I was driving and turning left into a plaza parking lot when another vehicle hit mine very hard as they were going really fast. They hit the front end of my vehicle completely damaging the grill, front bumper and all of the supports for them. Even though my car took a hard impact by another vehicle, the driver's side airbag did not deploy. I, as well as the cops that were on duty, were very concerned by this fact.

My wife was driving on a straight road with cruise control set at 60 mph when she saw a deer in the road - she swerved and braked hitting the deer in the drivers headlight area above drivers front tire and both driver side doors. The air bag did not deploy and the seat belt did not lock in place and hold her in place.

The passenger air bag will not indicate when there is a passenger in the vehicle. This is sporadic and only works when it wants to. In the event of an accident the airbag may not deploy if there is a passenger in the seat.

Takata recall the air bag light comes on and off. When the light is on I call on star and they say its a defect in deploy diagnostic code b0081 and when I take it in the light is off. I dont want to get in an accident and then the air bag not deploy.
***takata recall*** was involved in a car accident other car ran a stop sign & I tbone the other car @ about 25 mph & the air bags didnt deployed.
Almost a year since engine last stalled without warning (happened 3 times in about 3 months). When pulling into traffic from a stop, heard 3 chimes and several warning lights lit up (traction control, engine power down, check engine, service car ASAP). Engine at low power, was able to drift into parking lot. Restarted car after several minutes, all lights except check engine went off. Check engine light went off after I put gas in the car the next day. I do not feel safe in this car. Long story short the dealer was going to work with me to take the car back, but bank would not release title (loan is very upside down) until another mechanic looked at the car. Bank wanted me to utilize my warranty program I had purchased with the car loan. Mechanic found p2138 app sensor code. Was leaning into the driver side on the floor to look under the dash and his elbow got wet. Found driver footwell completely soaked: carpet, liner, and carpet pad. Rest of the car was dry. Discovered the sunroof had been leaking down into the car and not draining out properly on driver's side. Could not check entire drain system without removing headliner. Found water had compromised the side air bag and wire harness; several connectors corroded. Sprayed water on wires and was able to replicate engine power loss. Confirmed that water was leaking into the vehicle onto the wire harness. Temporarily fixed the issue with dielectric grease to prevent connectors from getting wet. Mechanic left the panels off so I can monitor the sunroof leaking. I do not feel safe in the car because of the air bag being wet and may not deploy properly, the wet carpet pad which could cause rust and mold, and the corroded wire terminals. Will contact dealer and bank tomorrow. I am hoping they will take the car off my hands as it will be a few years til I can pay it off and I don't want an accident before then.
The passenger seat airbag sensor goes out. If someone is in the seat, air bag will not deploy when necessary.

The passenger airbag will not turn on when there is a passenger in the seat. This is a sporadic problem and does not always happen. It will also illuminate both the on and off lights at the same time. This is a safety issue because if in an accident the passenger airbag may not deploy if the sensor is not working to detect a passenger.
Takata recall I was involved in an accident where I hit a stationary SUV from the back, I was traveling 30-35 mph per the police report through a large city intersection. My Sonic was hit hard on the whole front left (driver side) the car was totaled and was reported to have a lot of left frame damage. During this accident my airbags did not deploy. No ambulance was called but I was taken to the va to receive treatment for my back pain from the accident. I have been informed that based on the hard hit and the amazing of damage my air bags should have deployed for my safety. The reason the airbags did not deploy is unknown to me.
Tl the contact owned a 2016 Chevrolet Sonic. The contact stated that while driving and making a right turn, another vehicle crashed into the rear of the vehicle. The side curtain air bag failed to deploy. The driver and front passenger sustained head, neck and back injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to carmax (2550 roosevelt blvd, clearwater, FL 33760, (727) 507-0790) where the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired but deemed a total loss. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and opened case number: 900227. The approximate failure mileage was 58,000. Aw.
While driving to work within the city limits my daughter had an accident a few days ago involving a rear end collision with a four wheel drive pickup. She didn't notice the cars in front had stopped suddenly and hit the truck in front of her. The problem with this is that her front proximity signal didn't sound off warning she was too close and after the impact her airbags never deployed. Vehicle was traveling at leastt 35 mph. I am very concerned for her safety with the car now and if it's repairable we will still sell as my confidence in the vehicle's safety is gone.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Sonic. While driving 50 mph, the contact struck a van due to weather conditions. The air bags did not deploy. The police department was called to the scene and a police report was filed. The ambulance was not called and the contact was able to drive the vehicle to the contact's residence. The contact sustained a fractured neck and a concussion and her spouse sustained a sprained neck and back. Medical attention was received. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 64,913.
I was involved in a crash in which I was on the highway, traffic was congested due to another accident and construction. Me and the vehicle ahead of me were at a complete stop as was everyone else, when I was rear ended pretty forcefully and to the point that after slamming harder on my breaks, my vehicle was still shoved into the truck in front of me. My complaint is that my airbag never even deployed. I was struck pretty hard as well as shoved into the vehicle in front of me that crunched my car at both ends. I find this a serious safety hazard that my airbags did not protect me from if I would have hit the steering wheel.
Airbag problems: about 1yr ago, had car looked at because passenger seat was not sensing occupants, airbag readiness light flashed on and off for few wks about 2 mths ago, now it's continuously on, was told airbags will not deploy in accident if passenger seat airbag sensor not replaced. Was also side swiped about 1yr ago going about 45 mph and no air bags deployed, have pics from accident but no police report filed.
Our vehicle was hit while in motion at approximately 30 mph on a city street on the driver side by another vehicle that didn't yield at a stop intersection. Side airbags did not deploy. Entire driver side of our the vehicle was destroyed. My head bounced off the driver side window causing injury that I didn't seek medical attention for. Child in backseat driver side hit head as well, and did seek medical attention. Our vehicle was inoperable, and had to be towed from the scene.
The contact owned a 2013 Chevrolet Sonic. While driving 55 mph, the contact's vehicle was run off the road by another vehicle. As a result, the contact's vehicle crashed into a pole. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sustained injuries to the neck and a fractured right rib, which needed medical attention. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to a junkyard. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN and failure mileage were unknown.
Approximately 2 weeks ago, my airbag warning light came on. The manual said to take it to the dealership immediately as the airbag could fail to deploy in an accident or could deploy for no reason causing severe injury. I noticed there had been a recall issued for this vehicle in 2014 for this issue. Actions: gm will notify owners, and dealers will test the terminals in the ip harness clock spring coil connector and replace any loose terminals, free of charge. The recall began in October 2014. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. Gm's number for this recall is 14537. For detailed information & supporting documents, see the official NHTSA page concerning recall #14v543000 . I called the number at chev customer service, and they were no help-said my VIN number wasn't listed in the recall. I am very concerned about this as it seems a coincidence that I have the exact vehicle and the exact problem. . . . . . . The dealership in provo, utah, did a diagnosis and said since the light wasn't on at the exact time of the diagnosis that they couldn't tell. I can't predict when it will come on, and when it does come on it is usually off by the time I find a dealership. I am concerned that I could be severely injured due to this problem and feel it could be taken care of if I could find someone that gave a hoot. It comes on when I am driving.
My 2012 Chevrolet Sonic was involved in an automobile accident resulting in injury to me because my airbags did not deploy. There were several recal campaigns on the vehicle that did not come up under my VIN. I collided with a vehcile that had blew a stop sign as I proceeded through the intersection. My vehicle t-bone the other vehicle. My air bags did not deploy the othe vehicles air bags did. My car has been service at modern Chevrolet university parkway in winston salem nc since purchasing the vehicle in Nov. 2012 from that dealership. The only recalls the dealership or gm has notified me about were only gm campaign id 12172 replace swaybar links and gm campaign id12176. Vehicle was a total loss.

The air bag warning light stays on. Started in June 2016, took it to Chevrolet dealership that I purchased my car from. They ran a computer diagnostic on the car and said that the sensor for the air bags needed to be replaced at about a cost of $500. Since I did not have the money to pay for it, they make it so the warning light was off and said that because of the bad sensor, the air bags may not deploy in an accident. The warning light had come on again. Since is not a normal "wear and tear" part on the vehicle, I feel I should not have to pay to have the issue fixed.

Air bag light will not go off - air bags will not deploy (per the mechanic). Took to our local dealership and was told the air bag module would not update and needed to be replaced at a cost of $750. 00. How can a part that has never been used not be able to be updated without having to purchase a new one. I see all the recalls on this car / this model / this year regarding airbags. I think this is something that also needs to be addressed.
My husband and I were traveling straight in a 2015 Chevrolet Sonic lt at approximately 35-40 mph when the driver of a 2002 Toyota corolla made a left hand turn causing a collision. Simply put we t boned the other vehicle. 2015 chevy Sonics are equipped with weight sensing restraint systems. I was the passenger and weigh approximately 142 lbs. Both driver front air bags deployed, knee and steering wheel. The passenger front air bags did not deployed. Almost all of the damage was to the front end passenger side. Total mileage at time of collision was 3,191. So far insurance has estimated repair costs to be $8,863. 10, note this is before tare down. Final cost will rise considering they failed to include front bumper and radiator. I have been advised that we are looking at a possible total loss. I have contacted gm concerning the air bag failure, and the report has been passed along to now the third person. The report was "escalated to central claims" on 4/2/2015, I was told then that I would receive a call within 24-48 hours, it is now 4/7/215. I did not receive a call, called gm yesterday and was given contact information of the 3rd assigned person, sent an email asking for a return call, no response received. It has now been 24 hours since email. Please be careful when allowing adolescents/children to ride in front passenger seat.
I was going down denton road and hit a deer going 55 mph. The front of my car was damaged really bad almost $5,000. 00 of damage. I have two slipped disk in my back because of the incident. My airbags did not deploy.
