My vehicle was sold as equipped w/ front/rear park assist; includes later retrofit printed on the window sticker . I took delivery nearly 2 years ago and this safety retrofit has still not been completed . I have reached out to gm customer service who provides vague excuses and no further information for repair. I see new gm vehicles just like mine on the lot with these systems installed and working . Isn’t this a serious concern that 2 years later these vehicles have still not been retrofitted ? are there other concerned customers ? is there an investigation underway looking for explanations from gm . What more can I do as a consumer to make sure no children are ran over by cars missing these sensors ?.
When the vehicle was ordered I paid an extra amount for "driver safety alert package" to include rear and front parking sensors. It's a big car and these are quite important for safe operations. Upon car delivery in 3/2022, I got a note saying the chip operating the driver assist is missing and will be provided later. The dealer promised to install it within a quarter. More than a year went buy, and the service department recently told me that gm would not make the chip available, even tough new cars are now being delivered with the same chip. As gm or the dealer would not respond to my request, I'm filing this complaint, hoping you can get them to finally provide the missing chip and to allow safe operation of the vehicle as ordered.
