While driving my car "gliches" the lights go on and off, the power steering stops the locks go up and down and all electronics in the dashboard go on and off. Last week, it shut down in the middle of the road and I could not start it for about 5 minutes or so. Got it home and it did it again the next day while it was parked. This started years ago. Brought it to dealer they said "well it's not doing it now". I was not educated at the time to push for anything to be done. The stopping completely while driving that happened last week.

First problem started when radio remained on after key removed from ignition. Radio would turn on and off when car was off and drained newly replaced battery. Advised to remove fuse as temporary fix. Car was also losing power when highway driving (up to 70 mph). I don't speed, but car struggled to go above 70 mph. Thought I smelled something burning, had radiator checked, oil changed, fluids added at beginning of October. Three weeks later on city street, slowing for traffic when car lost power. When traffic started moving, car continued to slow to complete stop in the street despite stepping on gas. Waited 25 minutes for tow, but when tow driver came, car was able to start and move. Less than an hour later, the problem happened again and car was towed. At mechanic, computer codes indicated low/no transmission fluid (even though fluid was added at oil change only three weeks prior). No evidence of leaks. Mechanic added fluid and went for ride on suburban back road, car lost power after 10 minutes. He had to wait approx 20 minutes for car to move again. He drained transmission fluid and found metallic bits, and says transmission would likely need replacing. Car has fairly low mileage �54k miles� and has been properly maintained. Also car was previously serviced because key was stuck in ignition.

Manufacturers owners manual instructions may lead to transmission / electrical failures which may cause an accident when traveling. The recreational towing instructions require that fuses be removed (step 5) before next steps including shifting vehicle into park and turning ignition to the on position . Those steps ( 6-9) can not be executed if step 5 is executed first. Owners who attempt to prepare the vehicle for recreational towing by using a different sequence run the risk of damaging their vehicles and/or causing severe accidents if the transmission locks up under tow (moving). Dealer claims is VIN specific. It is not VIN specific. I tested several identical vehicles on the dealer lot and they all fail, using the manufacturer instructions.

Button on floor-mounted gear shift sticks in. Can't get key fob out of ignition. Sticks all the time. Second incident this year. Can't turn car off. Problem so common there are you-tube videos on repair techniques. My power steering keeps going out, I have to tap on the battery post connectors and the power steering starts working again. Sometimes a warning light comes on, sometimes not. My daughter was driving going around a bend in the road when the power steering went out, almost lost control. My odometer quit working, I took it to a shop and was told it's a common problem. Why is this not on recall if a Chevrolet mechanic is telling me it's a common problem. . . Very expensive and unnecessary and should be on recall if it's that common.

I bought a 2016 chevy Sonic lt in January of 2020. It has only has 30,000 miles on it and has been well maintained. Initially, I believed that the computer was just slow. In March, 2020 I noticed that when I would turn the car on the radio/computer would sometimes take several minutes to boot up. Then once booted, the back-up camera lines would not show up. Only occasionally would the guiding lines appear on the screen. Then, a problem developed where after I turned the car off and locked the doors, the radio would continue playing until the vehicle was restarted or the battery was disconnected. This first occurred in may 2020 and would occur periodically over the next several months. In June 2020, the radio would randomly not boot when started or boot even more slowly than usual. Sometimes I could drive ten or twenty minutes before the computer would finally turn on. Other times the computer would never turn on. Yet again, the only solution was to restart the car or disconnect the battery. On August 1, 2020, the radio will not turn on at all, even after restarting the car or reconnecting the battery. Now that the radio is completely nonoperational, other systems have been effected, too. For example, the blinkers do not signal properly. Although they blink, I do not receive a notification that they are engaged (no blinking sound). The seat belt, door ajar, and key in ignition warning do not sound anymore either. Additionally, the collision notification and lane recognition no longer produce an audible warning. It does not matter whether the car is stationary or in motion, the radio and all related sound components do not work at all. I have not found any solution yet. There have been recalls for problems such as these for this vehicle, but none of them are currently open.
The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Sonic. The contact stated while driving at 45 mph, the vehicle loss motive power and stalled without warning. The contact stated that several attempts were needed to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Hazzard lights button would not deactivate. Had just replaced all front headlights and 3 weeks later they both went out. Side mirrors switch is not working.
Code 84 while driving on regular road at normal speed. Car goes into power reduction mode. It's difficult to accelerate and the "see mechanic" symbol on the dash. Took it to midas, had the pedal assembly replaced and electrical wires greased. Next week same thing, replaced pedal assembly again. Same thing happened again today. Driving in nice weather going under 45mph. Stabilitrack light comes on and power reduction turns on. Turn car off, sit a minute, turn back on, check engine light and power reduction off. Will happen again. Every day for the last 3 weeks after about a year ago having pedal assembly replaced. Code 84 came on again today, took to the mechanic, they say everything is running fine with the diagnostic reading. Not sure why the power reduction comes on. I have tried driving with traction control off, tc off and stabilitrack off. New tires, new brakes, new windshield (replaced when I bought the car in case there was an internal leak. No water intrusion was found by the mechanics. I cannot drive the car safely on the busy road I work on. Car will go into power reduction at random even when on the highway, causing the car to lose ability to accelerate fast enough to not get hit. Always while driving. Sometimes the check engine light stays on and sometimes it's not on at all. Intermittent power reduction. Mechanics say could be an electrical issue but couldn't find the source of the problem. This has been happening on and off for over a year and no solution has been found. All regular maintenance is scheduled in a timely fashion. Unknown cause of safety issue.
Radio is not working. Therefore, I am unable to hear any alarms (door, blinker). I am also unable to use hand free calling or on star. Also, the car will randomly attempt to start if the key is left in the ignition.
Turn signal indicators do not make sound when active.
I've been having a lot of problems with the air conditioner for the last couple weeks I bought it used. I just spent $900 on a new compressor for the air conditioning air switch and now they're saying that it's all electrical issues. I was wondering if there was a recall on the air conditioner unit for a 2013.
The mylink stereo system all the sudden began changing stations on its own constantly. It reprogrammed all stations to the same channel, the touch screen will not respond to touch. Bluetooth hands free had to be disconnected because it also randomly calls people in my recently called list, often clients. I have a prepaid xm subscription but cannot use my radio at all. There are a number of us with the same issue and we have identified eachother in a facebook group. There are at least 10-15 people who are currently experiencing the same issue. The stereo actually called 911 one day because I had recently dialed the number to report an accident outside my home. This could cause safety issues. This happens whether the vehicle is in motion or parked, any time of day. It's like the stereo has just gone haywire.
We bought the car used and ever since then it had a weird double locking mechanism, such as when I put it in park it would unlock but when I went to open the drivers side door it would lock itself as I was in the process of opening it. So it would be slightly opened and I'd have to press the button to unlock it to open the door. It did this often only on the drivers side. Then one day after I had drove it somewhere we closed the door for 2 mins max when we went to use the key fob to open the door while the door was parked in a driveway the car door lock would go up then immediately back down. The only way we could open the passenger side door was to try and open it as the door lock went up before it came back down, which was possible but after getting in there was no way to open the drivers side door at all. It was as if the car door lock stick didn't go up all the way to actually unlock the door. There's also no way to get the door panel off with the car door being closed. We've taken it to different places that have actually no idea what's wrong with it. This is such a huge safety problem with the car door not being able to open at all if there was a car crash or anything.
The radio will freeze sometimes and the seatbelt chime will never come on if it's not buckled, as well as the vehicle locking itself with the car keys in the ignition even if the vehicle is on.
I bought my van Chrysler pacifica back on July 30 2018 after couple months after I stater noticing sliding door driver side when trying to close it either by key fob inside button nor door was not closing any once need it to try 3 or 4 times to close all the way then radio turning off I called a web called pacifica cares then I was reach by them I was told to provide a email phone number time and date of appointment name and address of the dealership then y was reach by one case manager I share with her the issues we agreed on the appointment at the date and time which was yesterday 2/26/2020 8 am she said she called them explained to them what was going to happen at the date and time so I got to the dealership and none had a clue about my reason so I explained to service person he said you can't generalized and said the isn't no issues whatsoever which pacificas I called case manager but she wasn't reachable because she's in other state so I was told by advisor at the service that she never talk to him after two hrs I was reach by my case manager and then explained to me that I need it to pay the diagnostic to be able to move forward in the case which it cost 140$ I told her that I was never told that I need it to cover that out of my packet before they can make any decision at this point I'm very disappointed and upset because I was never told that I need it to pay for this diagnosis if I can get any help will appreciate.
My car starting killing on me I had to leave it and get a ride home a couple off times the last time I had it towed to a dealership were they found out the car was sold to me with a lock out device on it the car has been in the shop since 1-29 I got fired because of no transportion.
Temp 45-50 degrees, driving in moderate rain for 20-25 minutes, cruise control on. Activate high beams, car shifts to 1st gear at 65 mph, rpms jump above 6000, turn off high beams returns to normal operation. Repeated 2 more times in next 4 miles, even at 25 mph. When end of trip, shut off car and completely dead, no lights, no cranking. Following morning (today) car starts normally. Will report any further from my commute today, if warranted.
Today I'm writing in behalf of carite of oakland park I had a email chat with brian mccoy the branch owner of the company, I was told by him that the car was put in as repo status, due to me giving the car back. I feel my life was put in danger numerous of times and due to the negligence of the company I was not given a reliable vehicle nor was I treated as a valued customer. . . Good day, I've made all attempts regarding this situation with carite I'm the time allowed. . I'm requesting a full refund of my money I've made it clear and I don't want nothing else from these people at this company. I've told the owner not to have the car delivered on today 2/8/20 he still insist the driver greg to do so, I've rejected to receive the vehicle instead of honoring my request I'm getting phone calls from other parties at carite I guess to reconsider! no, I want my money my life will not be in danger due to they're negligence. . Thank you,the items submitted are receipts of payments also, the day of 1/20/20 I drove to fort lauderdale on the accept ion of getting the ac repaired and the windshield. Nothing took place for being there for 6 hours only to head back home exhausted��� and to finally get 50 miles home the car started to blow white exhaust from the vents, I immediately called carite and spoke with kim, who's in responsible for repair and maintenance. I told her what was going on and that I've had enough. I get home, wake up the next day to go to a dr appointment only for the car to not star! I lift the hood so my neighbor could give me a jump and this is what I find under the hood. . ( the pliers next to the battery that was left there and I drove home with it on the car that's alone it's enough puts my life in danger. . .
Checked car while stationed, when running always needs more cooling maybe electrical burnout of a part that connects to the radiator fan. When put the diagnose code, none is given, and temperature goes up to 225, its a hazard if a person does not know that fan is not working, putting refrigerant all the time. Read that there is a new re-design cooling fan assembly.
The shift lever button will not release when in park, so the vehicle doesnt not read that its firmly in park; the key wont release and I cannot turn off the vehicle until the button unjams itself or I lubricate it to do so. This has been happening frequently. The only fix is replacing the entire shift lever, which is upwards of $300.
While driving my car, the car looses power and began to stall. I've went to two chevy dealerships and two repair and no one is able to tell me what's the problem.
Upon accelerating my Sonic has lack of power and gears don't engage or they are delayed which causes me to be very unsafe from oncoming traffic when my car decides to engage I can then continue driving. I also have a issue with the car electrical system refusing to chime when keys are left in ignition as a warning sometimes I put my high beams on and all the locks lock and my car does the refusal to engage in gear thing again and my lights flicker my whole computer system went dead and no one can figure out why I only bought the car 6 months ago for 12,000 so I could have reliability and I shouldn't have to deal with this or anything for quite so time my old car is safer than this new one.
My 2018 Chevrolet Sonic radio screen went black without warning while I was driving. I lost all functions through the radio screen. This happened a second time in route to work within a few days. I'm concerned that the radio may go black during an emergency when I need to use on star.

The chime is not working in my car. I called gm about this and they said the recall 17130 has already been closed on my car but the chime is not working. It seems to be a problem with mylink as other things arent working either. Summary general motors llc (gm) is recalling certain model year 2013-2016 Chevrolet Sonic and trax vehicles and 2013-2015 Chevrolet spark vehicles equipped with a bring your own media radio. The affected radios may fail to provide an audible warning chime when the driver, after turning off the ignition and leaving the key in the cylinder, waits 10 minutes or longer to open the door. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) number 114 "theft protection. " without audible indicators, the driver may leave the key in the ignition, increasing the risk of theft. Gm's number for this recall is 17130.
2013 Sonic LS -from the start, the air conditioner doesn't work, the car was driving on freeway sways uncontrollably but seems like wind at first but there's no wind. It started jerking and hesitating, lights and radio flickering, when in motion in freeway, car started getting hot but not all the way over heating pulled over then the steering column locked in the turn to pull over, when stopped, the car rpm started revving but car wasn't going nowhere, then turned the car off after putting in park and and the key won't come out of the ignition. . . After wiggling the key for a few minutes it released. Towed the car to friendlies auto repair shop and told them everything that was happening they said they needed to replace the ratiator for $1400. 00 and we paid it. However the car is still doing the same thing and the radiatir didnt fix anything we seen as being wrong. Now they said it's the compressor but we don't have additional money to continue fixing. I read online others with this car are having similar issues.
Dealer sold me car with bald tires less than 2/32. Dealer sold car with filthy rusty and loose parts on manifold. Valves. Struts. And trans mount. Suspension pieces were broken and old. The thermostat was put in wrong and caused divid in manifold. Battery and electrical system also had issues. All issues were from mile 1 to 200 of owning car.
I purchased this vehicle used in 2016 from a car dealership. A couple of months ago my key would not come out of the ignition and I had to wait a few mins then try again. Next time it did that it took 30 mins to remove the key until finally the last time it would not come out period and I had no choice but to leave the vehicle and have it towed to the shop. I had to replace a part of the shifter. There was a metal piece right under the shifter knob that failed. I had aul insurance vintage now and had to pay 500,000 dollars for this repair because he stated that it was not covered. Personally I don't believe that but I had no choice and paid to have it fixed. I took the vehicle prior to the shifter visit to the dealershil twice with a complaint of not getting enough power when I excelerate and it moves slowly and is at 10-25 mph before it moves to the highway speed of 55mph. They again said they could not find anything. Again today I experience the slow exceleration again, so I am making a complaint this time. There is a electrical problem with this vehicle I 've had a couple of electrical issues as well as a replaced water pump. I got this in 2016 it should not have these many problems with this vehicle. I am always stopped at a light in the turning left lane getting on the highway when this happen and other cars have almost hit me several times. I wantit to be investigated and known before I go back to the dealership again and to be told thatthere s nothing wrong. I see the dashboard lights dim quite a lot while I am driving. And when it stall like this the power lights get really dim but you can still see your mph etc. Please help me something is wrong with this vehicle and I don't want to die in it.
There is a problem with the passenger presence module according to our mechanic. When an adult is seated in the passenger seat with the car turned on and stationary, sometimes, the airbag system does not turn on as if it does not recognize a person there. If the car is then put into drive, the airbag system still remains off. Other times, the air bag system will turn on at the beginning of the drive and then turn off randomly during the drive while someone is still sitting in the passenger seat. This seems to be an obvious issue as the airbag may not activate in an accident when there is indeed someone in the passenger seat.
Having an issue with the radio itself, its went black a few times on me as I was driving. And also when I was parked. No response on it at all. Im afraid if something happens like when im in a wreck and when I try to call onstar while its not working im afraid of it not connecting, and also ive had issues with the window switches not rolling up or down the windows no clicking noises when I push on the switch all four have done it, acting like its not getting a electric signal to the switches, what I usually do when that happens is pull the car over turn off the iginition and let the car sit for 30 seconds then start the car and it usually works. Ive also checked to make sure the safety switch aint on and it isnt.
