Two problems related to wiring have been reported for the 1997 Chevrolet Suburban. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Engine wouldn't start. Towed to dealer. Started and dealer couldn't find problem. Stated it was probably fuel pump since had seen this before. Finally failed after surging and dying during drive. Found "burned" (said darkened insulation) wiring harness which damaged other components from fuel pump to engine.
Electrical connnection to the fuel pump in the fuel tank overheated, causing the insulation of the wires to melt which could have resulted in a fire .
