Steering problem #1

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Suburban. While making a left turn, a loud clunking noise was heard coming from the rear passenger side of the vehicle. The contact called the dealer, wood Chevrolet at (814) 344-8250, and was informed that they never heard of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

Steering problem #2

Stability system indicator/traction active/traction control indicator come on when making left hand turn sometimes vehicle stalls when accelerator is pressed and "traction active" will illuminate on the dic. Dealer stated that it was a "wheel hub sensor". Replaced left wheel hub assembly, still have same issue. In work on replacing right hand wheel hub assembly to see if this corrects issue, but by the look of some of the other responses it will not. Need a recall if this is happening, possible life threatening situation if car stalls when turning through oncoming traffic.

Steering problem #3

I went to my local chevy dealer service dept. To report a problem with my steering mechanism - sever clunking, rattling felt in the steering wheel while driving. The service rep stated that this is a very common problem with the Suburbans. This has been an ongoing problem with my vehicle, starting at about 32k miles.

Steering problem #4

Steering clunks and loose, worse when going around curves and during braking. This is a know faulty design of the intermediate steering shaft that caused the manufacture to redesign part. How many people have to be injured before gm issues a recall????.
