Hydraulic Power Assist Steering System problems of the 2002 Chevrolet Suburban

Five problems related to hydraulic power assist steering system have been reported for the 2002 Chevrolet Suburban. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Hydraulic Power Assist Steering System problem

Failure Date: 08/28/2007

Power steering on 2002 chevy. Suburban fails. Had power steering pump replaced and problem continues.

2 Hydraulic Power Assist Steering System problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2005

2002 Chevrolet Suburban experiencing problems with the power steering sensors. The sensors reacted sporadically. The consumer also experienced this problem with his 1999 GMC yukon.

3 Hydraulic Power Assist Steering System problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2004

While driving 60 mph consumer lost power steering however, consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and pulled over. Consumer contacted the dealer, and was informed that the power steering unit needed to be replaced.

4 Hydraulic Power Assist Steering System problem

Failure Date: 06/24/2004

2002 Chevrolet Suburban had power steering failure. When then power steering failed the consumer was not able to steer the vehicle. The consumer feels that the design of the system should allow the driver to have full control of the steering even in the event of failure.

5 Hydraulic Power Assist Steering System problem

There has been a problem with the power steering since April 2003. Vehicle lost power steering while driving. Vehicle has been to the dealer four times, but the problem still occurs.
