Brake/abs light on and ecbm for abs not working no anti lock brake system and for the electrical vehicle has all kinds of electrical issues had to remove fuse to radio because of it going bonkers and it wouldn't turn off or down sounds like a fax machine or old school dial up internet sounds all the time and siren sounds were coming from radio and speakers only way to make it stop was to pull the fuse and have had to get multiple four wheel alignments because of steering and steering has to much play in it before Suburban turns.
Bought this vehicle a few days before the first incident. I drove it home from over two hours away, drove it all around the day before, no problems. Then I was driving down a bypass at about 60 miles an hour and the engine shut off! I had no power steering, nothing! I was able to pull over, shut it off and once I turned it back over it was just fine. So I cautiously started driving, it happened again a few miles down the road only this time it stalled then regained power and quickly shut off again. Once engine was turned off and restarted, it was fine, it did this to me 5 times within 5 miles. I almost got hit two of those times by other vehicles, once when I was turning onto a road. I am glad my kids were not in it. I am scared to drive on two lane roads without room to pull over.
I was turning into driveway when I heard a pop than some grinding so I listened and it was coming from front tire. I jacked it up the wheel was loose and when u freely turned the wheel u heard grinding from the bearings being no good. I think the wheel hub assembly is out I was looking for a replacement part when I noticed there was a recall from 2007nfor them the compapaign number is 07e106000 I would like to know is this true thanks james dittmar.
Tl-the contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 mph. The steering wheel seized. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road in her sub division. The contact had the vehicle pushed into her driveway. The vehicle had not been taken to an dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnosis or repairs. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been made of the problem. The approximate failure was 100,000. Lj.
With cruise control on at 70mph, attempted to change from left to right lane. Another car sped up the right lane to pass me. Turned steering wheel back to left lane and suddenly had no control over steering, braking and the steering wheel started violently shaking. Car rolled twice, over metal median and turned 180 degrees facing the opposite direction on the interstate w/ roof crushed in. Neither side or front air bags deployed. Front and sides smashed in and frame bent. Vehicle was deemed to be totalled by state farm. Have been driving 40 years and have never had an accident in my life. Only good thing was the seatbelt held tight as I was hanging upside down when the car finally stopped. The day before this occurred I noticed that the stability control system would randomly engage during straight driving on a perfectly dry surface. I purchased this vehicle brand new from the dealer in 2004 and the car was meticulously maintained. (it looked brand new).
Under warranty, brought car in for loose, vibrating steering wheel in 2006. Dealership brought to our attention the need to replace a bolt on the steering shaft, was a warranty repair covered by gm and we did not have to pay (issued as recommended repair only if consumer brought to attention. Problem went away. Problem recurred in fall 2008 (car now out of warranty) identical symptoms as before. Contacted dealership again to complain, they stated, out of warranty have to pay for new part replacement. Feel this is a flawed engineered component on vehicle from start, should not have to pay for something that is not safe in the first place.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban 1500. The intermediate steering shaft began making noise when the wheel was turned left or right. The dealer stated that the steering shaft needed to be replaced and they made the replacement. The current mileage was 36,966 and failure mileage was 36,000. Updated 02-12-08 updated 02/12/08.
Terrible knocking in turning steering wheel--repaired under warranty--states shaft, intermediate replace-mileage was 35k now at 55k same problem only louder and wheel seems loose--called dealer--needs to replace shaft again for a cost of $300--I drive my grandchildren to school and take long trips--dealer said car is safe-I am about to make along trip and cannot get the car serviced until my return in a week--this is worrisome when I feel I could lose control of the car if something should break-why would a second drive shaft be faulty as was the first. I have read other complaints about this and my dealer says it is happening to a lot of 2004 Suburbans and they expect a recall.
Knocking noise while driving at slow speed seems to be coming from the steering system. My brother had a 2004 chevy also and it happened to his vehicle also. This has been going on for over a year. Because the vehicle is not under the 36 k warranty the dealer will not repair this. I am sure this is occurring in other 2004 chevy Suburbans.
Under warranty, brought car in for loose, vibrating steering wheel in 2004. Dealership did something to make it quite but 3 months later it was doing it again. Took it in again and they said to get the car greased. It only lasts a little while. So has to be repeatedly done. I'm afraid something is going to break.
2004 chevy Suburban 2500 series with quadrasteer. The rear wheel steering faults approximately every 5 miles, often when exiting a turn. This can leave the rear wheels full left (or right) if the turn was tight causing the vehicle to crab down the road sideways. If the road is not wide and the driver is not extremely aware a sideswipe accident could easily occur. The rear wheels slowly self center after 10 to 15 seconds. Vehicle has been back to the dealer many times. They either say they have replaced a sensor, tightened a loose connection, or no problem found. Sometimes it will be ok for 20 miles or so but the problem always recurs. Unable to get it fixed.
