Six problems related to service brakes have been reported for the 2007 Chevrolet Suburban. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Customer has a 2007 Suburban, the steering angle sensor is faulty causing diagnostic trouble code c0455 and traction control inoperative , tested sensor directly to verify fault, the part is no longer available from gm nor aftermarket, it is my professional opinion that there should be a viable part number available from the vehicle manufacturer as this is causing a safety hazard. I’ve reached out to gm corporate and have yet to receive a response. Questions or comments please call [xxx]. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. I have this vehicle for only a year I went to get my brakes done to be told by the mechanic that it needs work on the suspension from rust almost my whole entire suspension system and a auto shop told my finance company that there are no problems but clearly there is.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban. While attempting to start the vehicle, it began to shake and the check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated. While driving at various speeds, the vehicle began to slow down and the reduced engine power indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. As a result of the failure, the vehicle was almost t-boned by a tractor trailer. The vehicle was able to be maneuvered to the side of the road where it was restarted successfully. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the throttle body and the brake switch would need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was brought back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the wiring to the ecm connector 2 and wiring harness needed to be changed. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred shortly after the repair from the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 67,200.
I started my car and the brakes were gone and the steering wheel was locked up. I turned it off and started it again, then the brakes would lock up and there was no power steering. I waited a while and tried a third time, it made a power steering machine noise and was back to normal. I was afraid to drive it because I didn't want to cause an accident if it happened again. I had it towed to the dealer. The dealer could not reproduce the problem, therefore could not use my extended warranty to fix it. I paid out of pocket for a new power steering pump, because I will not drive it if there is even a chance of that happening again. It's too much of a liability.
Our 2007 Suburban lurched forward, and doors locked when my wife started it today. She said it also 'felt like it wouldn't go' she also stated that 'the steering locked up' and that she was scared to take it on the road from the store she was at. In the last few months we noticed 1) using excessive oil between changes 2) radio, and dash lights quitting 3) ac working intermittently. In the last 3 weeks we've had 1) the stabilitrac/tcs/check engine light come on2) hard shifting between 1st and 2nd gear 3) abnormal idling 4) car lurching when started and doors locking on their own when this happened 4) vehicle steering locking up 5) and sluggish acceleration. 8/29/11--vehicle is at dealer for the 2nd time for the check engine/tcs/stabilitrac light. . . . Many more have had this problem on edmunds, however dealer wasn't interested in the details unless there was a fix, however I had not completed reading all of the complaints yet. . .
I stopped into to teton motors in jackson, wy. And told them I heard a squeal from my brakes. They asked how many miles on the car I told them 36,000. They said not to worry that I would not need the brakes done till 100k. I traveled 1,000 miles had the oil changed and discovered that my rear inside brake pad was gone. It could not be repaired because of lack of parts so I made the return trip under those circumstances.
