1 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2022

The drivers seat back is extremely lose. Moves forward and back with every brake and acceleration. The seat base also moves slightly, rocking left to right in turns. The suspension completely failed and had to be replaced. An unknown oily substance has been coating the inside of the windshield since the purchase of vehicle in 2015. Requires constant deep cleaning in order to see through windshield.

2 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2021

Hello, while driving my chevy Suburban last week as I was pumping gas with my two year old son in the back seat. I saw smoke leaking and rolling out from the bottom of my vehicle. I had shift the vehicle off and inspected thoroughly. I couldn’t see and understand where this was coming from. It wasn’t the engine block and no check engine lights had come on. So I let the vehicle cool and started her up. No issue until I was a mile or two from my family summer rental and all of a sudden the vehicle felt as though it slipped out of gear. I was left without any power and realized I was smoking again. I pulled or what I would call drifted to the break down lane and pulled my little man out of the vehicle. This happened on Saturday and after almost a week in the shop, the dealership sprung me a nice $5200 price for a transmission. I am now looking and seeing two different recalls for this vehicle. Ironically the these two issues look exactly like the two recalls they have for the power train. 4 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 05/30/2020

The electronic suspension struts have gone out for the second time. This seems to be a very common problem on these vehicles. The first time it happened was in 2017. It has happened again 2 years later. The vehicle is a 2015. Many people are having this problem according to the dealership and the repair shop.

5 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2019

Steering wheel locked and failed to turn after putting into drive when leaving a parking spot. Needed to put back into reverse to release the wheel. Steering column has since been making loud popping noise during small corrections while driving straight, at various speeds. Steering has been becoming increasingly less responsive and requiring more force. Especially during breaking. Fluid level is normal.

7 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2019

I brought my 2015 Suburban ltz (63,000) into the dealership today for a horrible banging in the front passenger's side and was having a hard time controlling the vehicle when I hit a bump or pot holes. At first the customer service rep told us they could not replicate the issue and after some firm convincing, the tech came back and said that the shocks were indeed leaking in the front. While I have an extended warranty good for 72 months or up to 75k miles and the part is listed as struts under he gm code, the cost is not going to be covered and we are going to have to pay nearly $1800 to repair. We really have no choice but to repair given the noise is not only loud when the car hits a bump but also the performance and handling has not been great since the noise started. After researching it is very apparent that this is a known issue with gm! why isn't the NHTSA looking into this? gm knows this is an issue and isn't doing anything about it. Does it take a tragic accident to get action on this issue. Please help consumers to make this right.

8 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated that his vehicle bounced up and down while driving at various speeds without warning. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who informed him that the struts were worn and needed to be replaced. The contact spoke with adams Buick GMC inc (1017 berea rd, richmond, ky 40475) where he was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000.

9 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 01/24/2019

I have just over 84000 miles on my Suburban. I have had to replace the a/c condenser due to failure in a weld and now have to replace all four struts as they have now failed. I also have part of the heated seats not working as well as sensors that need to be "updated" all the time. I find it ridiculous that Chevrolet will not stand behind its product, especially when so many people are having issues with the same parts of the vehicle.

10 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 12/26/2018

The service suspension light cam on and the dealer stated I needed all new electromagnetic structs at a cost of 4k. I also know 2 other people who have the same year of vehicle that this has happened to.

11 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2018

My 2015 Suburban ltz has lost both front struts. Dealer wants almost $2,000 to repair. If this is as common of a problem as it seems, and I were a major auto maker, I would be embarrassed that an upgraded, high tech suspension system that I added to my $70,000 product was causing my consumers a very premature, very expensive repair. If this is an upgraded, luxury vehicle, I'll take the standard one. I should have stayed with auto maker that stands behind their product.

12 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 08/31/2018

Front struts are seized on the right side and leaking fluid on the left. Vehicle has less than 100k miles on it. Without this the car rides incredibly rough and keeps eating through tires.

13 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2018

Badly faded paint top of hood and roof top. Magnetic shocks had to be replaced at cost of $1800.

14 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2018

While driving above 70 mph, the vehicle begins to have vibrations. Have taken our Suburban in for multiple repairs but their reasoning was the vehicle and tires were not balanced however after replacing the tires and getting a road forced balance it did not resolve the issue. It does not feel safe to drive above 70mph.

15 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/14/2018

When traveling at interstate highway speeds vehicle had shaking, shimmying, vibration and buffeting as well as loud hum and wind noise causing nausea resulting in nausea and dizziness to the driver. This was worse on new macadam and on grooved highway but occurred intermittently on other surfaces, I just purchased this vehicle used and it is certified. I was unaware that this is a common issue and understand now that there is no recall to fix this and that gm has not found a permanent solution to the problem. The vehicle was also exhausting to drive on the highway because of the aforementioned issues.

16 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2018

Yesterday after bouncing all over the road for months and to the point of being unsafe to drive I took the SUV to the dealership only to be told I need 2 new shocks on the front end ($2,000). When you spend over $70k on an SUV and just a few years later you need new shocks means clearly something is seriously wrong with the vehicle. After looking around I was correct it is due to a failed magnetic ride system which chevy is aware of and choosing to do nothing. Shame on chevy for doing nothing and ignoring the impact to the customer. This will be the last chevy I ever buy. At least some compensation would be great but the dealership doing the work said no since chevy does not recognize the defect.

17 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 03/23/2018

In October 2017 we experienced brief periods where brake pedal became rigid and impossible to depress. The vehicle was taken to our local Chevrolet dealer. We described in detail the rigid brake pedal. The dealer wanted to do put new brake pads and turn the rotors. I thought it was strange that a vehicle with just over 40 thousand miles would need new brakes, but we had the work done. The dealer also wanted to replace the vacuum hose which powers the brake system. This work was also done. Next, on Friday March 23, 2018 we were traveling on an interstate at a high speed when the brake pedal became impossible to depress. We were very fortunate not to cause a serious accident. I had to have it towed to a dealer and rent a car. The following week we were contacted by the dealer doing the repairs. Our Suburban had a vacuum pump failure. This caused total brake failure. After some research I discovered that this vehicle's engine does not produce enough vacuum to power the brakes (unlike every other vehicle on the road). In any other car the only way you lose suction for your brakes is if the engine stops. In our Suburban the engine can be running fine and you may or may not have brakes. The warning system is totally useless as it isn't triggered until you experience total brake failure without any warning. While the vehicle was in the service department having vacuum pump replaced the dealer also explained that all four magnetic ride shocks/struts were locked in place and not functioning at all. This is another serious safety issue. I have never heard of shocks "locking up" . After some more research, I found this is a huge problem for gm vehicles. A problem that gm has failed to address. I have also had 3 major repairs on ac. Including ne ac lines and new compressor.

Car exhibits shaking/vibrations at speeds about 65mph, which at times is accompanied by a buffeting sound.

20 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 09/07/2016

Have had our vehicle in the dealership 3 times for road/tire vibration from ?tires or suspension. Dealership has changed 3 of 4 tires could not get road forced balances with 22 inch tires. Dealership claims bad batch of tires from bridgestone. Vibration has continued at speeds of 70-80 mph. It all began after the first service at 5792 mile and tire rotation. Vehicle was brought back to dealership advising of vibration in steering wheel and both front seats. Dealership claimed that they were not able to get tires balanced. Had to order 3 different sets of replacement tires with no prevail. Brought back again for second required service and dealership has rotated the tires for a second time.
