Side/rear Glass problems of the 2002 Chevrolet Suburban

Three problems related to side/rear glass have been reported for the 2002 Chevrolet Suburban. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Side/rear Glass problem

Failure Date: 05/06/2008

The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban. While driving 40 mph, a rock crashed into her windshield. As a result, the windshield cracked and produced pieces of glass on the front seats and dashboard. The contact felt that the windshield should not have produces glass pieces. As of may 6, 2008, the dealer had not inspected the vehicle. The failure and current mileages were 100,000.

2 Side/rear Glass problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2003

Rear liftgate window exploded out. It sent glass 25' to the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was parked. It was about 39deg f outside. No tampering or forced entry visible. The lift arms were locked in the open position. The driver side arm would not compress. The window assembly was still latched closed to the liftgate. Pics available.

Rear window of liftgate 'expoded' sending glass 10 to 20 yds w/o locatable projectile.
