1 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 02/20/2026

The check engine and traction control light came on in my car. This was accompanied by a clanking sound, shaking. The panel said “ service esc” “ service traction control” and “ forward collision system unavailable” the Chevrolet light logo on the back of my car will also not turn off occasionally whenever the car is turned off.

I was driving when I received messages saying service esc, forward collision system unavailable, & service traction control. The vehicle began to shake hard when I applied brakes, had loss of power when pressing the gas pedal, and sounded like metal grinding. All of this put my children & I at risk as we were on interstate 35 with cars flying past us and I’m losing power. Initially the spark plugs and coil was were changed to no repair. It was towed to a dealership where they confirmed the lifter & cam failed which put metal in the oil. My only option is a full engine replacement costing 20k on a vehicle that’s 4yrs old. It’s not ok that I have to spend that in order to get my 70k car drivable. Im now without a car, still paying a car note, unable to get my kids places, and having to get help from friends all bc gm can’t build a quality vehicle. I also haven’t been able to get a loaner car. This isn’t happening in only the 6. 3l. This is a widely known issue with the 5. 3l as well. *there were zero warning signs that something was wrong. Drive just fine that morning*.

3 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2022

We were traveling approximately 30 mph approaching an intersection of a 5 lane road. A vehicle in front t of us had pulled into the turn lane. As we approached the vehicle that was already completely in the other lane, our car suddenly braked to a complete stop even though my foot was only on the accelerator as it is a 40 mph speed zone.

4 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2022

I was driving on the freeway about 65 mph on Saturday June 18. In a sudden instant, there was a message on my dash "brake module failure" and "speed limited to 62 mph". Also warning message that "forward collision warning was off" , etc. The abs light, the "check brakes light", and the check engine light all were on. Also, the power brakes went completely out and to stop I had to press really hard with manual brakes. I don't think a small framed person would have been able to stop and if I had been at a moment where I needed to stop quickly I don't think I would have been able to stop had there been a need to stop quickly. The dealer tells me that the brake master cylinder failed. The car has 43,000 miles and has been well maintained.

5 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2022

While driving, I received a notice identifying a problem with the esc system and that there was a brake system failure. I have received an advanced diagnostics alert about the antilock braking system. The vehicle was difficult to stop and required excessive pressure on the brake pedal.

6 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2021

Car suddenly swerved, loud knocking started. Multiple system failures started flashing. Forward collision, ecs, traction control, the car was vibrating, jerky. I have multiple videos as well. The dealership literally told me they’d seen a ton of these when I called immediately and then told me to keep driving because the damage was done and if the engine died well then it’s under warranty. I have 3 children under 5 and that is not an appropriate answer when I asked about it being safe to drive considering it’s jerky/shaking/knocking, and has multiple systems down. I’ve also googled and joined forums and this is apparently a common issue in the 2021 v8s and chevy refuses to issue a recall. Would be more than happy to provide videos as well it won’t let me upload them with the photos. Was told it could be weeks before they even have parts.

7 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 08/18/2021

In traffic, approx. 10-15 mph car in front stopped short. I put foot on the brake pedal and pushed the brakes pedal to the floor. The car did apply the brakes equally as hard as I was appling brakes at the pedal.

We were stopped at a red light on florida state road 54 turn lane to go on us 75 when the other car rear ended us and drove us into the car in front of us. No air bags deployed. Florida highway patrol crash number 88482185. We only had the vehicle for 10 days.
