I am still waiting for this recall to be fixed. Why is this taking so long? every time I drive this vehicle, it is a danger for my passenger due to the defective airbag. It almost seems to me that maybe this is a stall tactic so there will be less of a cost for the repairs due to the less vehicles still on the road. Just my opinion. I would like to know what is taking so long to fix. It is already late 2021 and this vehicle is a 2009. Wow. I guess the safety of the customers is second to the cost of repairs.
No good.
Tl- the contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact discovered recall NHTSA campaign number: 16v381(air bag). The contact was notified by a family member to check her VIN number to see if her vehicle was included in a recall. The contact called NHTSA and was informed that her vehicle was under recall; however, the parts were not available. The manufacturer nor a dealer have been notified of the matter. A failure had not occurred on the vehicle. The VIN tool confirmed that the parts are not available. Jo.
Takata recall- I have been trying to get answers regarding this recall and have my car fixed for years. I am scared to drive my car and want it to be fixed and know it is safe for my teen driver to drive as well.
Takata recall recall 16v381 is quite old and needs to be finalized. It is difficult to tell if this is a serious issue or not.
Dash cracked and totally inploded. Loose parts everywhere. These parts fly everywhere when moving vehicle. Airbag loose and probally could implode without wrecking accident. Definately a hugh safety factor. Maybe nahta would like to drive my vehicle with couple top execs from gm over country roads and Dodge loose scraphnel. 05/07/2019.
"takata recall" your website states that if the recall is not fixed in a timely manner to contact you or file a complaint. It has almost been 3 years since I was notified of this recall and nothing has happened and I have no idea of when the fix is coming. I have two vehicles under this recall, I am hoping you may be able to shed more light on this situation as gm does not care about the complaints from its customers. I have contacted them in the past and have not received a answer.
Dash has continued to crack - over 4 cracks that has affected the defrost vent, dash and now I receive periodic airbag warnings upon starting ignition and/or parking. I am concerned as a driver, mother of 3 and caregiver of elderly mom that the air bags will deploy at anytime and/or not function correctly upon a crash or collision.
I have contacted 5 dealerships in my area inquiring about replacing the airbag. Only 1 responded to my inquiry, that one informed me that they have no idea when they will be able to replace the airbag.
Takata recall it's been over 2 years now since I first received the recall notice on my airbags. I contacted a local Chevrolet dealer today and was told they are still waiting on parts. Now my concern is when will this recall be fulfilled? when something tragic happens to me or someone in my family? will the recall never be fulfilled and my vehicle eventually "dies" before the recall can be addressed? this vehicle costs a lot of money and time is steadily going by for a big company like this not be able to get parts.

Takata recall I received a letter from gm sometime back that I would be contacted to schedule an appt to service my airbags at a local dealership. After waiting about 8 months I contacted a local dealer letting them know I had bad airbags still, they advised me I would need to wait for another letter to come in advising me of the necessary repairs they need to make. I haven't heard anything and it's been almost 2 yrs .
Takata recall: failure to act on recall on this seven year old vehicle, by manufacture and pine belt Chevrolet, lakewood, new jersey. Have call the dealer given a case number 8-2567106248. This is the second case number issued. In July was told by pine belt parts were on order, now all they will give is case number. I want this on record, that I hold Chevrolet, pine belt Chevrolet, and ntsb responsible for not getting these vehicles repaired. Chevrolet should be required to replace these vehicle with new one. Thank you for your time; l j anderson 394 frank applegate rd. , jackson n. J. 08527.
Takata recall. Recall date 5/27/2016. Received letter advising of the recall and that I would receive 2nd letter once part was available. I haven't received the letter so I checked the status of the recall and website states: recall status: recall incomplete. Remedy not yet available. This is a serious recall that can cause serious injury or even death yet here we are almost 8 months later that still cannot be corrected. Our 2nd vehicle also has the recall so we are being left with 2 unsafe vehicles for our family.
It has been several years since the takata airbag recall was announced. The local dealer, bunnin Chevrolet, has continually been unable to consumate the recall for my vehicle. What can be done to remedy this danger, short of not driving the vehicle?.
Received notice July 2016 that I would be contacted. Never was so I called allen GMC told them about my recall , made and appointment and drove down met with service advisor steve wacker. He said I cannot fix this as I have no parts. I called 800 222-1020 talked to yvonne and gave her all my info. She put me on hold and burt picked up and I had to give him all the information again. Both these people were in the philippines and said they could not transfer me to a decision maker. Funny how the suits all hide behind these cust serv people. I asked steve and burt how they would feel about putting their wife or child in that seat with the possibility the air bag could kill them as it has others. I asked for a car to drive like Honda has done with their customers. Just a bunch of happy talk at the expense of a family member. I don't care if there is a 1/1000 chance it may happen they should fix it or give you a car until they do. They should not be able to produce or sell new cars until the get this situation resolved. Gm is a huge company with lots of resources and it seems a crime that someone may lose a loved one over greed. How soon they forget who was loyal to them when they were in bankruptcy.

Dash around airbag is cracked along with above instrument cluster. It appears it is identical to all other dash cracks in both location and type on 07-13 tahoes/suburbans/avalanches. Obliviously a manufacturing defect coupled with the takata recall could create an exploding dash with extra brittle shrapnel.
Service airbags light on.
Dash is cracked. Afraidbof splintering during airbag deployment.
Takata recall - I contacted legacy Chevrolet which is my local dealer. She said me and everyone else has not had their airbags replaced because the dealer hasn't been sent any parts for anyone. Suggested I call gm directly myself to ask why parts are not available.

My 2009 Suburban has multiple cracks in the dash that continue to get worse. I also have new cracks that go from the natural dash seam to the airbag cover/encasing on the passenger side. This presents the question: if the airbag needs to deploy, what happens if the broken dash punctures it and it doesn't perform at all -or- what if the cracked dash becomes shrapnel and harms the passengers? it was clearly an unfinished design since the underside of the dash is completely hollow, it flaps up and down once cracked. It's no wonder they have cracked all the way across, they have absolutely no support under there. These vehicles are made to tow, get through all sorts of weather and road conditions, and haul a large group. But the dash can't withstand it? problematic.
Multiple cracks in the dashboard. Concerned of loose plastic in case of air bag deployment.

Manufacturer recall number2049151 NHTSA recall number16v381 recall statusrecall incomplete, remedy not yet available. The recall status has been showing as remedy not yet available since may 27,2016. We have called dealerships numerous times only to be told that the remedy is still not available just like the website states even though it has been well over 2 years. Meanwhile they recommend that nobody sits in the front passenger seat until the issue is corrected. We have a Suburban because we need the space to fit all of our family, which includes using the front passenger seat, and 2 years without being able to use our car to it's full capacity is unheard of.
