbag issue. I took it in on 11/27/2015, 02/26/2016 and again on 03/28/2016. The first 2 times I was told that they would have to order the sensor for it and the last time they told me that they had the sensor but when they called me they told me that the sensor they ordered was wrong and that the sensor I needed was marked as discontinued from gm. The airbag light would stay off even with my fiance sitting in the seat whom weights a little over 200lbs and then it would deside to come on and off as it wanted. Now that I have taken it to the shop and found out that the part is discontinued my main airbag light is on and I have less than 100,000 miles on the car and I have the gmppp plan and the dealership hasn't offered me to call and get a rental, they have acted like this is not a big deal. I have a 13 yr and my fiance and myself whom is pregnant that ride in this car and it's not safe. Not happy at all!!!.
Air bag light on dashboard came on, intermittently at first, now permanently. There are three (3) air bag related recalls for 2012 Chevrolet Sonics which detail the same symptoms. Nearest Chevrolet dealer said this Sonic is not part of any of those recalls but the problem seems to be the same. Is there any recourse to have the car checked at no cost to owner? thank you.
